So I have no idea if anyone on the hive can relate....but my church is uber strict.  And for the most part (on the important stuff) I agree with the doctrine.  Others, aren't a big enough deal to me to "disobey" them.  Jewelry (including wedding rings) are against our doctrine.  I find the biblical support for this to be lacking (as do others in our church who either openly wear rings anyway, or wear them outside of church).  Seeing as how I disagree with the doctrine, I would like to wear wedding rings, either openly or in the "closet" as some of us say.  However, my fiance is totally against it.  I should mention that he has grown up attending this church, while my family does not attend and I have only been going there for the last 10 years or so.  He doesn't want to wear one, and he says he's ok with me wearing one, if that's what I want, but I still feel like he disapproves.  I'm frustrated because I wish we could make the decisioun together, but it's kind of an all or nothing thing.  Anyway, I'm not really looking for advice, just needed a place to vent.  :)

That's really interesting and I've never heard of that before. What religion are you? Is there anything that you wear that outwardly shows you are married? Do any of your finace's relatives wear rings? Good luck with your decision :)

I'm sorry to hear that, particularly since you want to wear a wedding ring. Lamb has spoken about this before--something with the gold and it being a 'showy' kind of thing? I can't remember. Is there a reason why he disapproves? Is there any way to make a wedding band less showy (if that's the reason) by changing the material it's made of

Our church is Pentacostal. People in our church don't wear anything to show they are married.  (which I think is weird!)

@ejs--That is the reason.  He thinks diamond rings are "flashy".  I talked to him about doing a plain band and he still didn't seem too happy with the idea. :/
