ohh... where do I start?
After months of research/ contacting vendors.... i found a printing company for the wedding invites... Turns out that I hate them... Many of my original ideas like the vellum envelopes, outer envelopes, ribbon went out the door with the cost going up... blah, blah... My guest list is way over ( might have to figure out how to come up with the extra $4000 for these folks). My florist/ family member bailed out on me... Can't get in touch with her to discuss the flower arrangements after she volunteered to do them. So far, the only thing I have going on is my weight loss... I'm only 10 pounds away from my goal.
I'm also dying to see my dress, but I just talked to the dress maker today and it's supposed to be here the first week of June.
I just finished my guest book and collecting centerpiece items. It feels like christmas every day because something usually comes in the mall. I'm just now looking into getting thank you cards for the bridal shower and wedding so that as soon as we start getting things i can write the cards.
next week we are having our 2nd round of engagement photos (it rained for most of our first ones).
It seems like things are slowing down lately, almost like the calm before the storm. I'm just starting to get really excited to see everything come together! AND I thank god for etsy every day!
Oh! I need to find shoes (I swear i've looked everywhere) and get to the gym more!
Recently:
-My dress was shipped to my house and I got my first fitting today!
-We bought our wedding bands and I picked them up today!
-We finally will pay off our honeymoon tomorrow.
Soon:
-My mom will send out invitations
-2 bridal showers will be planned!
-I'll buy the BM gifts tomorrow!
-I'll buy wedding programs soon!
Stressful:
-2 BMs have not bought their dresses yet...
-None of the GM have bought their suits
-I'm not really sure what to get for wedding favors.
So far I have gotten a lot done but I do think I am missing things, I have the table numbers, favors, tossing bouquet, bridesmaid gifts, shoes, earrings, flip flops and a bathroom basket all set.
I still need for the bridesmaid dresses to come in, a place for the reharsel dinner, songs for the dj, ceremony stuff (Wens!), a unity candle (way to much money!!).
I had my bridal shower over the weekend, so I am working on Thank yous, but one thing that did make nervous was the overwhelmed feeling. I get so stressed I am not dedicating enough time to each person. I am concerned the wedding will be so stressful and I won't be able to enjoy myself just because of that. Is anyone else stressed about this?
Oh man. yeah. The wedding party suits / dresses. We haven't even done that yet. I have a wedding planner because I'm a student, and shes' doing a not so good job right now of prompting us to start looking at things.
I have chosen a dress that my bridal party can get online, however Mr. Groom is not so proactive about thinking about this on his own. I'm going to have to nudge him on that too.
If anyone is doing a candy buffet...I just ordered all my pretty purple, pink and white candy from nutsonline.com yesterday and it will be here tomorrow!!! I did quite a bit of research and this site has the best prices and least expensive delivery rates!
We are finishing up with the invites this week. Hope to have them in the mail this weekend.
I keep feeling as though I'm forgetting some things as I don't really have a whole lot to do right now.
Invites were just sent out last week (courtesy of my amazing sister! I would never have finished them if they were left up to me), we also finalized our registry (an annoying task as neither FI nor I wanted a registry).
Other things we've just finished - ordering the tuxes for the bridal party, music list for string quartet, dinner menu for reception, and OOT bags (not the assembly of them, just the purchasing of the items),
I'm currently working on table numbers.... not quite as time consuming as I thought.
Still working on photo guest book - a LOT more time consuming than originally planned!
Music list for the DJ is still a work in progress - bit of a pain, that one!
Flowers are still up in the air too - thought I had them sorted but then realized hydrangea at an outdoor July wedding may not be the world's greatest idea. Luckily, I have a wonderful florist who is more than patient with me!
Hmmm.... now that response cards are starting to come back in, I guess the next big task will be place cards and seating arrangements.
Bachelorette party is this weekend!
We're in the process of getting our response cards in so I can give final numbers to wedding planner/caterer and florist. Our wedding planner is really handling everything.
I'm working on our hotel block now and waiting to get info back from a couple of hotels in the area. I also have a shower coming up the second weekend in June. Eek. While I'm at home for the shower I'm getting my dress bustled and final alterations made to my reception dress.
I still need shoes. I can't seem to find anything that I like. Suggestions?
Things I am proud of:I sent out invites today! Yippee! Starting to see my vision come together as we purchase bits and pieces at a time.
Things that have been more difficult:
-Dealing with my future extended family. We are having a small ceremony and reception (immediate family, g-parents, and our closest friends). I knew that this decision may lead to some interesting holidays, but they have been so unsupportive of our decision. We were going to have a destination wedding (with only the people above invited), but FI's dad became ill earlier this year and we had to change our plans. For me it will be like our destination wedding in town! :) Noone else seems to get that but my fam and my dear FI. :/ Oh well, our wedding will be exactly like I have always envisioned and I couldn't be happier about it!
- Trying to find a ceremony guitarist. I thought that this would be a piece of cake, but it has not been as easy as I planned.
This week: I need to figure out what our centerpieces will be. The ones that I want are not very fancy, but they go great with my wedding theme. However, they do not go great with our fancier venue and food. Trying to find something fun, spunky, and classy.
