I was wondering who else on WeddingBee is getting married in July 2011. How much you have you planned so far? Do you have any idea what your wedding colors will be and possibly what flowers you'll be using?
My FH and I got engaged this past Oct. I've booked the venue, know which band I plan to book, and am currently meeting with photographers and videographers. I will likely use fuschia or a similar shade as my main color. I love peonies, and hope they're in season in July, and will probably incorporate orchids and curly willow branches or a similar looking plant to mimic cherry blossoms, since I know they're not in season then.
My colours are Fuschia and sage....
Im looking at tiger lilies as my fower since they have the fuschia and are gorgeous.
Im getting really excited planning it out and even thugh it still seems so far away it will come FAST. On NEw Year i was just excited to offically be able to say im getting married "next year"...hahaha
Good luck with all the planning and congrats :)
I am glad to see that even though our wedding isn't for another 18 months that wedding planning has been started for all of us July 2011 brides!!! I love to get a head start on things and especially get ideas for what we invision our wedding looking like. Also might I add since we are getting married in my Fi's homestate of Georgia and we reside currently in IL it makes things a little more tough. (ie: unable to just drive out and see venues, menu tasting, florists, photographers, etc etc) With that said I plan on doing a lot of DIY's.
So far our lists of what we are 100% sure is:
Colors: Fuschia and Apple green
Our budget since we are paying for it ourselves (think its better that way)
Date: July 16, 2011
Late Afternoon ceremony (thinking 5ish)
Location: Northeast Georgia (fi is from Fannin county)
Would like to keep the guest list to 100-115
Menu will be a southern bbq buffet with all the fixins'
Cupcake tree cake instead of traditional tiered cake.....we will still have a small cake on top that we cut into as a couple though but rahter then sliced cake we will serve cupcakes!
My list of DIY's to be started once the supplies is bought:
*Save the date cards
*Invites
*Ceremony programs
*All bouquets and bouts
*Centerpieces for reception
*Guest favours
*Part of the bridesmaid and maid of honor gifts (buying wine glasses and painting their initial on the front and adding polka dots plus having our wedding date on bottom) don't worry they will be getting more gifts that's just what I am diy'ing
*Bathroom Baskets
*Cupcake tree stand (ordering from cupcaketree.com comes in plain white and I plan on adding scrapbook paper and flowers in our colors to pretty it up)
Wow I'm shocked that all of us chose fuschia as a wedding color, and the both of you chose a shade of green as well!
Date: July 16, 2011
Colors: Red and Yellow
Wedding is chosen.
Ceremony and reception venues are booked.
Guest list is created (270, eek!).
We're now looking into photographers.
This is my first post! I will be getting married July 9th, 2011! We originally wanted to do it this spring/summer, but both my FSIL and my friend are getting married this August, and I'm a bridesmaid in both weddings. No time to plan my own! So, we're waiting one more year which will allow us to save and plan at a relaxed pace.
I'm thinking about some vibrant summer colors: Orange and Fuschia or Violet and Green
We've booked our Venue and pretty much chosen our caterer. Now I'm looking for a photographer. Oh yeah, and trimming our guest list down to a reasonable number!
@Barker86 I'm really impressed by how much you've done already. Makes me feel like a slacker
Hapa: Welcome to the board!!! Glad you found it I think it will come in handy to have other brides to share the stress and joys of wedding planning who plan to tie the know the same month and year!!
I really haven't done much except the basic choosing of our wedding. I have a TON to do that I haven't even begun. All my DIY projects are planned out with what supplies is needed to buy and what not but nothing is actually STARTED! Ahhh the more I think about I should prolly start buying supplies for them. I feel like it is so far away so I would hate to start to buy supplies and making plans with venues, photographers, caterers etc. But on the other hand I would like to know where we are having our wedding and reception so I can start "mapping" out the details. If only my FI would get on board with that idea.....plus it doesn't help that we reside in Illinois and we are planning the wedding in my FI's homestate of Georgia.
@Hapa - We are date twins!!
We have been engaged since August 2008 so I have been itching to start planning this thing for a while now! We finally booked the church over the holidays, and right now we are looking at reception venues and photographers. Oh, and I'm going dress shopping on Friday too! We have completed a tentative guest list as well (seeing as things might change in the next 18 months).
