@ashleekathryn:  6-8 weeks is typical (so that would be around march- april) but you can get away with 9-10 weeks (late march) prior to your wedding is typical. For any out of town guests, I would call up and let them know your date- many people need more than 2 months notice if it requires traveling.

I’m planning on addressing them end on March for our June 7th wedding when I’m home for Spring Break and have time to do it then sending them the beginning of April. We sent save the dates in September and are having 350 guests. I would suggest sending them around 8-10 weeks before with an RSVP of like 4 weeks before the wedding.

@ashleekathryn:   We plan to send them out in late January or early February.  Most on FI’s side are going overseas, so we’re allowing a bit more for them to arrive, and for the RSVPs to return.

We didn’t do Save the Dates either and we’re sending our invites out in March. We’ll likely send them March 14th for our June 14th wedding (:

No STD’s so we are sending them out mid march for our June 28th wedding, with a RSVP the last week of may

@sugarpea:  We are date twins (though I’m not from Ontario!) Thanks for the advice. I was worried that MArch was too early, but if I want them back by 5/1 or 5/14 then March is probably a good time!

@ewinannie:  No problem, date twin! (: I was worried March was too early for a while, but then I realised that I’m such a planner that I’d go nuts sending them out any closer to the wedding. I made my RSVP deadline early in May so that I wouldn’t be stressed out wondering about a guest count close to the wedding. Early bird gets the worm 😉

@sugarpea:  Right! You know that there will be people who don’t respond too, and you’ll have to hound them. I’m thinking I’m going to set my return date for 5/1/2014 because my caterer and bakery needs a firm count 3 weeks before the weedding. I don’t want to go crazy the week of 5/14 hounding people to answer me.

I figure if we send the invites out on 3/14/14, then they will have 6 weeks to reply to us. I think that’s good, no?

@ewinannie:  Yeah, I definitely think that’s enough time and will cut down on your stress! There will be enough things to think about in May besides who hasn’t bothered to send their RSVP card! 😉

@ashleekathryn:  I am not doing them either. One – cost it is just somthing else to pay for. Two – if they really want to be there they already know when it is and the information and do not need another peice of paper or what have you laying around. If they want to be there then they will.

I’m skipping Save-the-Dates because it’s far more efficient to call/send an email. It’s got a more cost-effective/personal touch to it that way.

OP, if it makes you feel any better, I haven’t even started looking at invites and/or stationery either. I have been trying to toy with the logistics so that I can tell different groups of people what time to get to our destination wedding venue by.

In hindsight, I am glad I waited to send out invites because how we word the invite will be very important. I would have had to pay to re-do them as it would be too painful for everyone to include my late father’s name on the invitation cards. I’ll be working on the invites over Christmas break and hoping to send them out in January or February.

I’m hoping people can RSVP 90 days before the wedding.
