I don't have a date set, but you are getting married on my birthday! :) We are actually trying to avoid June since both of our birthdays are in June...better to spread out the celebrations (and gifts!). Congratulations and wow, it appears you've done quite a bit for the planning!
It's hard to believe that this time next year we'll be getting married. My mom was just invited to a small wedding on June 26th, 2009, so at least she'll have some experience with that date before my wedding June 26th, 2010!
As for the ideas you're looking for, Sulli301, I think we're going with a photo guestbook. My FI & I have not taken our Engagement Photos yet (we will sometime this summer), but I love the idea of a guestbook with some of our special engagement photos incorporated. We are thinking we'll do personalized M&Ms in cute little boxes I bought at Michael's for the favors. Our ceremony and reception will be outside in Boise (high desert climate), so we definitely need a food item that won't melt as a favor!
I'm doing a lot of DIY projects for our wedding and our flowers are one of the big projects. I bought clear glass cylinder vases at Michael's (gotta love their 40% off coupons!) for the centerpieces. Our flowers are calla lilies, so I'm going to order 50-75 large, long-stemmed callas from Costco.com. The centerpieces will have 1-3 callas with some clear flat marbles in the bottom of the vases.
Have you chosen your color scheme or your flowers?
Wow,
Your homemade center pieces sound gorgeous!
I found some 4 sided glass square frames that my fiance and I want to use as centerpieces and put black and white pictures in them. They are also vases so we will talk to the florist about what will go inside of them.
As far as colors, I have lilac for sure as the main color (my MOH's dress, the vests for all the men in the wedding, etc) but I do not know about what other color(s) to accent with?
Also, I do not know what flowers I want.
Ideas?
Thanks :)
Thanks Sulli!
Your centerpiece idea sounds fun! Would you include photos of you and your FI?
The nice thing about weddings in the summer is that so many beautiful flowers are in season = less expensive! There are so many fun choices. What are your favorite flowers? Do you want flowers in the lilac main color or would you just want flowers that would coordinate? Roses would offer the most color variety, or you could go with peonies, lilies, lavender, orchids, .... So many options.
What are your reception & ceremony locations like? That could help you narrow down color and flower choices.
For the guy favors, I think personalized/engraved flasks are fun. ![]()
Hello my date twins!
@Sulli: wow, sounds like you're way ahead of the game. We still have the following major tasks on our to do list: find a four string orchestra, cake (going for cupcake cakes!), flowers, wedding rings, and the limo(s).
When did you all book your reception halls? We got engaged on Valentine's and can't believe how so many of the halls were already booked. The first thing we did was secure the church and after that the rest was easy enough!
Is there are reason why you all picked June 26th? Our first date was June 26, 2001 and it was a bonus the date landed on a Saturday!
Happy planning.
Hello June 26ers!
I have found my dress(kind of a fluke, but I am in love with it), told my bridesmaids and begun looking at their dresses, and booked our reception site. We are doing a lot of DIY for centerpieces and flowers, so we know what we are doing, but nothing has come to fruition yet. We have an idea for the ceremony site that I love, but it is a public park and they don't take reservations until the first business day of 2010! I can't decide whether I should wait it out, or just go elsewhere. It is such a beatiful location, and would literally be the PERFECT place for what we want, but it's a little risky. What do you all think?
Good luck!
HELLO JUNE 26ERS!!!!
As I'm sure you are all aware it is exactly 1 YEAR from now that we will all walk down the aisle to our Prince Charming's :) I'm so excited as I know this time will fly by and I can't wait to enjoy every moment from here on in. My family is all excited and are also in on the countdown, especially the in-laws which is great because they are my family.
I hope all you June 26ers are celebrating today as well. My FI and I are heading to the church tomorrow night around 6pm (the time we will be married at) to see what the lighting will be like and what flowers will be out for that time of year. I can't wait for this day to come and I hope I enjoy every second of the special day.
Cheers to June 26th!!!
Wow...looking at y'all comments I need to play catch up...I initially wanted to get married the Sat. after Thanksgiving of this year, but I'm in school and I graduate in May so it was best to push it back and I'll be starting classes again in August so June it is!!!!
What I've done...
Bridesmaid Dress
Torn between two dresses
Ceremony/Reception Location
Bridal Party
and I think that's it
Hello twinsies!
What have I done... hmmm...
