Is the sash the same fabric? or a contrast? Maybe some of the fabric taken out at the waist can be used to lengthen the sash!
@Ms iPhone: Oh I am so sorry! We also had a bad experience at an Alfred Angelo. My SIL's dress is HUGE and it is the size they ordered, but it had to be taken in 4" in the chest, 2" in the straps and shortened. But the big problem occured with my mom's dress. You know how they say all their dress are made to order for you and not from another store or used?! Well my mom's dress came in with deodorant stains all on the inside!!! It was so nasty. All the women at the store would do was reorder the dress and put it on rush, no discount.
However, my mom was so grossed out that she called the area manager and ended up getting her money back for the dress. If you really suspect that the store ordered the wrong size I would call the area manager and talk to them. They can reorder for you in the correct size or you could be eligible to get your money back. I know they made you sign a waiver for their "no refunds policy" but if they are in the wrong they will want to correct it and clear their names. The area manager is the only one that can do this, not the ladies at the store you went to. Good luck!
@daydreamwanderer : The sash is a completely different color and material then the rest of the dress. We are going to see if maybe elastic can be added inside.
@ Sanddollar: That is so disgusting! I would be livid if that happened to my mom. How would I get in contact with their area manager? Just call the store and ask for his/her #? Ugh, they really need to train people there on how to take proper measurements it's so frustrating to pay for a dress and then have to pay another arm and a leg for alterations.
Thanks ladies!
I called the store and got the # for their District Manager. The girl who took the measurements for the dress is no longer there (convenient). I'm taking in my jr bridesmaid tomorrow to see what they can do to fix this. Then also calling the district manager to see if we can get a discount on the dress and alterations because of their mistake.
@Ms iPhone: That sounds like a great plan! We didn't complain about my SIL/MOH dress measurements being off because we were so overwhelmed by my mom's.
Just to let you know the district manager never said anything about getting the dress for a discount only our money back or pay full price for a replacement. Also, they did some "research" on the dress and said "We don't know how this happened. The dress came from China and when arrived here. We only open it to check that is the correct dress and size. The inside of the dress was never opened or touched". Umm my mom is totally convinced that the dress was NOT made for her like they state and was somehow returned by someone else.
@ SandDollar---Thanks! Yes, the asst mgr at the store asked me what I wanted and I said a discount on the dress and a discount on alterations for their mistake. She said she didn't have authority to do that. I'll see what happens tomorrow, but, either way I am calling the district manager.
@Ms iPhone: Definitely call! My mom said that even if they wouldn't do anything she still wanted them to know about what had happened. There is also a survey you can fill out. They usually have information about them on the checkout counter.

I've been pretty easy going with the wedding planning but, today Bridezilla is rearing it's head...
Alfred Angelo in West Covina gets an F in my book today. One of the jr bridesmaid dresses came in and it's much too big--it falls all the way to the floor when it's supposed to be tea length--also, the little bow sash in the front is 2 inches too small! How is that even possible if the dress fits her so darn?
We had the measurements taken prior to ordering the dress and asked the sales consultant if the dress wasn't going to be too long since it's supposed to be tea length. She assured us it would all fit perfectly. Apparently she also failed to mention based on her measurements the sash would be 2 inches too small for her. She said the dress would fit her perfectly.
The store is obviously not taking the blame and insinuated that my jr bridesmaid had gained weight--which we know for a fact she hasn't--she's actually lost a couple pounds.
I feel terrible for her mom who now has to figure out where and how to possibly make this dress fit/work. It looks as though the dress will have to be taken apart and put back together because if it's hemmed from the bottom it'll lose ll the pretty lace detail.
Sorry Bees, just a vent today.
