Hi Bees,

Who has experience with Jewelers Mutual? Has anyone actually had something happen and how did Jewelers Mutual handle it.

I need to insure my ring- (as FH keeps pleading with me to do it)

We used Jewelers Mutual to insure my e-ring and the process was pretty fast and painless. We just filed the paperwork, included a copy of my ring appraisal and it was done.

We ended up using them after much research because they let you chose the jeweler you go to to replace your ring, in the event something happens to it.

Also my coworker just bought some insurance from them last week for his fiance's ring and he noticed that there was a large differential (~$100 per year in NY) depending on if you have a safe in your home or not. An average 30lb safe costs about $100, so in the long run, it will save him money to buy a new safe. I wish I knew that when I signed up! Keep in mind the premium changes depending on what area you live.

i did it. it was really really easy. all i had to do was answer a few questions (how often i wear it, where i store it, etc.), scan in my appraisal and give them my credit card number. i got the policy in the mail a few weeks later. they were much cheaper than adding a rider to my existing insurance policy.

I don't know all the details of my policy but my fiance did extensive research and decided to insure my ring with Jeweler's Mutual. All I know is that he's the quintessential "consumer's reports" guy so he must have weighed the cost benefits and found them worthy :-)
