@JennyS - They're going great! Of course, I've had over a year to plan so far! We pretty much have everything taken care of that can be at this point. Venue, dress, attendants, invitations, caterer, baker, rehearsal dinner, Officiant, hotel room block, etc. Even though the wedding isn't for two and a half more months, I set the RSVP date for May 1st. We're planning a destination wedding, so the sooner I know how many people will attend, the better!
I would love it if things like the flower arrangements and venue decoration could be taken care of now, too, but I'm stuck waiting till the last minute on those details!
Oh how exciting! I think you almost need a full year to plan everything! There always seems like there is so much to do! Glad your plans are coming along great! I love destination weddings, are you going someplace tropical?
@JennyS - Lol, no, not quite tropical! Our Destination Wedding is in Boise, Idaho! Sure, not what you'd typically think of for a desination wedding, but still. It will definitely be hot, just not humid!
Where is your wedding? Are you from Canada & getting married in Canada as well?
Hey fellow June 26'ers!!! It's coming up, that's for sure! I just finished having a LOOONG phone conversation with my caterer, but I'm pleased to report that everything is finalized now. Yipee!
I am hoping to send out invitations in the next two weeks...they took a lot longer to DIY than I thought. But they will look spectacular - I am so proud of them.
I just need to photoshop some details out, then I can upload them :) But to describe them:
They are on ivory cardstock, and have a moss green leaf stamped onto each one. At the top of the invitation, I tied a chocolate brown ribbon. They are simple, but holy smokes, they took forever to stamp, print, and there are inserts with maps as well that are not even complete yet.
I'll post the fininshed product in Invitations when they are finally complete :)
@Mojito That sounds wonderful! Hot, and not humid is almost better! :)
My wedding is in Canada, my fiance and I live in Alberta, so that is where our wedding will take place. Small town, but should be a great time! :)
@Valhalla We would love to see your invites! They sound gorgeous! I also DIY my invites, which was such a hard task at times, but you feel so proud when you are done! :)
I'm super excited!! but also a bit nervous...there is still a LOT to do!
Oh gosh, I am getting nervous, yesterday was the 10 week mark! So much to accomplish still!
I still haven't mailed invitations, I'm running out of time I think!
Hey Date Twins!!!
it's getting here. I am so ready for it to be here and see everything play out as it should. I just sent out my DIY invites last Thursday and have gotten 4 rsvp's back. They took us about 2 weeks to DIY. I will post pics in a little bit. Super excited for it to be here!
farmersdaughter - I totally agree!!! I just said that to my Mom last week. She laughed at me!!!
Sixty six days to go! We've gotten 11 RSVP cards back in the mail so far...hopefully more today!
OK, so I bought my dress for my shower and dress for the rehearsal last night!! Woo-hoo. The store called yesterday to tell us that my FI's ring came in. We go out to the mall to pick it up and - it doesn't fit!!!! OMG - I thought that I was going to faint. When we bought it they sized him and said that it could not be "sized" that it had to be made for the correct size. Now they are saying that they are going to stretch it. They actually asked him if he had gained weight. In 4 days, are you kidding me?
Still have to wrap, ribbon and tag those darn favors.
I am so excited to get to the day. Everytime I think about it though my chest gets all tight! I wish that I could just relax about it. This wedding is starting to consume me.
Hi date twins!!!!! I'm so glad to know everyone is as anxious as I am! I'm excited but I keep having dreams and panicky moments where I think I have forgetten something! It's coming up! Woohoo!!!!
I'm so exicted that today is our two month mark! Out of 108 guests invited, 34 have accepted so far. Our RSVP by date is coming up this Saturday, so hopefully we'll receive a few more 'yes' RSVPs by then!! I'm working on our invitations for our Denver reception (after the honeymoon), but they're just not as fun as the invites for our actual wedding.
2 months 2 months 2 months!!!!! :)
The "26th" will forever have a special place in my heart after all this planning!!
I'm working on my programs some more tonight!....calligrapher has the invites (going out on Monday!)
i just can't believe I'm now saying "NEXT MONTH!!!!!!"
most things are done but still have to do:
I seriously can't wait!! It's getting so close! 36 days!!!
*We still need to pick up our wedding bands from the jewler
*Pay off our vendors
*Finish up our bridal party gifts
*I'm still looking for my 'Welcome Dinner' dress... any suggestions? I want short and white/ivory..ish. We are getting married in Charleston SC so it will be hot!
*Get our programs finished for the ceremony
Phew... Can't wait can't wait!!
I feel like I have SO MUCH TO DO. So many of my date twins are nearly done with their planning, but I feel like my to-do list just keeps getting bigger! Anybody with me? I still need to...
-get my groom to order his groomsman gifts
-get my groom to put in the groomsman tux request
-get my groom to make the rehearsal dinner slideshow (seeing a trend here? i'm marrying a procrastinator...)
-figure out gifts for my parents and my shower hostesses
-send my photog a list of desired shots
-meet with DJ to discuss reception timeline
-pay off my vendors
-a few low-key DIY projects - tears of joy packets, ceremony programs, escort cards, unity candle
-book haircut, wax, and pedicure for the week before the wedding
-track down delinquent RSVPs, then create seating chart and finish escort cards
-put together and order photo book of boudoir photos (groom's gift)
-write prayer to be read during ceremony
This is going to be a busy weekend...!
farmers I'm sorta with you.. your list of things to do reminded me of a few :)
groom needs to order his grooms gift (at least he knows what he is getting the guys- pewter beer stein with their monogram)
I have to send my photos (growing up friends and family) to my mom-in-law-to-be who is having someone put together a photo loop
write lots of thank you notes
track down rsvps... How are you getting in touch with people? Calling and asking? Texting? Emailing reminding rsvp is due and you don't have theirs?
figure out what psalm we want read at the ceremony
send my sweet grass 12" fans to our wedding planner so we can attach our program to them
final dress fitting June 6
send our music selection to our band
send ceremony music selection to our strings couple
farmer what are OOT bags?? Is that the welcome bags?
these are the gifts I got for my mother and my fiance's mother.. sweet wedding day handkerchief from Etsy. Cathy will personalized your handkerchief to say whatever you want and in any thread color.
I'm pretty sure my dad will need one too since he's a big of a tear jerker when it comes to the thought of giving his little girl away :)
@victoriar - yess, OOT stands for "out of town"! As for your question about RSVP's - we're doing it pretty much every way you mentioned. I sent a mass email at first just reminding people they need to RSVP, and a lot of people responded to that. Now, we're tracking down the really diligent slackers by phone, text, facebook...pretty much any way we can get ahold of them! I divided it up between me, my FI, and our parents to make the task less daunting.
I LOVE those handkerchiefs you found on Etsy - I will definitely look into that for our moms, thanks for the tip!
@farmersdaughter- thanks for the update on the lingo :) We have bought all of our OOT stuff.. we just have to pack them and put them all together and then get visitors guide and maps etc from the visitors center where we are getting married. It's a destination wedding in Charleston SC.
So much to do! Thank goodness for the weekends... and weddingbee.com and etsy.com :)
wowwwzers!!! I can't believe it!! We woke up this morning and said..."happy one month until the wedding".... so close AND so excited!
