Anyone else taking advantage of the three day holiday weekend? :)
Mine is Sunday evening, July 3rd.. We have a lot of out of town guests and we figured this would be super convenient for them to not have to take any time off work or school.
my 30th bday is july 2nd!! and i think a great day to get married :D
We are! Sort of. We're getting married on July 2nd! It works perfectly for people traveling, especially all his Army friends. They will have a 4 day weekend. I'm so so excited for it!
I'm getting married on July 3rd 2011 too!!! I think it will honestly be the BEST DAY of the yr, lol. Sunday's always have this gentle beauty about them and our first day as a married couple will be SPECTACULAR since it will be the 4th of July! Not to mention almost every reception venue we look at has cheaper prices on Sunday.
It will be a phenonmal 3 day weekend and I know our guest will be delighted. That day also has special meaning to my FI and I since he was born on the 7th and I the 3rd :)

I wanted to do this! We were going to have the wedding the weekend of Memorial Day. In the end we just chose a different random Friday because the cost was significantly less.
Me too! July 3, 2011 bride here! We are also taking advantage of the 3 day weekend for OOT guests....and the summer weather here in Chicago. We were scared of doing it for the spring, fall, or winter because you never know what Chicago weather will bring. It can snow in the spring and we wouldn't be surprised. 
We have guests from other countries (Philippines & Australia) and they are excited to see how Americans celebrate their 4th of July! I can't wait to show our guests "stuff Americans do"! (Hotdogs & fries, baseball, downtown Chicago, deep dish pizza, etc.)
Not only do I love that it's a three day weekend, but also, I love the date of 7/2/2011. Ok, bear with my dorkiness, but I love that the date is "couple-y" - first there's the "2" in July 2 (as in two people), then there's another 2, skip the 0, and then there are two 1s (which I can see possibly used in a cheesy way like two stick figures holding hands that represent the two 1s). Also, the 7 "kind of" can look like a 2. Alright I'm done... I figure this is probably the best place to share my dorky thoughts as the outside world will probably think I'm ridiculous...! :)
p.s. hazel920, we have guests coming from the Philippines and Australia also that weekend. Maybe some of them will travel through Chicago to Louisville (where my wedding will be held) and cross paths.

My fiance and I are also taking advantage of the holiday weekend... so excited for our 7-3-11 wedding. Only 455 more days :)
Just found this post and I love it! We are also getting married July 3, 2011. Lots of out of town guests and having the wedding in Rochester, NY-- so the weather is always unpredictable (our wedding will still be inside!). Are you guys doing anything holiday-related? We're going to have sparklers and our colors are navy, red (shoes!) and light blue.
@ spiffykatie -- we're doing sparklers too! Our venue is on the water, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some fireworks from the town. lol
July 3 and SOOOOOOO excited for the holiday weekend!!!! Also, all of our guest will be OOT (we are getting married 6hrs away from home were we went to college). SO we defintiely wanted to take advantage of the 3day weekend! And I am so excited that every year we will get to celebrate our anniversary with a firework show!!! :)
I just booked my venue for July 2, 2011. Before I read this post, I was REALLY worried that everyone would be annoyed that I chose a holiday weekend. I'm feeling a lot better about it now!
I am trying for July 3rd because of the extended weekend my family can travel and we can celebrate in downtown Chicago without having to worry about entertaining everyone (lol....less stress)
Hey fellow holiday-weekend ladies,
When are you sending out save-the-dates (if you are)? We were thinking early January, but I'm wondering if people will need more notice since it's a holiday. In addition to that, several high school acquaintances and friends with whom we may have somewhat overlapping guest lists are getting engaged or could very possibly get engaged soon. Any advice?

