I feel like this week is a big one for checking off things from my list...

Tomorrow I am putting the deposit on the flowers.

We have our Pre-Cana (marriage prep course) Friday evening and Saturday.

I think I have made decisions about accessories.

FI is going to get my wedding band paid for and pick it up.

We are looking into getting on each other's insurance plans.

FI's house may be sold, we find out on Friday if the conditions were met.

    RSVPs are trickling in!

We are pretty close to booking our hotel for the honeymoon.

I am feeling more stress right now than I have had so far.  FI wants to help, but really doesn't know where to begin.   How does your FI do with wedding planning help?

Honestly, too long for me to want to look at or think about... and I am worried! Your wedding is the day before mine and I haven't gotten a single RSVP back. Just undeliverable invites for one reason or another...

--Trying to get BMs and GMs to buy their dresses/suits... ugh

--Dress comes in VERY soon, so need to book fitting soon

--Made hair appointment day before wedding this morning

--Move in to our new apartment this weekend!!! Woo!

@kperry3 - girl, i hear you about trying to get everyone to buy their outfits.  why is this turning out to be harder than i thought it would be!?

    -  book my hair/makeup artist by fri.

    -  wait to hear from other florists since my preferred florist asked if we can wait till after mothers day to continue consulting

    -  freak out that i still dont have a florist with just under two months to go!

    -  get my EMERGENCY baptism on friday at my home parish which is four hours away!  long story short, the church that my parents baptized me at in my birth country isnt recognized by the catholic church and yes, i am just finding this out after ALL this time (almost 26 yrs) living as a "catholic" which was never "legit" because my baptism wasn't.  we're having a destination wedding at the new diocese said unless i was baptized for real, our wedding would be a "mixed-religion" ceremony not legally recognized by the church. so my home priest thought it was ridiculous and is squeezing me in ASAP for an emergency baptism!!!

    -  ring shop

    -  mail out dresses i bought for my flower girl

My biggest to do this week is to finish and mail all of our invites! They should be all ready by tomorrow to mail out!!!! YAY!!!!!! Other than that, I need to get everything ready for our polaroid photobooth: buy chalkboard, guestbook photo album, fabric for backdrop and all the film!

    Hmmm...this week my to-do's are:

    - Send out invites (once we receive them)

    - Purchase my shoes, jewelry, and sash

    - Purchase men's ties and girl's jewelry

    - Find someone to play acoustic guitar during our ceremony (this has been the most difficult thing so far!!)

    - Confirm honeymoon (in FI's grandmother's hands)

    - Start DIYing ceremony and reception decor...yikes!

    - Get marriage license

    - Attend our first pre-marriage counseling course

So much to-do!! I've been pretty laid-back so far, but I am starting to feel like a crazy person with everything that needs to be done pronto.

@mmauricio: Yea, it's becoming quite annoying. I gave an extra two months for two BMs who had babies in December. But it's time to go ahead and buy the dresses... they still have not. As for GMs, I'm sure they'll wait until the very last day (May 31st) to buy their suits. Only one has even responded so far.

I've been pretty productive the last few weeks, so not much on the list for this week thankfully! I have to finalize the alcohol order with our wholesaler and finish up my programs and table numbers. Nothing too bad. Getting the marriage license next week though, that ought to definitely put some pressure on me!

We have a detailed appointment at the venue this week, to try and iron out some details. Invites are out!!! So I wanted to develop a database for those who respond and start a rough seating chart.

This week we also hope to:

Get shoes for the flower girl

Pick out some songs for the reception

Think about some songs for the church

Tags for the favors---we did donations, and are giving little mints or something like that

Get in shape for my fitting at the end of the month *probably my biggest stressor

    Find hair accessories

Good Luck Everyone, I can't not believe how quick July is coming up. Don't get me wrong I am excited to get married, but the pressure is on!! AAAAHHHHH :)

@Knubbsy-Wubbsy: I feel you about the excel. I did my guest list in it and it has been nothing less than a dream. I did a mail merge to print my envelopes, created databases to track costs and have sheets for my RSVP's that calculate cost per head as I enter Yes's.

Reading that back, I realize I'm letting out my inner nerd. Sry.

@Ms.Shamrock: That's actually pretty smart to set it up to calculate per head. I didn't really start using the program until this summer when I had to justify an inventory of a large historic house and since then I've been using it for everything.

spinningstars    July 9, 2011   Roanoke, Virginia Current to-do list a.k.a. "things I can do without RSVPs":- Begin alterations and take shoes to be dyed.- Decide on a group hotel from http://www.hotelplanner.com and add the info. to our website (which Mr. Spin has been working on this week- almost ready to unveil!)- Find a cake baker (recently decided I want a traditional tiered cake- inspired by milk glass)- Finalize ceremony readings before counseling next week and invite our readers (two friends that I have been a bridesmaid for)- Invite our ushers (two of my cousins) and guestbook/program attendant (one of the mister's cousins who I became really close to while she was a student at the school where I teach... she came to visit me in homeroom every morning!)- Book bridal portrait session.- Make restaurant reservation for rehearsal dinner.- Pick out Mr. Spin's wedding band.- Help our moms find dresses.- Order aisle runner, guestbook, and sparklers.- Find gifts for flower girl and other wedding helpers.- Find two more picture frames to turn into chalkboards- one for "Thank You" and one for "Love"- Work out a plan for mantel decor for the ceremony- one of my friends had her wedding at my venue this past weekend, and I didn't like the way the flameless candles looked in the fireplace, so I will be picking up some real pillar candles to replace them. I think it might be pretty to do a combination of milk glass pieces and candles on the mantel.- Order straws or stirrers and washi tape to make drink flags.

@carriejuly: I think what we're going to end up doing is creating a photobook of our e-photos that will serve as our guestbook. We actually just met with our photographer about this yesterday because I wanted to pick her brain about which online photobook company has the best quality for what you pay for. We deduced that Blurb is probably one of the best choices out there but I think I'm going to use her professional photobook making company and have her design it because I just don't have the time now. Plus, I know she'll do an amazing job! It is going to cost an extra $30 or $40 for her to do it but it is worth it to me.

She also had a really cool idea from another bride who she said was a scrapbooker. So this bride had the fauxtobooth option at her wedding (which I'm having, too). When her guests took a photo in the fauxtobooth, her assistant photog had the guest write some words of wisdom on a 3 x 5 card or piece of paper in a circle or triangle shape. The bride created a scrapbook of all the guests cards and matched them with their photo from the fauxtobooth. What a cool idea though eh? I passed on it because I wasn't sure I had the time to put that together after the wedding. I know it will take some work. But I absolutely love that idea!

I am way, way at the end of July...

    - Invites are almost ready.

    - Need to purchase liquor.

    - Need to get groom's outfit altered but that is no biggie.

    - Purchase my wedding ring.

    - Purchase some decor for the house.

The big ticket item for me is the liquor and wedding band.
