Jogging strollers

I haven’t had our baby yet, and I am not a committed jogger, but I did recently purchase a city mini jogging stroller. When we bought it I read that the jogging stroller is best suited for infants 6 months and up (unless using a carseat adaptor). According to the website, they recommend waiting until 6 months to jog on smooth pavement and 1 year to jog on rougher terrain. I would check with your pediatrician, though.

Good luck!

We got a jogging travel system (stroller that has the clip-in infant carrier and car seat base) and I started using it within a month of birth.

I didn’t actaully jog with it until 5-6 weeks though.  I started slowly and worked my way up.  I also had a very straightforward, uncomplicated delivery and relatively quick recovery.  I would just listen to your body and your health care provider regarding a safe reintroduction to physical activity.

6 months is the recommended minimum age for jogging on pavement, 12 for trails and gravel etc

@ANewMrs:  Maybe ask the ped?  I jogged on the pavement with DD when she was just over a month, but we had the infant carrier thingy, not just a stroller.  She’s over 7 months now and I’m fairly certain I didn’t jiggle her brain or anything like that.

I have a BOB with shock absorbers. The Bob with an infant car seat on paved walkways I think it will be fine. I plan on fast walking with this system as soon as I am physically able to. I will check w the Ped first but I think it will be fine! Best wishes!

are you talking about a “jogging stroller” or just a regular stroller for walks?  Most of the strollers are not meant for jogging (for example the City Mini by baby jogger is not actually meant for jogging, but they have some that are- at least that is what their website says).  If you use the car seat adapter, you should be able to use it anytime, but if not, my doctor said that we should wait until LO was 6 months (had better head control).

BOB makes a fantastic jogging stroller.

I have a super fancy BOB jogging stroller (the Ironman one!). DD will be born in February, so my first runs with her will probably be when she’s about 3 months old, unless it’s unseasonably warm or cold!

And that will be on pavement.

that one has the inflated tires/shockes and a lockable front wheel -right?  then i would use the car seat for the first few months.

@ANewMrs:  Yeahhhh BOB strollers were cost prohibitive haha.  We have the BabyTrend one and it’s fine for what I need.  I think if we were training for highly competitive races or putting on like 50 miles a week, yeah the BOB would be perfect.

My baby was born in December, so I waited until winter was done and started running with my son in his carseat when he was about 4 months. Started using the stroller alone when he was 6 months.
