Sorry, I am July 10th and nobody has theirs on a Sunday either.
You already found me on another thread. :)
@amberpdidit: hello other date twin!!
I'm loving the whole Friday deal. From every vendor I've worked with so far I've gotten the same response: "Your wedding is on a FRIDAY??!? We LOVE Friday weddings!!!! Here's a discount!" :)
@Ms Hedgehog: It's all good. We played around with the idea of Sunday as well but decided on Friday. Tell me about your wedding!!!
@meladoug: I loooove the Friday deals we are getting. We were already sure we'd get discounts from the venue but we're getting discounts from allllll vendors. The venue threw in ALOT of extras for free bc of our Friday date and bc we booked right away during an open house.
Since our guest list is so small (75 ppl) we aren't having ANY trouble with the fact that it's on a Friday. I figured if we invited everyone we knew ever there would be complaints.
@amberpdidit: Oh goodness. I didn't see your response up there. I'm THRILLED to have date twins (and my Sunday July 10th bee!! LOL.)
So where is everyone in your planning? On schedule, on budget, on MEDS/PILLS??? Hahahaha!!!
So far we are on schedule... I think.. HAHA! We have all the big stuff done (caterer, florals, photography, DJ, etc.) but there are soooo many little things I need to get done. In the next couple of weeks I'm hoping to order the invitations and take care of the guys' formalwear.
I'm a July 22nd bride also! It's fun to see there are others. Getting married on a Friday coupled with the fact that we're planning everything under the one-year mark has given us some amazing prices with vendors. It's still expensive though!
I have a question about invitations: when are you sending them out and when are you making your RSVP date?
I don't know how often you girls will check back on this board so I might also post the question on the main July board.
How cool to find date twins or quadruplets!
That's my (and my twin sister's) birthday! It actually came down to either the 9th or the 30th. My FI gracious let us take earlier in the month so I could still claim I was 27 when I got married, instead of 28. :)
i think invitations are probably the most important thing i need to do this month!!! we cannot leave this month (March) w/out invites and getting our guest list finalized (which has been a pain since we have such a small guest list of only 75 ppl).
other than that i have all the big stuff done as well. just starting to drill down the details.
Wai a minute ladies! WIll someone explain the discounts! I haven't gotten that reaction at all.
What vendors discounted for Friday.
I am actually really bummed about Friday at the moment. Help me see the plus side please.
@amberpdidit: WHAT?!! You haven't been offered less expensive services for having your wedding on Friday instead of Saturday? We saved almost 2 grand on the venue where we are holding the ceremony and reception bc we are hosting it on a Friday. We are sure to mention it, just saying July 22, 2011 may not set off signals with the vendors. I always say FRIDAY July 22, each time I talk about the wedding. Even to my friends and family/guests so that it rings in their heads that it's not on Saturday. We are negotiating HEAVILY with photographers bc the wedding is on a Friday and got alot of thrown in extras with catering and the venue. Not so much the DJ though....I guess he most likely would have had an event on a Friday night either way. LOL.
Gals, we are getting SUPER CLOSE to the double digits!!
When are you all sending out your invites?
@amberpdidit: Most of my guests have said that they are very pleasantly surprised that our wedding is on a Friday. To some people, a Saturday wedding really blows their entire weekend (ceremony starts in mid afternoon on Saturday and goes until that night and then Sunday is spent resting up). I was able to get a $1000 discount on my venue rental plus a $3000 drop in the catering minimum. My photobooth guy is also giving us 10% off. I agree with @katieebee, you probably need to heavily emphasize that this is a FRIDAY wedding.. after I clarified that with my photobooth company they brought up the discount.
@nil: The things I have left to do: send invitations, do programs, meet with officiant, settle on ceremony music, do escort cards, figure out something for menus and table numbers, pin down GM attire, have my hair trial, figure out a guest book... ahhh the list keeps growing!
YES!!! I blogged about hitting the 99 day mark the other day!! It's goiong by so fast!! Good news is, we are doing awesome at staying on track and on BUDGET!!!
My wedding is Friday July 22, 2011 too!!! I can't believe how close we are to our day girls!!! :) It's so exciting.
I am on vacation this week so I am working on our invitations, favors and menus! I also am going on a shoe hunt! Does anyone have any reasonably priced shoes they could suggest that are comfortable for a garden wedding?
Good luck everyone and happy planning!
@kristen6734:Yaaay for Friday brides!! Yaayyy for date twins!!
I got ALOT done this weekend. Hobby lobby had almost EVERYTHING 50% off!! Getting down to the details!! Time is tick tick ticking away!
I still don't have my main shoes. I DIY'ed some flip flops bc the already made bridal ones can be expensive and I thought I could do them for much cheaper and much more customed to what I like and I DID!! I'm doing a flip flop bucket for guests so it will be appropriate. My wedding is indoors on that Friday evening so I can go for style instead of comfort, but certainly INEXPENSIVE since I'll be changing out of them anyways.
2 months from today ladies!
I just gave my dress to the tailor and now it feels so close.
What is the number one item on everyone's to do list? (hopefully it will jog my memory on things we need to do :) )
@amberpdidit: My #1 concern right now is trying to figure out what I want to do for my programs.
I can't believe we are getting so close!!
50 days. I am feeling like it is time to get things officially done (rather than in progress)
MAN!!! Can you believe how fast that went?!!! We are saving and not doing any programs. But our ceremony is pretty simple and we don't have a bridal party.

It's a Friday night so I know there won't be many but I was just wondering are there any other 7/22/11 brides out there?
