So I’ve decided on this dress. Perfect for me and my little beach wedding. I think I’m going to wear my hair long and flowy with loose curls. I’ll eventually find some delish designer shoes for the reception, (I’m thinking barefoot at the beach) . . .
My question for now is the length. See how the layer of tulle peeks out and hits the model at the knee? I’m barely 5’2, so I’m thinking of shortening the dress to where the tulle hits me right above the knee so I look like I have longer legs.
What do you guys think? Would I look like a hootchie bride doing this?

IMO, the tulle makes the dress, and I personally wouldn’t shorten the dress (I’m also very petite at 5′). I’d rock a pair of heels that gets you proportionally taller!

I would definitely shorten the dress above your knees. It will make you look taller and skinnier. I always make sure to alter all of my dresses to that length. Anything longer just tends to make me look stumpy and shorter than I am.

@pengoala: I would take the dress up from the waist so I wouldn’t loose the tulle and scalloped edging of the dress.
The dress comes in next month so I will see where it actually hits me in my size.

@louisianablue: I have that same problem. Pants, dresses, skirts . . . I’m always hemming something.

OMG. This dress is so beautiful!!!!!

I think shortening it two inches or so would be fine, anything beyond that might be pushing it!

@MissSangria: Ah, yes! I don’t know what I was thinking – of course it would be taken up from the waist (haha clearly I wasn’t awake :D). Definitely raise it up then!
