I have done her 30 day shred. its great for tonig and such, but doens't make you lose a lot of pounds. I also have her banish fat boost metabolism, and it is HARD!!!! i can hardly make it through the whole video!
Yea she is definitely hard! I will try that fat boost metabolism one! The second level on the 30 day shred right now I think has some good cardio so I am hoping it works to shed some pounds!!!
I love the Shred! It's great for getting me motivated to work out every single day, and it's getting me back in shape so that I can move on to more advanced regiments.
I think on average, the people who don't see weight loss are either a) not changing their diet effectively enough - diet is 80% of weight loss - or b) already at a fairly healthy weight/diet, so that they've plateaued with the fast and significant weight loss.
I am on my 4th week of the Shred, and unfortunately, I am still on Level 1. I just want to make sure I am ready to go to Level 2 before I even try. I am doing the workout in conjunction with Weight Watchers. I don't really seem to be losing many inches.. but my calves are super hard and I am noticing a big difference in my upper arms- Aside from teh giggle, I have a tiny bit of definition now! SO I know that the weight lifting part is working. It'll be exciting to see what my arms look like when the giggle goes away.
@Nlmiele - I was scared to start level 2 as well, because I heard such scary things about it! I started it on day 9 of shredding, at the point when after doing level 1 I felt like oh, that wasn't so bad. You might want to be brave and try it soon so your body doesn't get too used to level 1. There are more modifications for the moves on level 2 since they are harder and really, it's not so bad after the first day, which is pure torture.
OK. Well. sigh, maybe I AM just scared :p
I added more weights to my Level 1 workout. I will think about trying it tomorrow. As soon as I wrote that, I was thinking sort of the same thing haha
Ok, so I started level 2 last week after doing level 1 for a week and it is definitely much harder than level 1. So being a crazy person I decided to start doing level 1 and THEN doing level 2 which kills me every day. I have only been doing the dvd for 2 weeks so I haven't seen much of a result, but I imagine I will be on level 2 for awhile. Am I crazy to do them both each day? I took the weekend off because I was sore.
Nimiele - if you added more weights you are def getting a good work out with level one. I would say with level two if certain things are too hard just do what Anita does or do something from level 1 instead that you know you can handle.
Btw, Anita has the best abs ever! haha!
I love Natalie's facial expressions on level 2 - like she's thinking man, I drew the short straw!
Totally! She had no idea what she was getting herself into! I have caught her a few times not squatting when she thinks the camera is not on her! haha!
I just did my first day today! I was surprised at the intensity of it. I am sure I will be sore tomorrow!
I work out three times a week, but mostly do cardio, so today was a little rough! haha My goal is to tone my arms, so hopefully Jillian will help me with that.
I just started the shred and I love it. My arms hate me, but I consider that a good sign! It's really intense! I supplement it with walking/running and yoga on my own.
Angeleri2bee - there is now way you won't get toned arms! I feel like the arm part and the squatting is pretty intense, especially once you get to level 2. Here is to hoping we both get toned arms!
ladyox - I know it is totally intense! I am sore too, but it is surprising how after you do it for a little while, you totally get better and the pain starts to go away!
Do you guys think that this will get rid of love handles?! I have a post where I posted pictures of my belly & if any of yall have seen it maybe you can tell me if it'll get rid of my pudges!!
Lees4308 - I can't find that picture you speak of, but I feel like it should be able to tone you up. I think that is the main focus.
I am beginning to get worried that I won't lose weight and that I will just tone. I would really like to lose like 10 lbs. Should I be doing something else too?
@Lees - I think you have a good shot. There are a lot of exercises that work the obliques and the lower abs. I've noticed a difference in that "pooch" already (about 2 1/2 weeks in). Granted I've been watching what I eat more, too, but even at my thinnest I've never been toned there and now I'm finally seeing evenness! Haha.
Does anybody else share my pet peeve with this video?
I hate when she says "just a couple more" and really means 8 more! haha
I'm loving it, I break a sweat and it doesn't take up a lot of my day!
I know!!!! That annoys me too!! Haha. It also bothers me when Jillian responds to something one of the girls said, but we can't hear them. So i have no idea what she is responding to! Haha!
Yay!! That's good to hear :) I LOVE doing her workouts...but my goodness I've never hurt so bad in my life!
I love this workout. My FI and I both do it and yes, level 2 is intense. I have another week on level 2 before I will try to go to level 3. I am seeing results though. I am doing the DVD in conjuction with Weight Watchers though, so that may be helping.
i just got this today. it is really tough and i am a frequent gym goer but still very out of shape..clearly. did anyone sign up on her website for the 30day access thing?
@Guacamole, I am so glad that I am not the only one who is bothered by this! haha, it makes me laugh when I catch myself grunting at her! haha
@daniellealys: I signed up for the 30day access thing and I never used it :/ If you do sign up make sure that you email customer service right away to remove you from the automatic renewel. After the 30 days it starts charging you $5 a week for the service! (There is no way to just sign up for the free trial w/o auto renewel, you have to email customer service after to get out of it).
My trial is over but I still get her emails for free and they are pretty helpful. I supplement it with sparkpeople and sparkrecipes which are both free :)
Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only one feeling this!!! Too funny!!
The first day I was like "DEAR LORD will it ever end?!" it kiiled me! Also, I work in the NICU so sometimes I get to take care of babies that get fed every three hours....so it's stand up, change diapers etc, sit down and feed the baby...then get up and go to the next kid. Standing up and sitting down all night long hurt! Bad! Oh well...I stopped doing the dang DVD, but I really need to start it up again! I felt changed after a couple of days!
I also tell Jillian off....a lot. She makes me feel very competitive.
Not good ladies, not good. I think I pulled my back out on Friday working out! I had to take the weekend off because I couldn't move!!! And it was the super bowl, and I let my fiance influence me too much and I ate bad food! Hopefully I can get back into it this week and my back will be ok!!!
you guys make me excited to try! i bought the DVD, and it's sitting on my shelf. this will halp with the motivation to actually open the box, pop it into the player and give it a shot. :)
Do it ismini!!!!

I just got the 30 Day Shred DVD by Jillian Michaels and I was wondering if anyone else had tried some of her DVDs and how they worked out for you. I have done it every day this week and I work up a sweat! It's pretty great as far as I can tell. I am sore and I feel accomplished afterward. If anyone else has started is, I was wondering if you are seeing results? I have never watched the Biggest Loser (I have seen clips here and there) so I don't know much about her. The DVD was just recommended to me by a friend. Also, if there are other DVDs that you love and have seen results with let me know! I used to be a dancer and I think that having a more regimented routine is better for me than just going to the gym and running (which I am still planning on doing too). Anyway, let me know what you think of it!