Our colours are white, apple green, and bit of black, and I'm thinking of adding some purple or yellow accents. I just want the look to be very crisp and fresh.
Other than that, I have a lot of inspiration for other things (I have a year and a half of ideas under my belt!) so I will probably start working on the details later in the year. We'll see how it goes!
I'm so excited that it's finally time to get started though, and even more excited that we finally have our own month board!
Edit to my previous post—I just read it and realized I left out a word:
*Wedding PARTY is chosen.
:)
Hm...I originally had set a June date and now have to switch it to later, so I'm looking into July. What made you guys choose July? I'm just worried it's going to be very warm and I'll look shiny in pictures and that people may be taking their holidays in July. Any concerns when booking your July dates??
@Lorna247 I'm in Montreal too! Have you booked your venue??
I chose July 4th because it was on a long weekend. I have a lot of family and friends that live across the country and the world, so I thought it'd make it easier for them.
I'm not worried about the heat, as it'll be an evening wedding, and would take heat over rain, since the ceremony'll be outdoors!
Since you're in Montreal, Swedish Berry, it shouldn't be too too bad weather-wise! It could be a lot worse!
Im July 1, 2011 and I am going to book my reception and church within the next week or two...the other stuff I will wait til the spring or summer.. I just want to know at least that I have a date and place set!! Im glad to see I am not doing this too early myself! is anyone else getting married on Friday July 1?
I'm a July 2011 Bride!!!!!!!
I chose July 3rd because my Fiance was born on the 7th and me on the 3rd, plus its a long weekend and we Love the 4th of July so our 1st full day of officially being married will be spectacular!
So far I've done the following:
Colors- Floral Pink and Sky Blue
Purchased bands
Purchased Dress/Veil
Visted Venue- no commitment yet
I look forward to doing a lot more! Congrats Ladies, We're getting married next year!
Oh! And another plus about a July 4th wedding--all the fireworks free of charge!
How funny how many people have chosen fuschia as one of their colors! I've actually chosen a similar color too--my colors are magenta, slate grey, and a touch of chartreuse for an accent. I guess the vibrant pink is the perfect color for summer ceremonies :)
We're leaning towards July 24, 2011 as our date (or possibly July 10). We initially were planning for a September 2010 wedding, but pushed it back to 2011 when we realized how much this was going to cost us!
That said, the new July date gives us more time to save up.
Our desired venue won't take reservations over a year out, so that's on hold for now. But I've been scouring sites for ideas on dresses, invitations, decor, etc., although nothing concrete has really been done yet. I've subscribed to tons of bridal magazines and have created a few binders full of ideas. I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one who has started planning this far out, though!
@Swedish_Berry: I am a grad student, and I will be getting my masters in June of 2011, and my FI is going to be a teacher, so he will start teaching in August of 2011...so July it was!
If I had my choice of any month, I may not have picked July, but now that I have July, I love it!!!!!
C'est vrai mon amie Stephanie!! It's true that by the time the ceremony is over, cocktails will be very late in the afternoon and it should cool down...I feel better already. July 9 it is!
My fiance and I just changed our date from 1/22/2011 to 7/2/2011...so I am now officially an JULY Bride. I have been engaged for about 13 months and we haven't done that much. We are slackers.
Date: July 2, 2011
Colors: Black and White damask and Apple Green
Ceremony site : Waiting for confirmation
Reception site: booked
Guest list has to be 215 max. We are sending out 125 invites so hopefully not everyone would like to bring a date.
We're now looking into photographers, videographers, planning our menu (seen it will be cheaper to cater it ourselves to save money and all of my family loves to cook), looking at STDs because of the holiday.
Good Luck July Brides!
We are getting married July 3, 2011. We are saving money by getting married on a Sunday. It's something to consider if you are on a budget! It's a holiday weekend, 4th of July being on Monday, so guests shouldn't have any opposition to attending a Sunday wedding.
So far, we have booked our ceremony and reception venue, created our guest list, and browsed through ideas for colors. Detailed planning will begin this summer.
Congrats everyone!
We're also July 2011, thinking about either the 23rd or 30th. So far we've got our colors narrowed down to Teal and Red/or Magenta. I can't do much until the summer as we're going back to where we're from for the ceremony/reception, opposite side of the country!! Good luck and congrats to all!!
