Since we are now fitness friends and are talking about our diet and exercise plans, I was wondering if anyone else is working on any beauty routines to get ready for the big day
I have pretty much locked down my skincare routine (I’ve been tweaking it since around August)
what are your pre wedding beauty routines?
I’m doing weekly at-home chemical peels (that make my skin SOOOO smooth and clear) as well as using a gentle cleanser morning and night, moisturizing with maracuja/passion fruit oil (has also been awesome for my skin) sunscreen every morning and eye cream every night
A little closer to the wedding I will start a routine of remembering to exfoliate my body and put on lotion regularly. I know I wont stick to it for 6 months but If I make an effort to do it for the month before the wedding my skin will be just as soft and smooth as if I had done it for the whole engagement anyway.
I don’t know what I’m going to do for my hair yet. I’ve been trying to avoid using heat on it, as well as wear it in braids and buns more often to prevent damage. I’m also going to take the vitamin Biosil closer to the wedding. it makes my hair super healthy and strng, but it too expensive to jsutify taking all the time
closer to the day I will also look into whitening my teeth and do something about my flaky lips and dry hands as well

I have a tooth whitening tip: I have been using Rembrant toothpaste and seriously it has made my teeth so white! Just from regular brushing. If you start doing that you will notice a difference and maybe even stick with that forever; at least that’s how it’s gone for me. I will probably do a crest whitening a few weeks before the big day, but other than that I am very happy with how white my teeth have been.
I haven’t really started anything else. I’m interested to know what kind of chemical peel you use? I’ve never used one before and I’m thinking I should try it.
I have curly hair, so trying to make my hair strong and healthy has been the bane of my existance for 20 years, so I’m still working on it, but if you’re hair tends to be dry, my biggest help has been Loreal kids conditioner. I use it when I take showers before bed and then wash with my regular stuff when I style my hair for the day. The kids conditioner has very little chemicals and just brings my hair to a soft, base state. I try to use it every few days and let my hair air dry without putting anything else in it. I think I’m going to keep doing that, and maybe switch to a salon product for the few months before the wedding, just to keep my hair super soft.
As for my skin, I was going to use lotion a lot more, too. Other than that, I don’t really know what helps the most…

@kittenbear: I use the 25% mandelic acid peel from makeupartistschoice.com (not affiliated) It is their most gentle peel but it has done a great job of fading my dark spots leftover from breakouts. just if you use it make sure you use a moisturizer with sunscreen everyd ay because it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun
Also, I have curly hair too. Have you ever been to naturallycurly.com? they have messageboards about caring for curly hair and they promote a method of actually washing your hair with conditioner (sounds crazy but it did actually work when I tried it) my hair doesnt like to long term but I might do it the week before the wedding cause it does make the hair super soft. In any case I do follow their advice of using hair products that do not contain any sulfates or silicones in their ingredients and that has really helped my hair with dryness too.

Okay, thanks, I’ll look into that.
I am on naturallycurly, too! 🙂 And I have been using only conditioner for a few years now. It works great for my hair. I have also been avoiding heat and using a silk pillowcase because of what I’ve read on there. I think I have pretty much figured out what my hair likes, but I just haven’t found the type of conditioner is best, or if there is a gel or spray that works well, too.
Just out of curiosity, can I ask how you plan to style your hair for the big day? I still haven’t decided because my hair tends to get annoyed when I mess with it very much and I’m thinking a veil will really be a problem.
