so...i have been incorporating the 2010 new york city skyline into some of my papergoods.  i was so excited about how one product turned out that i showed it to my two coworkers.  the girl was sweet, but the guy kept joking:

"it reminds me of 9/11.  your wedding is going to be 9/11-themed."

i uncomfortably laughed it off the first time.  the second time i firmly told him i didn't find it funny and would like him to not make that joke.  the third time i half-jokingly hinted he would not be invited if he continues...if he does it again i will stamp the darn skyline on his forehead!!

am i the only one who thinks that it is not funny to mock a horrendous recent tragedy?  not to mention mocking someone else's wedding plans to their face?

That is such a weird thing to say and horrible to keep driving the nail deeper. I would just stop talking to him about the wedding completely if I were you. PS I am not showing ANYONE, not even our parents the invitations before they are mailed. It's too big a decision and too personal, no one can keep it to themselves if they don't like it. And they need to be ordered, so no time to waste!

I agree with moderndaisy. Many people have shown an interest into seeing our wedding invitations, but I keep brushing them off and telling them they'll see them when they're mailed to their house. I don't want any rude comments/insensitivity.

Same reason why people don't want to share baby names before the baby is born...!

His remark was tasteless - sounds like he is missing a portion of his frontal lobe that would otherwise sensor such an ill-considered comment. :P

I echo Daisy's and Karina's suggestion to keep your plans under wraps.  Planning a wedding is stressful enough without anyone adding any unnecessary stress, or unsolicited opinions.

you guys are so great, thanks for the sympathy nods in shaming this goober.  by the way, what i was so excited about was a custom stamp that i had made to stamp on the save the dates!  once they're finished, i'll reveal to the hive, who i can ALWAYS count on for positive (and yes, honest) feedback.  thanks again!