July 2nd over here!! So excited about it! I'm a Summer girl, and Fourth of July is my favorite holiday (next to Christmas, but you know). We've already booked the venue, and I'm hoping to book the caterers within the next month or so. It sounds crazy, but I swear it's not. The mister is most likely going to deploy to Afghanistan within the next few months. I really want to get the reception site (check!), and the caterer/rentals set before I don't have a chance to get his opinion.
July 3rd here too!! We were hoping for April but our venue was only available July 3rd, and that ended up being convenient for our out of town guests so we snatched it up. We've also decided on (but not officially booked) our photographer and band. I bought my dress a few weeks ago, and just hired a wedding planner and asked my bridesmaids this weekend. We think we've picked our colors (black, ivory, beige/gold, with accents of pale pink and peach). We're working on our theme right now (he is from LA so he wants to do fleur de lis, I want to do crowns or keys, so we're thinking we may go "European vintage" and combine all three). My busy work season starts now and doesn't end until August, so I'm putting off most of the wedding planning until after summer.
Hello, I'm getting married 7/23/11!!
we have booked the venue, decided on our wedding colors,
I'm very likely ordering my dress this weekend,
and.....we have 90% of our wedding party comfirmed
and the flower girl is secured
I feel like we still have a lot of time =)
Since Im getting married on fourth of july weekend, I am having indoor sparklers go off when then then announce us in, and im having cake sparklers, and im giving sparklers tied together as favors...I though this was a cute idea for any brides getting married around 4th of july! :)
July 9, 2011
We chose July because it will be an outdoor evening wedding and we don't want rain!!! We chose the 9th instead of the fourth because I'm marrying a yankee doodle boy, his birthday is the fourth. Also a summer wedding because before we even talked about the wedding we decided on our honeymoon. Two weeks of romantic, secluded tent camping in the rocky mountains. That might sound crazy if you didn't know us but we are not really beach people and we want to save money so European hiking was out. We both love hiking and camping and canoeing and anything outdoorsy. I have planned almost everything, just waiting to put plans into action.
July 23rd ftw! [unless we bump it to august to accomodate for other weddings happening before ours].
We've picked our venue and are waiting for confimation/availability.
Picked our colours [blues] & major flowers [we're DIY'ing from our own gardens; tigerlilies & day lilies ftw]
just the major things to tackle now, like photog, food, dress/suit, and the big debate $1000 for a JoP or $50-100 for a minister/priest [which we really aren't sure about going with.
July 30!!!! So excited since we have had to change it like three times already but this time its set in stone!! Since I am planning the wedding from several states away when I was home at Christmas I took care of booking the church, the reception venue, and the photographer which is a big stress reliever. We have also picked the colors, wedding party, BM dresses and created our wedding website. My sister (who is also my MOH) is coming to town so we are going to try on dresses this weekend. Yay! I have already started coming up with ideas for everything else because I've kind of been planning this for awhile in my head. I will probably make another trip this summer to try and knock out as much as I can like florists and DJs and engagement pictures :)
We're getting married July 2, 2011 (Go JULY 2011!!!)
Out colors and black, white, and yellow (we're HUGE bruins fans!). We have the following done so far:
I am a firm believer in getting as much done ahead of time as possible. Less to worry about as you get closer to the big day
Next July seems SOOO far away! but I have a feeling it will come faster than we think!!!
We're getting married 7/9/11! We haven't done much planning yet. We've looked at venues, and are deciding between a couple. I also chose my bridal party, and tried on a few dresses, but that's about it!
Has anyone run into problems with vendors being booked already? We got a call from one of the venues we had looked at, saying that another couple was interested in our date. Makes me kinda nervous!
July 9, 2011 here! We just finalized the date last week when we booked our reception venue.
So far we have:
budget
tentative guest list (180)
church/pastor
reception venue/caterer
photographer
colors (fuschia and orange... although the bridesmaids will be in black)
... and lots of crazy ideas!
Sometimes I want to fast-forward to next July... but planning is so much fun (so far)!
When we booked our date (july 9th) It was only 1 of 3 dates left for the entire June-August summer period. So we snatched it up!
So far, we have our budget, venue/caterer, weddingparty has been asked, tentative guest list is set(165) photographer, and DJ.
