Why not just tell them that you relocated to be with family? It’s safe, makes it sound like you are settling down and will be around a long time, etc. Telling them it’s for your husband’s schooling makes it sound like you’ll be leaving in 4 years, not like you’ll be stable for 4 years, if that makes sense. While it’s nice of you to consider their thoughts on this, they would never do the same for you. Businesses are in the game to make money, and will drop workers in a heartbeat if it helps their bottom line. Do what YOU need to do to get some experience and be financially stable. You don’t know what you will want/need with any degree of certainty 4 years from now, but you DO know that you need a job in the present. So go get ’em, and only tell them what they need to know!

I am not even sure if they would ask but if they do just say to be with family.

Family worked great for me when I relocated (& I’m pretty sure I was asked EVERYWHERE too). Kept it short, simple, and shows your priorities as being caring and loyal…..

I was in the same position, but moved to a new city a year after Mr. HC so I had only three guaranteed years. I applied at two places, and explained my situation, and was very honest that I was only guaranteed to be there for 3 years, potentially longer, but that I would give 150% while I was there.  I got the job and had a phenomenal experience, and I think it helped us to all have a timeline, but I try to operate with as much transparency as possible.  In my situation, we were not yet engaged, and I think both interviewers were more concerned about a break-up then a cap on time. Good luck!  Also, Mr. HC and I have been together since his first practice MCAT, through med school, and into residency, so if you ever want to chat about being a med school SO, feel free to PM me!!
