After checking the forcast not so awesome
I know Texas is in a really bad drought and all but can't it rain on another day? (or the day before and cool everything off? Summer storms just mean more humidity)
No!!!! Oh, I hope that changes!!!
I live in Washington State - and I having been praying for a dry day. So far, so good..... but ya never know..
Hang in there! Are you getting married outside?
@LadyCheri: We are doing Vegas- just hoping the A/C works in the hotel suite;)
@LadyCheri: Thankfully no, but the venue has a really pretty courtyard I was hoping to use for family pictures. Getting into the chapel will also be interesting with the rain
And even with AC the indoors will probably still be muggy. Oh well, they just put a new unit in so maybe that will help
I really can't believe we are so close...how are we here already?! I think I am in good shape, my goal is to have all the major things done by the end of the weekend so next week can be for anything that was forgotten or anything that comes up last minute.
@Jaynee: NOW WE'RE ONLY 5 DAYS AWAY!!!
I'm pretty much done with most things. Just praying the weather will be nice for our outdoor ceremony.
What do you girls have left to do!?
@LadyCheri: I know, it's crazy. I finished all my projects over the weekend and my mom is being a huge help in taking on a few big tasks so I don't have to worry about them.
All I have left to do is figure out how to not have an anxiety attack everyday this week and on the wedding day. I have anxiety as it is, but since last night I've been really feeling it. Ugh!
I have so many projects left! You ladies are stressing me out! Hahaha - I can't wait to be in normal wedded life!
I was all excited because yesterday it said 0% chance of rain but now it's 30 with isolated t-storms with a high of 100 (so heat index of 105). My poor WI, PA, and CO family and friends are going to miserable.
Except for packing I think I'm all done with projects until my family gets down here with the table decor and whoopie pies that need filling. So now I just need to figure out how to pack for the next 2.5 weeks and be ready for band week right afterwards (AND we're hosting the 38 flutes for section unity night because we thought it would be fun 5 months ago)
ha ha. 4 days, ladies! I'm sure all of your projects will come together. Last night I was running through the last minute stuff - and I have more than I thought I did to do! I do need to pack for the honeymoon - badly. We leave at 7 the next morning - so no time to do it then. It needs to be ready to go!!
Weather is looking good for WA - about 72. It's not warm, but not cold or rainy either. I hope you all have great weather, no matter where you are!
I am about to loose my mind! People just keep pissing me off & our caterer (which is family) doubled our price 2 days ago! SWEET HUH!
@emersynsmommy35: oh no!!! Hang in there!! I'm so sorry - that stuff right before is so frustrating! Just remember that its YOUR day - don't let anyone take that away from you. :)
Are you ladies by chance really nervous about being the center of attention? I am scared senseless about it. I'm such an introvert. I'm beginning to have anxiety. I'm clumsy, so I've been thinking what if I fall on my way? What if I trip up the altar steps?
How do you plan to deal with it? I want a glass or two of wine, but I do not want to be DRUNK. I want to enjoy the moment.
Just curious, what are your last minute things? I'm so worried I'm forgetting something important!
@JulesSchnooks: Oh my gosh - yes! I am not a huge center of attention girl. The part I'm most nervous about is the ceremony and being up in front of everyone! I'm super clumsy too. My bridal room is up a flight of stairs that I'll somehow have to manouver to come down in my dress.
@Jaynee: I'm really worried I'm going to forget something too. I must have five or six different charts of what needs to go where, who's doing what, who's saying what, what music will be playing when....... I just have small decor stuff left to do(tying ribbons around lanterns, fluffing fake petals, etc).
I'm not doing any of the set up - so I'm quite nervous that it will be set up correctly. I'm a perfectionist with stuff like this, so I'm trying to coach myself through letting it go and trusting that it will all be ok. I so wish I was more easy going in this area!
Anyone else been spying on their registries like crazy this week!?
@LadyCheri: The set up is part of what makes me nervous too. My venue does it all, but I'm afraid something won't get done right and I'm one of those people who would rather do something myself than tell someone else how to do something. It's been a struggle through all of wedding planning because I couldn't delegate tasks to the dozens of people who were offering...I did most of them myself so I knew they'd be how I wanted them.
@LadyCheri: Yes! Someone bought us our Dyson this week....what?! I'm hoping it's multiple people, becaus that's one of those things that we thought there's no way we'll get it because it's so expensive.
Thanks for the reminder...off to check :)
@JulesSchnooks: Ooo yes am I nervous. FH has been giggling about that. I've never liked being the center of attention and am much better in group activities (marching band, soccer, whole ensembles, flat classes) than individual (solos, over fences, etc). So the idea of EVERYONE looking at my dad and I during the processional and than at FH and me during the first dance is terrifying. I'm fully expecting to trip at some point, I'm just greatful there aren't any trees to walk into.
