Ooo, what a fun date!
What about serving lemonade, using sparklers for your exit, watermelon, lollipops for favors... really cute!
You could also set up lawn games for people to play, which would be really fun.
I attached a couple of pictures that I thought were nice, before I realized you don't want to use red or blue. Oops!
Good luck! :)
Do you have a color scheme? I think something that's bright and fun would be awesome. I'm obsessed with yellow and white right now. I think some crisp white linens, with a lemon centerpiece would look really great: Think a white bowl full of lemons, maybe some random sprigs of white flowers in there. Maybe throw some smaller vases full of orange roses. I think the look would be very summery
I also like the idea of the lemonade and fireworks. Since it's summer time, and your wedding is outdoors you could do cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. Easy for people to eat, and there's no cutting. I also like the idea of wedding pies... very fourth of july (we always ate pie). For favors you do small packages of sparklers wrapped in a pretty ribbon with a tag attached with your names and the date.
As for food, I'm not sure what your BBQ company provides but I would practice some recipes for all the basics:
Potato Salad
Regular Salad
Cole Slaw
Maybe some fancy jellos?
Cheesy Potatos?
Set up a boiling pot of water on the grill and do corn
Cornbread
Bakes Beans
Pasta Salad
You gals have some wonderful ideas and they are meshing extremely well with what I'm thinking too!!!
I LOVE IT!!!
I love the yellow!!!
I'm going to go the whole nine yards on the BBQ deal. CORN ON THE COB---YES!! All the food listed by Maureen9004---now that's what I'm talking about! There is usually a pretty nice fireworks display @ 9 here in my city that you can see from many spots...
Love the sparkler favors too! And cupcakes too although I would like about a 2 tier cake as well.
Thanks all--this is great!
I'm a July 4th 2009 bride too!!
We are definitely NOT doing red white and blue though - we're using tiffany blue, chocolate brown, and champagne as our colors.
We're doing our reception in a hotel ballroom downtown so that our guests can see the downtown fireworks. We're also going to be doing a summer candy buffet and serving lemonade. Using sparklers for our getaway instead of birdseed or bubbles too.
Will guests be able to see fireworks from your location?

Hi all! I'm planning a July 4th wedding for this year...very sentimental date as this was the day of our first date. I want to steer away from the typical 4th of july colors and use my chosen colors. I need some ideas for everything. I plan on having a BBQ buffet however, b/c it's EASY and CHEAP and we have an awesome place here that's does great BBQ catering. I will only be getting BBQ from them however. What other foods should I serve?
Decor ideas? Favors? I'm open to suggestions...shoot'em my way!!
