- Wedding: May 2015
Me and my boyfriend have been trying to figure out where we would want to get married. We are going to be engaged within the next couple months and I have old fashioned parents who will give me a budget for the wedding, but INSIST we will have to get married within 6 months of getting married. SAY WHAT?! It seems these days you can’t even order and alter a dress in that amount of time, nontheless plan an entire wedding!
Anywho, our dream wedding will be outdoors surrounded by nature and preferably in may/june. We enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, nature walks, bird-watching, and star gazing. We’re a very down to earth couple who are happiest outside. The idea of a state park is nice, however the one we like would be almost 2 hours away from the place that we like as a reception which is out of the question. I’d rather stay in the City (though it’s 50 miles form where we live) that way it’s near enough for close friends and families to get to, but doesn’t make guests flying in have to travel outside of the city that they would be landing/staying in.
I found a park in the city with a Japanese garden that looks quite lovely and simple. The city also has some water falls literally a block from downtown that I though could be nice for photos. The reception venue would be in that downtown area near the falls. I thought the Japanese garden could make a lovely ceremony site… I will post pics below of all the locations (garden, falls, and venue). The Japanese garden would cost $20 an hour to rent and has ample parking, all we need is to bring our own chairs and decorations. Does that sound like a nice place then? I would want a max of 40 people at the ceremony, those would also be the guests we would have for the reception dinner. Then we would have a dance at the same reception location and invite all the friends and other family members to come.
The reception provides the alcohol (i’d probably serve champagne, and then have a cash bar for the rest of the night I think, thoughts on that?) They also work with another local business downtown to cater and have some amazing sounding foods. The provide table linens and staff, and can also help to provide music (Dj or live performers). The location is AMAZING! The eating room is rustic but nice overlooking the old downtown buildings, and the dance/lounge area is modern and super cool! More money would go to that, but since the ceremony site would be so cheap I think that sounds kind of nice?
Please share with me what you think!
Japanese garden photos:
I could the ceremony under these arches… Imagine maybe fabric draped on top of it or something… again, ideas and advice please!
Here are a couple pictures from the Falls where I could see more photos taken:
The falls is really beautiful in person… the rocks are incredible and there is also a large amount of green space, trees, and gardens that aren’t in the photos… Also, you don’t have to pay to be there… so another bonus.
And here is the reception site. First couple photos will be of the dining area, the others will be of the entertainment lounge area