@LadyCheri: Yes but am kind of dissapointed, not a single dish, china or otherwise has been purchased. We've already gotten >300 dollars worth in gift cards from bridal shower, my roommate and coworkers so that will cover the everyday dishes and then some.
We're now 3 days away.
...annnnnnnnd for some reason I'm not nearly as calm as I was yesterday. ANYONE ELSE FREAKING OUT?!
@LadyCheri: IM FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't normally get nervous but IM FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!! And we have 40% chance of rain, so I'm also FREAKING OUT about whether or not we'll be able to take the beautiful outdoor pictures I wanted :(
WHY, WEATHER, WHY???
@Oribel013690: Think positive thoughts - I'm sending them your way as well! We're having an outdoor ceremony with the reception inside. Right now, the weather looks like it'll be about 72.
BEST OF LUCK!!
Okay ladies, we had the rehearsal last night and it went AWESOME! two complete run throughs (minus the message and some little bits from Rev J) in 45 minutes. At first it was a bit like herding cats but the onsite coordinator was awesome and she loves everything and thinks everything will go perfectly. Everyone was tearing up with our CS Lewis reading (it is kind of pragmatic but still very sweet, like us I guess). I'm going to subscribe to the band view that good rehearsal means good performance and ignore Theatre BM's normal superstitions.
Dinner was amazing too. Everyone got along, my super skinny granpa ate EVERYTHING and we had a 4 course dinner, and we all have food babies.
Today, we're taking my hometown friends down to our college town where we live. One went there for a year before me and convinced me to go there so it's like a homecoming for him, he gets to visit some of his friends that he hasn't seen in 4 years and then we go to my museum!
Good luck everyone for tomorrow!
***HUBBY*** and I just got home after a PERFECT day!!! It went almost totally flawlessly! I can't believe how wonderful it was and that I'm finally married to my best friend! All our hard work paid off :)
Hope all the other July 30th brides had just as wonderful an experience as we did!!!!!
Hope you all had fantastic weddings and are relaxing with your hubbies! We had an amazing day and could not have asked for anything more (except maybe an extra hour or two). Off to Kauai in the AM!
@Jaynee: We're in Maui! (heading to Oahu on Saturday or Sunday) I LOVE this weather!
Our day went fairly well- ignoring the fact I got little sleep the night before from nausea and the band leader starting to charge us 2 hours early. In the end everyone left an hour early which worked perfectly since I was exhausted. What capped off the day? We went to starbucks in our wedding clothes (the barista didn't bat an eye but a customer asked why we were dressed so nicely and then congratulated us) and then ordered room service at 11 at night.
I also found out I got in the 94th percentile for the GRE writing score so it makes this week so much better (and makes up for the fact that almost no one bought off our registry so I'm scared to open gifts when we go home, I see lots of returns in our future)
OMG it was so wonderful! I was so worried about my damn wedding and it turned out perfectly...well, there were a few hiccups like the servers not cutting the cake right, resulting in there not being enough to go around. That totally sucked because FI's bro made the cake and it was AMAZING and the people who didn't get it seriously missed out. I'm not allowed to post any pics of me & hubby on random internet message boards so this is all I've got, haha. My BM had someone take it with her camera while we were waiting for the guys to have their pictures taken.
It POURED on our outdoor ceremony!
It had rained from when I woke up until our ceremony ended at 3:30 (unusual for my neck of the woods in Northern Canada, normally it rains for 5 minutes at a time)
So we popped open our umbrellas and said our vows in the rain.
I know brides are terrified of rain (myself included) but it held its own sort of special romance (I'm a glass half full kinda lady, can you tell?)
We got some beautiful portraits after the ceremony. I hear rainy weather is great for diffusing light. I cant wait till our professional shots come back!
Married! Ultimately after a lot of tears and nerves, I had the most perfect day. We did not have JUST dancing at our reception; we did table trivia throughout dinner, followed by family feud (bridesmaids against groomsmen), and the newly wed game. During cocktail hour, we had a champagne bar, and a station where adventurous guests could play minute to win it games for prizes. Or--- you could treat it like a typical cocktail hour. It was traditional, but different. We also had a painter painting the garden scene for people to stop and enjoy.
We had so many people tell us it was the most fun wedding they've ever been to, and that's such a huge compliment, because DH's family in particular were nervous that the games would not go off well. Even at the end of it, his mother in particular could not get over how great it turned out! I loved it. He loved it. I wish I could do it all over again, but it was definitely a day I will never forget as long as I live. :)
Us cutting the cake:
90 days in Girls-- how are we doing?
Wedding album- who knew this would be a six month project. I want to make one for each set of parents, and for us of course.
Thank you cards- luckily were done the first week we got back.
Dresses for sale- still have to deal with that- probably going to donate to militarybrides.com.
And finally MM ring came in- he had a standby for the ceremony and the long term one came on the 29th so I gave it to him during our 90 day review- heheh
How about you all?
