I'm with ya, girl! I got engaged in July of this year, and swore I'd start getting in shape for my July 2012 wedding asap. I kept putting it off and putting it off! I've got about 30 lbs to lose to feel decent in a wedding dress. I started Weight Watchers (for like the 3rd time in the last few years), and today is my fifth day on the program. I feel so much better than I have in a long time!
I have a hard time doing new things by myself, too. I wanted to join a local "boot camp" exercise place, but I don't want to do it alone!
Im in the same boat!! I have been working out at the gym fairly regularly over this past year...but still managed to gain weight!!! That is due to my crappy eating! I am going to try to kick up the days I go to the gym from 3 days to 5 days and really focus on counting calories...I want to lose about 30-40 lbs for my Oct 20, 2012 wedding!! Good luck ladies!
Exactly, most of my friends are either too busy or live away at school so I have no one to go with. I am thinking about visiting my brother a few times this month as he is a personal trainer but I am kind of embarassed of how out of shape I am.
I am totally there too. I have just started the Couch to 5k program and so far I am loving it. I'd never call myself a serious runner, but I used to be able to run a few miles no problemo and then I just sort of got lazy this past year. It's a nice balanced program that slowly builds up your ability to run longer. There's even an iphone app that tells you when to walk, when to run, etc! My fiance is skeptical, but I have a feeling he might start using it soon, too!
I totally agree. Although my eating habits are pretty darn good... I just need to start working out :(
It is sooooo hard for me to find the motivation to go for a jog after work when it is dark. I need to STOP making excuses... July isnt that far away.
@nineteen87: yes, I am in the same boat. Plus I have like no friends to work out with here. It sucks. I have tried to get my friends to workout with me but none of them want to work out at my gym and now that its getting cold no one wants to go on walks. I do have a friend that will meet me at a yoga studio. So, I totally hear you.
This past year was bad for me too, the best I did all year was work with a personal trainer (wasted 500 dollars) for 5 weeks, loose 10lbs and gain it back even quicker :( But I am serious about doing it this time. however, I have a weird thing about starting something mid week, so I am starting tomorrow, Sunday, the first day of the week. My plan is to go to the gym 3 times a week and twice a week another way. Plus incorporating one serving of fruit and one serving of vegetable into each meal. Cutting out foods I love never helps so I decided to push in healthier foods and hopefully I can gradually stop eating those bad foods.
Best of luck to all you ladies who are trying to get healthier. Which is my ultimate goal. I want to be healthier in 2012 :D
Yes. Both FI and I have made a promise to each other to eat better and exercise. Get all our health problems taken care of. We are getting married and eventually want to start a family. It's a great year to do get the ball rolling. I will be going back to school. He'll be opening up his new business. It's a fresh start for the both of us. We have many goals to accomplish.
@nineteen87: Hey I'm with you! And I'm another HUGE swimming fan, and have been thinking I need to get back into it again... I know what you mean, nothing makes me quite so full-body exhausted the way a long swim does. Get that pool pass, you won't be sorry! (And besides, swimmers are friendly :)).
Yes, I am the worst procrastinator. FI just said his goal for 2012 was to, "not be fat for the wedding". I am going to start running and doing ab/arm work outs. I'm hoping to get into a nice routine and NOT make excuses! I only have a little while to get my butt into shape! Good luck to everyone else trying. :)
I kept saying "ok with 9 months til the wedding I'll start"...then 8, then 7, now 6 lol. I actually plan to do now though...for the last month-ish I've been making time to do 10 min of yoga at the beginning and end of the day, a small start but hopefully a place to build from. As a grad student I have free access to the university gym, but I've never gone because I really don't want to go alone at all!!! I will probably be working out at home
So I had pizza for breakfast and my FI and I just ordered $35 orth of Chinese food. Today I a terrible day to start a diet. After drinking and staging up late hangover food is a must. Tomorrow will be the day for me :)
I lost weight about so I'm at a decent weight, and I used to run a lot. But then I went on this course for work for 11 weeks and it literally took all of mine time, it was brutal. Then it was Christmas, I'm not working, and that takes a toll on my eating habits when I'm not in some daily routine (like working). I'd love to go run but there's so much snow!
Luckily I am leaving to move to Langford, BC in about 4 days from Quebec, and will be there on Jan 17th. I plan to get back into running ASAP when I get there because there is no snow. There'll be rain, but that doesn't stop me. I definitely put on a few pounds over Christmas but it's not as bad as past years. I'll be having my first dress fitting in a couple of months, so I want to get those extra pounds back off!
I was doing so well eating healthy until the holidays trying to lose some pounds, but I am afraid to step on the scale now :S. I found p90x for sale on kijiji for $40 so I'm going to try it out and see how it goes! Hopefully in three months I will be 15-20lbs lighter (aka my normal weight!). Anything below that would be a plus and a half.
2012.... the year I lose the slogan of "I'm not a procrastinator... I just don't have time today" to "If I want to get it done I've gotta do it now!"
Good luck everyone! :)
Definitely once the holidays hit I kept saying, after the holidays! So now it's after the holidays... time to put my money where my mouth is!
for sure! i've already hit the gym twice this week, and started a new natural fat burner supplement.
As soon as I get moved into our new apartment ( out of state!) i'll be frequenting the fitness center daily! Time to get back into shape and tone up!
I am so there!! I put it off until after the wedding, but now my goal = TROPHY WIFE!
;-)
So I have re-discovered my obsession with Zumba and been counting calories like crazy. MIL and I have a "buddy system" going, and it's working. :)
I'm also creating a motivating "lifestyle change" board on Pinterest to look at whenever I am not feeling motivated.
Good luck to you all!
Classes were the key for me to stick to the gym! I don't have a consistent "buddy" to go to the gym with, but I made friends at the classes I go to. The key is to make it through the first month and be friendly! Then, people will start noticing when you don't come for a while and will make you feel bad :) Which is a good thing! Good luck!!!
If we suck it UP now, we won't have to suck it IN later!!
I am down 2 lbs!!
Yes!! 2012 is my year to get back in shape-- joined a gym yesterday for $10/month and it's a mile walk from my apartment! My roommate and I decided we're going to walk there together to add 2 miles to our workout?

Has anyone else been procrastinating all year to get in shape? I keep saying next week, next week. Well finally I have about a month off of school so I'll be trying to workout every morning. The only tools I have are Wii Sports, Biggest Loser Challenge on Wii, videos I can watch online, or running. I am thinking about getting a pool pass for the month- swimming is my favorite workout, but get social anxiety when going to a new place alone.
Is anyone else in the same boat?
