So what are you all working on this month? I have:
– finalizing the menu with my caterer
– assembling, addressing, and mailing the invites (eek!)
– figuring out the men’s attire (shirt and ties)
– putting pen to paper on the ceremony
I want to see what you all are working on to guage if I should take on more. Thanks!

The biggest things on my to do list are:
– Make and address the invitations
– Hire a caterer!
– Hire a photographer!
– Pick out the cake
It isn’t as bad as it sounds, we know who want to cater, we just have to make sure they are licensed (we do have a backup). I also know who I want for the photographer, but we need to find time to meet with him.
@monitajb, sounds like you are doing really well!

@ kartz: Thanks! We hired our caterer and photographer last month, so you don’t need to tell me about doing things, um, on a different schedule.

– Figure out the ceremony decor
– Buy groomsmen gifts

My biggest thing is invites. Get them printed, assembled, and mailed out! We took our envelopes to the calligrapher yesterday. I am working on the wording for our reception card.Maps for the invites.
- Hire a bakery.
- DIY chair signage
- Find BM shoes and jewelry
- Find MOB dress
- Finish website
- Finalize GM tuxes
- Find flower girls’ dresses
Also some little stuff.
- Buy cake cutting knife
- Buy our toasting flutes
Get started on
It seems like a lot, but I have a week off for spring break, so I plan to get a lot of my April stuff done that week!

We don’t have a cake or flowers but I have ideas. The big thing I need to do this month is pick out our rings, in case they need to be ordered. Other than that, this month we have to figure out how we’ll light our paper lanterns, buy what’s needed for that and test it out.
Then it’s a zillion little things…..

-Work on invites! I bought a kit from Michael’s and planned to print them myself, but FH and I have a big move coming up next week and invites are the last thing on my mind right now, so we’re thinking about saving ourselves the hassle and just going to get them printed. Either way, they need to get printed and assembled soon so we can send them out early next month!
-Figure out the ceremony. I tried to write the programs the other day and realized I have NO CLUE about any of the details in the ceremony.
-Hope that the bridesmaids dresses come in so I can finalize the guys’ attire and the flowers (I need to see the color of the dresses to make a final decision on both)
-Meet with the day-of-coordinator I just decided to hire yesterday
-Meet with the organist to discuss ceremony music
-Get FH to start working on the music for the reception! We’re doing an iPod reception and FH’s big task is the playlist.
And of course, a ton of little things!

I’m a new member of this website (although have really enjoyed reading the blog for a while) and have just come across this helpful post – so glad I found you!
I’m a 31 July bride too so am counting down with you! It’s very interesting to read how you Bees do things on your side of the pond compared to over here in the UK.
My invites went out last week. The other big jobs for this month are to
~ Book a coach to transport guests back to hotels at the end of the night
~ Buy our wedding rings (pretty fundamental job…!)
~ Hire the guys suits
~ Begin a playlist of songs for during the meal and in between our live bands sets – easy since we asked all guests to make a suggestion on their RSVP cards!

Oh boy I still have sooo much to do.. To Do List for this month:
– Find a videographer
– Schedule an app. with photographer to take pics for invites.. and actually take them like next weekend (i know we are behind on that.. We just got our photographer.. Plus we dont have anyone out of state coming so we will be hand delivering out invites.. the whole process should take about 2 weeks)
-Find a cake I like ( my FI mom is the best at making cakes.. shes doing our cake for us.. she has a Gods given talent for cakes.. super happy about that)
– Decide on which flowers to go with
-Make sure our pastor is not busy on the day we need him
* If I do this much this month boy will i be happy! 🙂

Well, as ya all said – this monht the invites are the big task. I’ve made the wording and come up with a general design idea, but I really need to kick my butt in gear and get them done. Also we need to get the official paperwork done. We also need to decide what cake we’re gonna bake! Currently the battle rages between Mocca/Chocolate and Strawberry Tiramisu.

I’m focusing on decor & flowers (DIY from fabric) this month. We’d like to start looking around at wedding bands, but FI’s schedule is so hectic with work and studying for his licensing exam. I’m probably going to try & hone in on ceremony music as well.
Other than that, I feel pretty ahead of the game=)

I’m feeling pretty good for now….I think that by this time next month, I might feel a little different! 🙂 I’m planning on:
-finalizing BM/MOH dresses (going to JCrew next weekend)
-putting together the invitations and getting them all calligraphied (my mom is doing them! 🙂
-figuring out the centerpieces, and testing flowers
-finding a florist (apparently I’m way behind on this? Still might DIY)
-booking our transportation (finishing this today/tomorrow)
-starting to work with our officiants on our ceremony!
My fiance is a chef, and a friend of ours that is a pastry chef is making our cake, and I’m not terribly worried about this, but might start tossing some flavor ideas around. I’d also like to get my list together for the bathroom baskets, and maybe start picking up some things using some CVS coupons that we have!
Otherwise, we’re in good shape! Just a lot of little things! 🙂