So most of the big stuff is booked, now just gathering inspiration and ideas to look into this summer :)
So many July 2011 weddings out there! Great to see I am not the only one already working on DIY projects and planning. We chose July because my fiance is English/Swiss and we needed a date when all of our young American/English/Swiss guests are on summer vacation. While we are not actively seeking to invite children, we can't expect family from England and Switzerland to leave their kids behind for a week!
We are planning a formal evening wedding in Chicago, so I figured a head start could only help. We've already booked our downtown venue/caterer, reception music, photographers, photo booth, and working on booking our rehearsal dinner/wedding eve venue (so excited about it...a Chicago River/Lake Michigan dinner cruise!). Since we are marrying on a Sunday, our wedding eve party will be on a Saturday night. The city of Chicago has a free fireworks show and we will take full advantage of that! I will probably leave DOC, makeup/hair, flowers, and officiant alone for a while.
I have a HUGE list of DIY projects and just ordered a whole bunch of supplies on the web tonight. I am getting in touch with my inner craft-self. I already did some easy monogrammed hangers and handmade "will you be my bridesmaid" cards based on a Rifle Design I found on Once Wed. Supplies aren't cheap though, I probably spent a good $100 on bone folders, envelope liner templates, paper cutters, self-healing mat, etc. just to get started. BUT, I am hoping I'll get use out of all that stuff for years to come.
Is anyone else planning a ton of DIY? I really want to make my own invitations based on something originally designed by Mr. Bodington's Studio. I just can't justify spending $3000 on paper products, so I am determined to learn how to maneuver around Adobe Illustrator! Anyone else trying this too?
Hi Vaness- I'm also doing a lot of DIY. Anything I can DIY that's what I'm planning on doing. Invitations will definitely be included in that list. The generic supplies like bone folders, paper cutters, etc. will be useful for a while even after the wedding, as will left over scraps and papers!! Good luck with all of it.
What all were you planning on DIYing?
@ninjadarling: Pretty much all the paper products...invites, programs, escort cards, personalized dinner menus, all signage, OOT packs and brochure, STD, table numbers, bathroom baskets, card box, favors, kids packs for reception, and more! I already made monogrammed hangers for the bridesmaids and mothers. I also plan on doing a lot of "branding" for the wedding, so the OOT pack will have water bottles with a personalized label, etc. I might even do door hangers! I should probably stay away from wedding blogs because there are just too many ideas to do them all!
There are also projects we'd do around the house in preparation. We are having a welcome BBQ at our house one night, a rehearsal dinner the next, and the wedding on the third night. So I just have little projects here and there. I also want to do a candy buffet, but I don't want my venue to do it for $2500. I am not sure they will let me, so I might have to do that at our welcome dinner instead on a smaller scale. We are putting up a white vinyl privacy fence in the back (we live in Chicago and not all of our neighbors keep their backyards neat) and plan to line the fence with perennial flowers this summer. And we have to paint our back porch, etc. I realize that it's not necessary a true DIY wedding project, but aside from the fence, we plan to do everything ourselves :)
@Swedish Berry:
We picked July because a lot of our close friends/family will be in college/university until April and will need some time to make money to get out of 'school' mode; that and a LOT of people come back over the summer (we're having our wedding in our hometown). That, and as my FI kindly pointed out to oh-so oblivious me, July 23 2011 is the 7 year anniversary of the day we met.
@ninjadarling & vaness
I plan on doing a lot of DIY myself! all the paper stuff Invites, RSVPs, STD's (except envelopes) I'll be doing on the PC at home, and we'll be DIY'ing our flowers as well.
Other than that my FMIL wants to DIY the food/drink for the reception, which is awesome (she used to be the head chef for a 5 star hotel in Hawaii).
It's over a year away, but I have to admit, I'm overly excited already.
Hi everyone!
7-9-11. Love the date and the progression of numbers in the date (I'm wierd like that.)
So far I have booked the ceremony/reception venue and my wedding planner.
I have top 5 lists for the rest (photographer, dj, caterers)
Colors will be fuschia and orange with aqua accents.
Welcome and congratulations, @maryv! Sounds like you're making great progess so far!
im thinking of having my wedding july 3, it helps to have a wedding on sunday due to costs.. does anyone know if its a long weekend in canada?
