You've read ALL her books? Wow! I'm reading Handle with Care right now. I've read quite a few of her books but not all :-)
I really like Nora Roberts. Her books are a bit more romancey but not too bad...
Also Nicholas Sparks is a great author.
I have a few of her books but haven't started reading any yet. I can't wait though!
I second Sunshine with her Nicholas Sparks comment. Only books to make me cry!
@sunshine23- Thanks, I will check out both authors.
@kjpugs- The first two books that I got addicted to were the Pact and My Sister's Keeper. I had a lot of favorites. Vanishing Acts, Perfect Match, Picture Perfect were the ones I could not put down. I like the latest handle with care but it reminded me a lot of My Sister's Keeper in the way that the other daughter's life was completely altered. I guess I loved reading stories with two right answers, morally right and legally right.
@roxy I have such similar favorites... Vanishing Acts, Perfect Match, Keeping Faith, and my abbbbsolute fave Plain Truth. I loved My Sister's Keeper but didn't super-love the Pact.
I met Jodi at a book signing for the Handle with Care one.... it was like meeting the world's biggest celeb. I drove 3 hours for it too!
@kjpugs- Did you see the Lifetime movie on Plain Truth?
Surpringly I never read much and then I go into her books and couldn't stop until I finished all LOL. Now I enjoy reading so I have to find some more good books. House Rules is coming out March 2nd and of course I already pre-ordered it. =)
I DIDN'T see the plain truth one! I saw the 10th circle one and didn't LOVE the book so of course I didn't LOVE the movie and turned it off halfway through.
I haven't read all of hers (I hear some of the older ones aren't that great) but I haven't read 19 minutes, Handle with Care, etc - and will have to get House Rules for my March 22-28 honeymoon!
Jodi is AWESOME!!!
I recommend Jane Green... she's a great author. I have nearly all of her books.
<3
Luckily she seems to come out with a new book once a year!
Wally Lamb is a bit similar-he intertwines deep issues and challenges characters face with great prose. Alice Sebold is also similar in that way, but both can be heavy!
@roxy- I was just at the bookstore yesterday to see if the new book was out yet, I was hoping to take it on vacation. I'm glad you had the research done for me. I've read all of her books as well, right now I'm in to Kristin Hannah (loved Firefly Lane) and Chris Bohjalian (sp?).
Thanks! I now have a couple of new author's to check out! Wow am I a geek, I am excited to read hehe!
I am working my way through all of her books as well. I just finished handle with care. I was looking on her website, when I was trying to decide which one to read next, and she listed a few of her favorite authors. So, I picked up a couple of books from Alice Hoffman. I haven't found an author with similar writing, so I thought maybe she pulls from her favorite authors? I don't know, we'll see!
Also wanted to recommend this website:
i loveeeeee jodi! i definitely can't wait for house rules to come out :)
Nicholas Sparks is a little touch and go for me. Sometimes i love his books and sometimes im a little bored. But i really did like:
The Notebook
The Wedding (^"sequel")
The Choice
& Dear John
and......
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
The Secret Life of Cee Cee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain
^^She also has 3-4 other books out that are newer and sound really good^^
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
hope this helps :)
I loved My Sister's Keeper... I think that's the only one I've read at this point though, but every time I go to the bookstore, I always end up staring wistfully at her other books, wondering if one could even come close to My Sister's Keeper.
I couldn't wait for the movie to come out after I read the book!
I definately plan to read more from her :)
i was really disappointed in the movie for My Sister's Keeper!! i thought it was horrible :(
@okqueenbee - if you like my sister's keeper, youll definitely like more of here books. some of the older ones are harder to get into but most of them are very easy to read. some of my favorites are:
perfect match
nineteen minutes
vanishing acts
salem falls
plain truth
:)
@ Mrs. Menard - vanishing acts is my favorite Jodi Picoult book, as of now at least. I just picked up plain truth I saw a life time movie on it, so I know some of the key parts, but hopefullly it will be better than the movie, as books usually are!
Can't wait until her new book, House Rules comes out March 2nd. Its about a boy with Aspurger.
Oh, I didn't know that she had a new one coming out! Yay!!!!
Try "The Memory Keeper's Daughter." I read that and "My Sister's Keeper" within a few days of each other. It was intense but really good.
Also, if you like fluffy reading (a call it mind candy) try Sophie Kinsella and Madeline Wickham (same author, S.K. is her pen name). Also, there are a few books about the Little Lady Agency. Those are fun too.
I'd recommend Mitch Albom. He's written a few books, and of the ones I've read, I couldn't put them down until I was finished. Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, For One More Day, and there are a couple others I still need to read.
