Bah! I'M THE THREAD KILLER!!!!
That sucks about the battery, but AWESOME about the paid off car! I remember sending in my last check (back when I... um, had money to send checks with) and it was an AWESOME feeling!
My DH still does that with our 93 Honda Civic del Sol. We have one of those portable battery chargers in the trunk because we have killed the battery more than once!!
@mighty: i totally have one and am charging it now, before i had like a 2004 ford explorer and had very little problems with it.
@spaniel: i thought i'd be really down about having an older car but honestly it drives sooo good AND the only thing that i can think of when i drive it is 500 per month saved SCORE!!
a paid off car is the best! mine is paid off though it's time to start looking for a new one and i'm sad. i've never had a car payment so i've definitely been spoiled!
and i left my lights on all day once too. ugh, hearing that clicking noise instead of the engine was the worst!
my car is at the repairers (my paid for car so i know how you feel) so i have a brand spanking new loan car from the smash repairers and its black and its diesel and i hate it..... did i mention its a automatic so because i turned off the engine while it was in "drive" i refused to let me take out the car key from the ignition
15mins and 2 phone calls later i get told "put it in park" and it worked - key removed..... d'oh! as homer would say
Well congrats on making a better financial decision for yourself and environmentally friendly one too. Doesn't it feel great to not have a car payment? And coming from a Camry owner myself, it will last as long as you take care of it, I love mine.
eek! Congrats on downsizing :) and I'm glad you found such a good trade in (trade out?)!
Sucks about your lights though... Have you heard about the new jump packs they sell? They're like jumper cables minus the other car! They're supposed to be sweeeet. When I got my brother jumper cables as a gift last month, the guys at the store tried to sell me a jump pack instead - I told them I didn't love him that much though ;)

So some of you know that I no longer have my gas guzzling 600 a month (including insurance) SUV and I purchased a 1991 camry with only 97,000 miles!
Now here's the funny part... I am accustomed to turning off my vehicle and the head lights automatically turning off. Let's say oops that didn't happen and my battery was completely drained when I tried to leave home today! Total Homer Simpson moment.. D'oh!!! But let me tell you when you drive around in something that's paid for it's a very liberating feeling!!!!!