We're still in the process of getting rsvps in. My shower and 2nd dress fitting are this weekend. Those are really my main focus this week. I'm making sure I get to the gym, get a spray tan and a manicure..basically just make sure I'll be looking good. It's nice to have reached a point in my planning that I can be pampered a bit!
There's a LOT done, but also a LOT to do!
For the moment I'm working on:
-Finding one last usher gift (it's my brother that I'm really close to, so very difficult!)
-Updating the checklist of other things to do. (haha =) )
-Print I*Spy cards
-Find/pick a sweater/jacket to go over my bridal shower dress
-Hit the gym and work on losing ~5 pounds/mostly just toning
-Get escort cards typed in the computer and ready to print
-Call and check prices on hems (for bridesmaid dresses)
-Call florist wholesaler and book a workspace/figure out how to specify flowers I want
Eh...I think that's enough for now. haha =)
I'm focusing on a few things this week:
- had shower yesterday so I need to work on thank-yous
- work on table numbers
- sent out invites TODAY! yipee! looking forward to see the rsvp cards come in.
- work on escort card ideas
- nudge FI about groomsman and usher gifts
- Saturday we're going to do a menu tasting at the day after brunch restaurant
I feel at ease since the invitations are finally out. But like Doodle said, it almost like the calm before the storm! Love that analogy. I am sooo there right now!
Stressing About:
What was easy:
Working on now:
Finishing up the goccoing of my cocktail napkins in wedding colors. Should be done by this Friday.
Just finished drilling all the pens and paddles for my fan program.
First dress fitting this Sunday.
Rings to be picked up next week.
Need to assemble programs this weekend.
Need to finish making up the props for my photobooth.
Need to finish paintiing 'Thank You' on my parasols.
I'm just hyperventilating thinking about this. Ugh!
I had my appt at Cindy's on Thursday last week! Simple and fun! Bustle, cups in and small hem at the front!
Sister's dress looks ok, Cindy's did great work, but my sister is just busting out of it. Mom brought her dress for Cindy to look at, Mom decided she doesn't like her dress anymore and is going to get another, so Cindy was the last effort to try to make her like it again...no deal! Atleast it's not me with dress issues, ha!
I go back June 8th!
I had my first shower Friday night, also in the hate being the centre of attention group (yet I speak infront of people for a living, I guess it's more "they're coming for me") and it wasn't that bad......two more on 28th and 29th, eeep.
Well ..... where do i start .... for months i have had the bridesmaids dresses picked out well i set a date so all the bridesmaids could all go together to get fitted in one day . Well to say that worked out ! Yay well the dress shop told all the girls they had a deadline and everyone got in the deadline but my moh and 1 bridesmaid so that was stressful for about of month after hounding them they finally just backed out of the wedding . so anyways got another moh and bridesmaid which is my best friend and friend now the 1st ones was my sister and niece so can't count on family ! Anyways finally got all dresses paid for and ordered yay !!!!! Got our Engagment pics. Done , and got our centerpieces done ! now We gotta work on
@RingPup: Oh man Cindy sounds great...i'm terrified and looking forward to it at the same time! Dare I ask how much alterations cost? Did it take a long time? My mom needs some alterations to her dress as well, never thought of taking it there as well.. might give it a go!
No idea. I haven't heard that she's unreasonable. I am assuming June 8th I will know the bill? I suppose I could have asked for a ballpark, but didn't even think to to be honest!
Stressed:
Guest list (RSVP's, FI still hasn't found addresses for 3 couples, etc...)
Not sure how to decorate at all. Everyone offers to help, but no one has stepped up to the plate.
The music! FI is Catholic and the church music is hard for me. Also, I know nothing about the ceremony and he can't find the little book we had to help us.
Proud:
My dress is being altered now, we have our rings, the invites looked great and we sold FI's house, which means that we only have 1 mortgage now.
To do:
Engagement pictures this weekend, but we are spending the night in the city for our anniversary.
We have to meet with the music director and the lady who will allow us to get pictures done at her house.
I hope to pick up more decor for the reception this weekend.
@JulesSchnooks:Did you get a chuppah? We're making one, and if you're near SF, you can buy it off us when we're done. We're getting umbrella stands for the poles, then bamboo poles, then caps to sew to a big piece of cloth, draped down. It should be very simple, but elegant (! hope).
If you want to DIY-- those particular umbrella stands are $12 each this week at k mart and sears (and online).

Sorry, there are no users yet.
Only because it irks me to see old posts pop up again about "what do you have left to do?" So, I'm starting a new fresh one that isn't being recycled, but continuing to trick me into thinking it's a new thread.
So, July Brides: What's going on for you? What have you accomplished recently that you're really proud of? What are you doing that's a little more difficult than you anticipated? How are you putting things together this week?
For me, the write up for my flowers came in, and I'm not sure I really enjoy 100% of it. I'm also looking for a Chuppah to use, and I've contacted an Etsy artist, but she hasn't responded yet and it's killing me because I'm so excited to have it done. Mostly because I intend to hang it up in my foyer after the wedding. :)
Oh, and I'm still waiting for my wedding dress to come in. That is a source of stress, but I was assured it would be here by early June. Cutting it close? Yes. Luckily for me however, the bridal salon I purchased it from only opened a couple of months ago, so they don't have an unmanageable amount of bridal traffic yet.
So that's my story. What's yours?
