- Wedding: January 2014
We’re having an immediate-family-only wedding in January, so we’re renting a beach house to have a party with our friends at the beginning of the summer on Memorial Day weekend.
All of the friends we’re inviting already know about it, but I was planning to send them an official Save the Date/details email this weekend. As I was drafting the email, I decided to look at the rental property’s website to remind myself of the details.
Bees, the property DIDN’T EXIST ANYMORE. I mean, it existed as in the rental house existed, but the rental company no longer rents it out and it’s currently for sale!! Even worse, it’s been for sale for three months!!
I of course about had a heart attack last night when I realized it, but it was too late to call the rental company. I called them first thing today, and they had to find the owner, who was on vacation, and have him get in touch with me. He emailed back and said they must have FORGOTTEN TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME and that he could transfer me to another property in a different city or refund my money.
Lol, I definitely picked refund my money.
I am so glad that I just happened to look up the property this weekend!! Of course, tons of places are going to be booked up for Memorial Day weekend now, so I’m kind of pissed, but… if I hadn’t just randomly decided to go on their website this weekend, I wouldn’t have known until April when I tried to pay my full balance! And then people would have already bought flights and we would have been completely screwed.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?!
Also, any suggestions for where we should go for Memorial Day weekend 2014? We’re open to anywhere in the country or just outside the country!
