It looks like we've narrowed it down to Costa Rica, hopefully for 9 or 10 days.  We're going to split our time between the two coasts so that we have both relaxing beach time, and some adventure!  Haven't booked anything yet, but in the serious research stage.

Where are you other June brides jetting off to post-wedding?

so glad you started this thread- i was eager to hear other ideas. We were thinking about Costa Rica too.  We are looking for a mix of relaxing and culture ...here's our list as of now

    1. Greece- Santorini and Athens

    2. Thailand - Bangkok and Ko Samui

    3. South of France/ Spain

So far Greece is the most pratical/ affordable.

Ooo I really wanted to go to Greece. Santorini was on my short list, but then I realized how expensive it will be in peak summer travel season.  We've pretty much decided on Hawaii, now just have to pick an island.  Looks like it is between Maui and Kauai at the moment. Can't wait to hear where everyone is going!

I'm an old June bride (2008) but we went to Excellence (all inclusive) Playa Mujeres near Cancun. We loved it! It did rain a few days, but the tropical rain is so warm and refreshing, it didn't put a damper on our days in the least. We'd sit on our balcony outside and read and watch the rain. It was lovely! Don't let tropical rain turn you off from choosing a honeymoon locale (although hurricanes are probably a dif. story) :) !

We are actually going to eastern Europe, but only because my FH has never left the country and he's obsessed with seeing Germany. June is a pretty good month to go almost anywhere, so we're pretty fortunate from that perspective.

marylizbeth - I've been to bangkok and Ko Phuket and have to say it was the best and most beautiful place/vacation I have ever seen/taken. If I could talk my FH into it, that's where we'd be going!

We went in June to Panama- it was AMAZING. Just as great, if not cheaper, than Costa Rica. I'll be posting about it after the recaps or PM me with questions.

We're looking into the Riviera Maya, but after reading these posts, I'm going to suggest researching some of these places!

FI really wanted to go to St. Lucia, but its hurricane season in the Caribbean, so we decided on Greece.  Crete, Santorini and Athens.  We leave the first week of June for two weeks.  Its not quite high season prices yet, but the weather should be just perfect... with no risk of hurricanes on the honeymoon!

Thanks for all the ideas everyone!  FI and I are really at a loss of where to go.  We have some other trips in July as well, so our honeymoon needs to be really affordable.  Right now we are thinking San Juan or somewhere in Mexico (depending on the political environment when it gets closer)

I really wanted to go to South America and was particularly interested in Costa Rica.  But FI pushed for Thailand and now we are pretty much settled on going there.  Like MaryElizabeth we are looking for a good week of culture combined with a few days of relaxation...  We also considered Italy, Turkey, Japan...

I'm confused, I thought I commented on this thread a day or two ago...hmmmmm...well, anyways, we were originally thinking about going to Brazil but now sort of in the mindset of holding off on that trip for our 1st wedding anniverserary and just going to the Carribbean for a true relaxing vacay, rather than actually travelling...plus, it will give me something to look forwward to once the wedding's over!

@ runrgurl - you probably did post on this thread...I believe hotchild created this thread accidentally in June 2009 first and then restarted it in 2010...So there is a double thread going on.

Yes, sorry!  I did accidentally post this in 2009 and hoped it would be deleted :o(  I hope it keeps going in here because there's some really great ideas!

We're hoping to miss any sort of bad weather in Costa Rica.  I think it's sort of their rainy season, but I heard it's like Miami, where it pours for like 10 minutes and then it's all good ;o)

We're going to California! We're going to stay in my home town for a few days so that the Mr can meet friends and family that didn't make it to the wedding and so he can see where I grew up and why i love it so much. Then we'll spend the rest of the time at Manhattan beach!

Looks like we are going to Maui for 11 nights. We had tossed around St. Lucia, Costa Rica and Spain/Portugal and finally decided on Maui. My fiance is Croatian, so when we visit his family there we can always hop over to Spain, Portugal, Greece, etc. That ruled out Europe.

I spoke to friends who went to St. Lucia and said they were bored after a few days. Our friends who went to Maui have been raving about it, after doing some research, it seems like the best pick for our budget/wants. Can't wait!

Gosh we are so at a loss for what to do in our budget. I really want to do Hawaii but its very expensive (especially coming from New York).  We are also considering the pacific coast of Mexico or a cruise from NYC to Bermuda and the caribbean. I hate that the honeymoon fell in peak travel season!

We're not quite sure what we're doing yet.  We're in the "it needs to be affordable" group, so we're kind of shying away from Europe because of the exchange rate.  FI is in charge of planning our honeymoon, and he's going to come to me with 3 different options and we're going to pick together from there.  It'll probably be something in Mexico at an all-inclusive, because then we know the set price from the get go.

So many good ideas!! Hawaii would be perfect and the weather is cooperative but I am with lovepearls coming from NYC the flight time and cost is pretty high. We priced it and realized believe it or not its actually cheaper to fly to Thailand. Cathay Pacific has great deals! You have all made me reconisder greece again too.

We love Mexico, but we've been a couple of times as a couple. I can't recommend going to Zihuatenjo and Ixtapa more! It was our favorite place totally beautiful and off the beaten tourist path.

Our plan right now is for my FI to plan the honeymoon and suprise me! Depending on our money situation this year, it could be a number of different things... anywhere from renting a cabin in the adirondak mountians of NY to Thailand would awesome... just getting awaysome where with my *husband* (ah!) would make me happy! :)

4 day Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas. Woot! lol

Due to budget constraints we'll have to leave Chattanooga at like 5 am the morning after the wedding to make the drive down to Port Canaveral. Should be exhausting BUT then we have 4 days of relaxation. :)

We are going to Orlando and Clearwater, FL. I spent a semester and worked at Disney World as an undergrad and always take any chance I can to visit. It will be my fiance's 2nd trip there. His first trip was last January with me. We are both pumped! Wish we had the $$ to go over seas.

Hotchildinthecity - we're going to Costa Rica too!! I am soo excited!! have you narrowed down hotel accomodations?

Thailand,Greece and Maui all sound amazing ! How far in advance are you all booking?? anyone doing a honeymoon registry? We are we already live together and have most of the houshold stuff we need. Just trying to decide what to use for the registry. My cousin did it a few years ago and just registered for excursions. i thought it was a great idea and saved them a good amount of cash!

we went to Northern Italy.  It was great, but HOT!  keep in mind to visit any cathedrals, reiligous centers  you must dress "modestly" with sleeved shirts and shorts to the knees.  It was difficult to find honeymoon wear that met those criteria.

We would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

We went to Panama late June through the second week of July.  It's the rainy season, but it didn't inhibit the trip.  I would highly recommend Panama, we LOVED it!  We did a little city, a little beach and little mountain time.

My dream honeymoon is Europe. Since that is way out of the budget we are going to go closer to home and drive the 7 hrs to Door County, WI and rent a cabin and chill.
