Im thinking having this one as my getaway dress!! You know, for after the reception...
I have an appointment this Monday for JCrew. I loved the gowns at first, but now I think I want something a little more formal. Very beautiful for that trying not too hard but still beautiful look!
A lot of bridal shops have been telling me that the JCrew line is very flimsy and doesn't "help" you out if you don't have the perfect bod. Is this true??
Danalovely, the bridal shops are right! I was disappointed with the quality of the dresses. I tried on a couple of the strapless dresses and the lining was rolling out on top. The real disappointment was the color. The "ivory" color is more like yellow, I would even go as far as to say it was dingy yellow.
I went to the J. Crew bridal store when I was in LA a couple of months ago and found their dresses to be lacking. Online, I was drooling over the chiffon organza dune dress which marywil1 just posted and couldn't wait to see it with my own eyes. Even came SO close to just ordering it online b/c I thought it was so perfect.
I tried on about 4 - 5 dresses and found the quality and cut to be lacking (this includes the chiffon organza dune gown). The shape of the dresses wasn't the same as I had imagined. Most of them were rather unflattering and the material was just okay. I've seen pictures of brides on them that do look amazing, I just think you need to have a model like height and body to look good in them (I'm only 5'2 and wear size zero... not exactly statuesque).
This is so disappointing to hear, I usually regard J.Crew quite highly....bummer to hear the quality of their wedding gowns doesn't match that of their typical apparel. Keep me posted on the appointment! Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised :)
I had a friend wear a JCrew wedding dress and it looked great on her. She does not have a perfect body either.
I think the problem is that JCrew caters to a specific type of body shape. I have big boobs and have a hard time fitting into their dresses. I think as long as you find a seamstress to alter it, you'll be fine.
It's kind of like how Express has tank tops that are WAY longer than the tank tops at The Limited, even though they are the same company. As someone with a short torso, I find that Express clothing caters to those with longer torsos.

Hi Bees,
I tried on a few J.Crew gowns and wondered if any of you Bees are wearing J.Crew? What style are you wearing? Please post pics if you have them. I'd like to get an idea of what they look like on "real" people.