1. Ceremony/Reception Venue: Bernardo Winery in San Diego (Where Miss French Bulldog is getting married)
2. Dress: Mikaella 1367 - love it!
3. Photographers: Ellsworth Photography - love them too! E-pics are next Thursday!
4. BM Dresses: J. Crew Erica Cotton Cady dresses in Peppermint
5. Ideas, ideas, ideas! We're going on one tasting today, another on the 15th of August. I know what the centerpieces, bouquets, and bouts will look like, I know the boys suits, Have everything for the candy bar, know what invitations we will use, etc.
Now... if it would only be May 30th of 2010 right now instead of July 30th of 2009...
Hey there date twins!
Reading all of your comments has gotten me even more excited & motivated me to get my butt in gear...
Still working on/need ideas for Save the Dates, Web Site, Dress, BM Dress, Menswear, Centerpieces...oh, a LOT of stuff. But I can't wait to get to it & share it with all of you!
Niki
Hi Date Twins!
Wow, some of you guys have lots of stuff done! I'm amazed! I have the basics covered- ceremony, venue, dress, bridesmaid dress and shoes, caterer, photographer. I'm working on save the dates and invites now.
I've put some thought into escort cards/favors. My current idea is to get the seed paper, have it cut into the shape of a flower, place it on a holder in a terra cotta pot.
Hi 6-26'rs!
I love reading what everyone is doing! I have some of the basics done: reception venue, dress is being made, got the shoes, getting fiancee to order his groom's kilt outfit, talking to a photographer. I'm trying to decide if I need save the dates for everyone or just the out of towners so they have time to make travel plans? I have the invites designed, probably order in Sept or Oct.
I was researching the escort/place card situation, sheesh is what I have to say about that! I didn't want to do them, but we will have at least 100 and my best gf says she wants assigned seating! She goes to A LOT of weddings, so I will take her advice. There are so many choices and we aren't having a set theme, so it's a challenge for me to make sure is all going to look good together and not just pick whatever I think is cute or pretty!
Hello date twins,
Well, it's official...we have exactly 10 months to go until the big day. Our planning has hit a bit of a lull. I feel like we're in that awkward stage where we've got all the major stuff booked but it's too soon to book other vendors. Apparently bakers and florist are among the group of vendors who prefer to you wait until 6 months out from the wedding.
We're waiting for the bridal show in September to get inspired to re-start the planning.
What's new with you?
Wow I feel like time is flying by. June 26, 2010 will be here in no time!
So far...
Booked in March: Ceremony/Reception Venue, Photographer
Booked in June: DJ, Florist (already decided on all florals including centerpieces, DOC, asked bridal party, bought FI's ring (already have mine)
Decided on (but not bought, still looking for deals lol): birdcage card holder, cake topper, escort cards, photo guest book, candy buffet
Working on in August/September: Making appointments for linen/chair rentals and cake tasting, gathering addresses, started designing STD's (will send out in Sept sometime), finishing wedding website, finalizing invitation design (almost done), starting to look into videographers, start dress shopping (end of September)
Yay so many getting married on June 26...such a good day! :)
I have done a few things as well but still need to do a lot more...got the dress, the venue/reception, know what save the dates/invitations i want, done our e-pics, got the photographer, booked my bridal portraits, looking for table linens but still looking for good deals on those right now, and trying to decide on what I want my centerpieces to look like. The next biggest thing I want done very soon is the caterer and dj! But I am excited about going with my girls to look for their bridesmaid dresses next week!
Good luck with your planning ladies!!!
Rachel
Wow, I feel so behind the ball. I've been engaged since last December, but am just now getting going on the wedding planning. I have selected the wedding party, picked out a dress, settled on the venue, picked a caterer, photographer, and dj....that's about it. Next I'm picking colors...what are you ladies doing?
Yay June 26!
@Sulli301 I am a June 25th bride also in Michigan. Where in Michigan are you getting married?!
I can't believe I missed this thread earlier!
We have booked the ceremony and reception venues, caterers, florist, photographers, ceremony choir, band for the reception, and a block of rooms for out-of-town guests. We have taken our engagement pictures, ordered my dress and jewelry and shoes, chosen colors, sent out our save-the-dates, selected the bridal party, chosen the tuxes and the bridesmaid dresses, bought our DIY invitations, and found a house to rent for all my out-of-town bridesmaids to stay in with me the week of the wedding. We have also chosen our cake baker, but they won't take orders less than six months out so we are waiting until January to order the cake.
