I had a previous post seeking advise about a necklace for my wedding dress. I was in love with it, totally ready to order, Bees liked it too...then my MOH's wife and my mom wrote that they thought it was too busy. Sigh.

Procrastination later, I'm less that three weeks away and I have no jewelry. I found BonitaJ online. They have great reviews, so I am ready to order. They let you customize each necklace, so I want this is very pale purples and grays:

    Mom's thoughts? Too busy.

    AGH!

So, my question is, is she right? Am I the crazy one? Is it too much?

Please be honest. I just took photos of me in my dress, but haven't had the good sense to upload them to my computer yet.

Here is the floor mdel of my dress. I had them remove the ruffles on top and the ruffles on the bottom, so it is much simpler. Thanks!

I think it would be perfect (and quite beautiful) without the large pendant hanging down.  Any necklaces like that that you like?

I think it will really depend on the length of the necklace. Also.. it looks very similar (maybe even the same?) as the one ms. octopus just posted about yesterday and she said that it didn't look so "bold" in person. I'm inclined to think it'll be just fine.... although I'd maybe go lighter with earrings then?

Also, who made your dress? so pretty!

I don't necessarily think it would be too busy, but I think I'm generally more of a fan of simplicity.  I think that necklace could take away from the pretty detail of your dress.

LOVE YOUR DRESS ! I'm thinking you have the rigtht idea, only something more delicate (smaller in size all around) would add elegance without taking away from you or your dress ! I'm sure there are daintier versions around !

Oh wait? You want this necklace in purples and grey? Personally, I'm not a fan of colored jewerlly with a wedding dress unless it's your something blue. I'm not helping, am I ? :(

Thanks all, especially CorgiTales. Maybe back to the drawing board.

Just to give you a sense of my taste, what I previously had my heart set on was this, with a smaller flower a bit more centered:

Also, the dress is by Miosa, a little couture shop here is Sacramento. It's a husband and wife team designing and making all of the dresses.

I prefer the second necklace you posted, no real reason except that it's just more my style. I don't think that either necklace would necessarily be too busy with the dress, but the dress definitely doesn't need a necklace. Have you considered wearing dramatic earrings instead?

@danadelphia: You're right, it doesn't need a necklace, but when I'm honest with myself, I admit that I'm really afraid I'll have a blemish on my chest between now and the wedding. I'm REALLY fair, so if I got a small pimple or even a bug bite today, I'll still have discoloration in 17 days. I kind of want the necklace so that I'm not relying on an expanse of milky white skin.

And boy do I love the flower necklace. At this point, though, I couldn't get it. The designer (etsy) is in Italy.

I also prefer the second.  I'm not sure how they look on but just in my head a drop necklace wouldn't look good with your dress while a choker with a shot of color would look super awesome.

@troubled: Huh. See, I was thinking that due to the sweetheart neckline, a drop is the way to go. Would it change your mind if the ruffles weren't there, or were you already considering that?

Generally, though, really, thanks for all of the honesty Bees.

I think it's the ruffles that makes me think that cause I do agree, usually a sweetheart and drop go together.  But I'm really no fashionista so don't take my opinion too seriously.  I think it's not a busy necklace on it's own but with your dress it just doesn't quite match or something.

I think your mom is correct. With the ruffled neckline, I think you should stay away from the drop style necklaces. I understand where you are coming from as far as the blemish thing too. I am also very fair and will definately be wearing a necklace mostly for that reason. I think that if you got rid of the drop on the first necklace, it would be perfect.

@noritake22: I actually cut the ruffles at the neckline and at the bottom. Would that change your mind?

I found this on etsy... the crystals can be customized. It is undertstated, but I think very beautiful.

Yes, it definately makes a difference.

Does your mom know that you got rid of the ruffles?

I am probably the same age or older than your mom, and I think that without the ruffles, the necklace would work.
