I told a 20-something friend of mine that I’m looking forward to seeing the 21 Jump Street movie and she asked me what it was about. What?! I told her it’s based on the TV show and just got a blank stare. How can that be? Oh yeah, it’s because I’m old as dirt and she is too young to have seen the original show on TV. When did this happen?! How can there be people on this planet old enough to legally drink and too young to remember Tom Hanson?!
Did this ever happen to you? Did a cultural reference that somebody younger than you didn’t get make you realize you’re old?

Yep. I’ve been watching a lot of Saved by the Bell lately and I got really depressed when I realized my idols growing up are now in their 40s and young people most likely don’t know/watch the show anymore.
All of the Titanic hoopla is making me feel old. I think I was in 9th grade when it came out, so it’s weird to think about how it’s reaching out to a new crowd of 15 year olds now.
For the record, I also feel really old when I see all of the 90s birth years here on wedding bee. Old enough to get married but born in the 90s??? When did I get so old?!

lol I chuckled when I saw this title. Actually, Johnny Depp gives me hope that people that old can look that good! The man is ageless. 😛
I am a 90’s baby, but just barely. I have friends born in 93 that are getting married this year and people I used to babysit that are engaged.

Already had that convo with my sister last month and she goes ‘Oh, THAT’s why folks are interested. I was wondering why’ D’uh! Well, this thread yesterday was cringeworthy. Folks saying how they were 8 or thereabouts when Titanic came out in the theaters. I almost died!!

Yup. Last week I went out to dinner with DH and a couple random friends and ended up chatting with the new girlfriend of one of his buddies. Somehow we ended up talking about some of our favorite cartoons and I was like ‘OMG, I loved the Thundercats, Panthro was totally my first animated crush’ and she was like…’yeah, I’m not too familiar with that one. I was all about the Fairly Odd Parents when I was a little kid.’
And that’s when I realized that yes, I am old.

It makes me feel super old to realize that there are kids in this world who were not even born yet when 9/11 happened.