His birthday/our anniversary in dating is June 23; my birthday is July 13 and July 3 is directly between.....oh how the years should be full of lots of celebrating for about four weeks! LOL.....Plus it won't be hard to forget the day before the fourth as your wedding anniversary
I am sending my STDs out around the end of January, I would really like all of my family who will be invited to come, and I understand that it will be a holiday weekend but I can not worry about who else besides Corn and our parents/siblings there to be perfectly honest.
I would suggest sending them out early January as thats soon enough where most people are just thinking of "Gawddd what to do this summer?" because of all the money we spend around the holidays.....our brains and pockets are just cooling down
Happy PREversary ladies!! The FI and I celebrated our "T-minus 1 year" this past weekend and II can't believe we're now less than a year out!!!
As for Save the Dates, I had always planned on sending them in August/September, but today I read two different bridal mags that recommended sending them a year out if the wedding is on a holiday weekend, so now I'm stressing out over it just a bit. I feel like I'm already behind!!
My wedding will be on July 4th, as my venue was already booked for the other dates. Plus, I'll have free fireworks, courtesy of other people ;).
I'm sending out STDs in Oct/Nov.
I'm July 2, 2011. My FI just went yesterday and booked the reception venue and the photographer! I'm so excited now that we've begun to plan the wedding!
I'm July 2, 2011 as well! I was worried about the holiday weekend as July 1st is Canada Day, but we really wanted this date, so just went for it! I received my STDs in the mail this week and was planning on sending them out this week. Is this too early!? We have the venue/ceremony locations booked as well as the photographer. I think I just want to send the STDs out because I'm excited!
We're on the 2nd.
July 1, - FI birthday
July 2, - Wedding
July 3, - IL Party
July 4, - Independance day.
Yay.
Oh! We sent our STD's (hehehe) out about a month ago.
I'm July 3, 2011 as well!!!! Tomorrow will be exactly 10 months til the big day wooo!!!
Eep! 10 months to go! When I realized this I kicked myself into gear. This week I sent in our agreements with the chapel, the reception site, and the photographer! And next weekend is dress shopping. Finally starting to feel like less of a planning-slacker.
Our's is July 2nd! We'll be sending out STDs as soon as we get the picture we want taken. Ah so much to do!!

7-3-11 bride here! just finished sending out our save the dates! so excited to have it on a sunday because both my fiance and i are bartenders and always have to work weekends. this way our co-workers can join our celebration without worry of having to work!
Mine is June 30, 2011. I am LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or Mormon) and we will be getting married in our temple which is a 4 hour drive from our house. So that's why we chose Thursday and then our reception was cheaper on a Friday night so it's July 1. Our main reason for choosing this date was not because of the guest (even though the extra day is a bonus) was the fact that my FH just got a job and having 4th of July off saves some vacation time
Ha ha. I am a July 3rd bride and I haven't sent a STD yet. I don't even know if I will send one. I am on the fence about that. I should get into gear. I don't have a dress or shoes or anything yet. I will be getting a veil from my friend and between three friends, my accesories are covered. I have some vendors on the pipeline (the venue is booked) but I haven't booked them yet. Most of them (all actually) are free that day so I'm in no hurry. Hmmm.., doesn't help that I'm an out of town bride too!
7/2/11 Choose the date on tuesday have been looking for venues/venders all week. Signing contracts on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Its gonna be so crazy! I'm not doing STD cards its to much craziness i haven't even been engaged a week and we are power planning to get this done. So much to get done!
July 2nd here too! We picked it because we are traveling and many of my family are too. It's in SOs home town.
I'm a July 2nd bride...my birthday is the 3rd! We are having a sparkler send off since its 4th of July weekend.. can't think of a better gift to give myself than a wedding! haha
WOW lot's of people getting married 4th of July weekend. NICE. Well I got married by court in 2007 but we are finally having the service by church on July 2. I'm excited not only because right after setting the date and organizing everything we needed but then we got a big surprise that we are expecting our first child. So even if I'm not excited about seeing myself in a wedding dress with a belly I have no other option then to go along with it hahaha. I pray that I don't show but then again who in the world can hold back my belly. I will be ending my 4 month by that time.
