I really enjoyed the movie too. Meryl Streep was so good! I loved seeing Julia's relationship with Paul, too; they seemed so in love.
Going to see it in about an hour! I'm so excited! I absolutely loved the book.
Saw it with my mom. Super cute movie! Now I want the book, along with Julia Child's French cookbook.
I read the book a few years ago and really liked it, and I definitely wanted to see the movie too......but you know what I just learned last night? Julie Powell's next book, which is coming out in December, is about how she had an affair with an old high school boyfriend after the release of the first book! That really put a damper on her whole story for me!
That's interesting news, carrie.a.s.b. -- because when the OP mentioned healthy relationships, I thought that there was nothing healthy about Julie & Erik! At least in what was shown, she didn't do anything for him except beg him to come back.
Anyway.... I loved the movie! I also read Julia Child's book. It's so interesting to think that in her day cooking was something for servants, and any person who had to cook for her family would prefer something quick than to cook. Julia Child is a hoot!
That is interesting about the next book. Wow. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I want to. I really enjoyed Julie and Julia the book, though. Fun and fast read.
Wow, that's too bad about Julie... well, when I mentioned healthy relationships I was more referring to Julia and Paul.
I really want to see the movie, but I wanted to read the book first. I started it and I'm having a hard time getting into it. Granted I'm only probably 3/4 of the way through the first chapter, but for some reason it's not grabbing me. Should I stick with it?
Yes! Stick with it! It is so funny and wonderful. I promise, it gets better.
LOVE this movie but I also love Julia Child. It was a great feel good movie. Meryl Streep was amazing. My fiance just bought me the book as well as Julia's book on her life in France. I've started with that 1st & can't put it down, really great. I love to cook & bake so I can really relate to the cooking parts of it. She's quite a fascinating woman.
I liked this movie. I really liked the Julia Child parts, but found the Julie parts a little whiny and boring.
I was SO shocked that I liked it so much. Obviously it had me at the blogging part of hte movie...but I think that the previews really didn't show how HILARIOUS it was going to be. One of my bridesmaids and I went to see it together and we laughed SO hard! Great movie!
I really wanna see this movie! I just need someone to watch it with me =)
I saw J&J and really liked it! Now I'm reading "My Life in France" which Julia Child wrote w/her grandnephew (her husband's brother's grandson?). I highly recommend both (though I'm only 1/3 of the way through the book).
I wanna see it but haven't had the time yet! It sounds fantastic! I remember seeing Julia Child on tv as a kid and thought her accent was so unique!
I loved this movie. I wanted to quit my job and just cook and blog. I can't wait to own the movie.
@Jessice516 - i had the same thought of the movie. The book was uninspiring and I found her to be trite and annoying and her writing not that great. The movie was TONS better than the book by far - Meryl Streep does WONDERS for Julia Child :)

Anyone else see it? My mom and I caught it the other day and I thought it was adorable! I definitely recommend it. The movie combines some of favorite things- cooking, blogging, France and healthy, supportive relationships. I liked it so much I plan on picking it up on dvd when it comes out!
