We are having a Red Sox baseball jersey for signing in addition to a guestbook. We have a large majority of FI’s family who are HUGE fans of a rival team (they are Yankee fans). Is there any polite way we can post some kind of sign in a frame or something asking them not to draw Yankee symbols and such on the jersey? Any suggestion on wording?
We plan to display the jersey in FI’s man cave after the wedding. I’m hoping that in good taste they wouldn’t do it and I’m probably worrying unnecessarily but when i got the RSVP’s back from them, a few of them had drawn Yankee symbols on the RSVP’s and they know we are doing a RedSox theme.

You really can’t do much without seeming like a bit overbearing. Knowing that a large group of your guests cheer for your team’s rivals, having your team as your theme kind of invites the rivalry to your wedding too.

Honestly, if people are going to be jerks then they are going to do it whether you have a sign or not.
We did the same thing (O’s jersey) and we had some Yankee fans at our wedding. Everyone wrote wonderful messages though and we didn’t have any issues. Hopefully, you will have the same luck.

@fishbone: we knew that…LOL but FI and I are HUGE fans 🙂 Hopefully they will just be respectful