Hello Date Twins...
OMG! I recently joined the WB and I'm amazed of how many things some of you have completed... I feel so behind... The only things I have completed so far are:
>Booked my venue, took Save the date pics, finalized my wedding party, picked my colors (I think, lol)...
Wow! I have sooooo much to do.. I'm a lil freaked out, because I'm not so good at planning events. I was relying on my MOH to help me, but we just found out she is pregnant
and she is due like 2 weeks after my wedding. I don't know, maybe I'm just overeacting, lol... I'm so happy to share my date with all of you, I look forward to continue to share our stories and dilemas as our BIG day approaches...
Xoxo,
Ana <3
I'm a June 26 too!
My biggest things right now are bridesmaids dresses and reception music. It's been SO hard to find BM dresses we all love within a reasonable budget.
I did just order our toasting flutes today though, so excited!
Hi June 26, 2010 twins!
We are getting married June 26 in Charleston SC!! Gosh and I can't wait!! We have gotten a lot done, but as always I'm trying to find more things to do. Now I'm getting in to a lot of DIY projects- Wooden Large letters to paint, put spanish moss on and attach a large ribbon to hang on the plantations entrance fence, Wedding Peg dolls and more. I wish you all the best of luck with planning!! It's so much fun! We are also deciding on our BM dresses now- after a lot of research I think we are going to get them through Netbride.com. Instead of paying $225 for a Silk Taunting Dessy dress we can get it for $166 plus shipping and yes they do get the dress from the manufactuer it's not a fluke or fake.
Look forward to reading more posts from 6-26 brides!
Victoria
How have a I missed this board?!
Hello date twins! I am getting married June 26, 2010 in Kansas City, MO. I got engaged last December (our enga-versary was on Monday!!!) and we've done quite a bit and now am working on:
Ordering Invitations, Setting up transportation for wedding party, discussing details of ceremony, music, etc., getting bridesmaids in for measurements!!
We're under the 6 month mark date twins!
The 6th month mark on Dec. 26th made me feel butterflies of nervousness for the first time. This is really happening, and sooner than we think! I'm behind...aaaahhh! Still have to book the caterer this Jan.
Add me to the list! I am a June 26 too! It can't come soon enough! We are getting married in Chattanooga, TN!
I am June 26 in Pittsburgh, PA! I can't beleive how close it's getting. We still don't have all of our groomsmen...should I be getting worried?
Hello twins! =)
I'll be getting married in Walnut Creek, CA.!
Hi date twins! We just set the date last night. We are getting married near Los Angeles, CA. Only five months and a few days, HOLY COW! I am so far behind all of you, but I thought I would post my progress thus far:
Purchased dress
chose reception and ceremony locations (no need to book as they are at my Aunt's and FIL's homes)
Budget
chosen our wedding party- about to ask them
chosen the theme
Have rough ideas for flowers, centerpieces, decor
talked to a few photographers
That's it! Oh no I need to get into gear!
Just over a month to go!! How are all of you doing with planning? Is everything done? What are the thigns that you still need to do? Hope all is well!
One month from today ladies....
Is everyone wrapping up loose ends and planning?
We are going to pick up our wedding bands this Friday! Can't wait to see if on my finger :)
I can't believe it! We have been planing for about 16 months and are SOOOO ready for it to be over. (Although we are looking forward to it too!)
We just have to finalize the food (we are doing the BBQ'ing ourselves) and tie all the details together.
Happy one month everyone!
@JENNYDHTH - I'M SOOOOO WITH YOU! as excited as I am for it to be here - I'm BEYOND ready for it to be over! :p
25 days left, ladies!!!!!!!! (and counting!)
@dancergmu3- Where in MD are you having your wedding? I am from Annapolis. Instead of having our wedding there we decided on a mini destination in Charelston SC the "southern Annapolis."
Counting down the days!!
I love that this thread has survived an entire year - before I even joined weddingbee!
Now that we're just a couple of weeks out, I'm totally excited/stressed out. I tried on my dress and realized it didn't fit, so I have to do some last-minute alterations (I guess my last month of stress caused me to loose weight, something I couldn't manage to do despite my best efforts in the last year! Go figure...)
@victoriar, we are having the wedding in Ocean City. I wanted beach. Oooo Charleston is GOREGOUS! Good luck!!
