Last night FI and I got home from being OOT for the weekend and looked at the calendar and realized – CRAP! Almost all our final payments are due next week! Since they are due early May we hadn’t really seen them on the calendar (because duh – we have the April page up now). And considering we have to transfer money from our high-yield wedding savings account to our checking (which takes three days) and mail a check from cross-country – we needed to get on it ASAP!
So last night we transferred the money and wrote checks out for our cake, videographer, DOC, and the security deposit for our ceremony venue (they require a $500 check that they hold in the event you use something like confetti that’s against the contract rules – we get the money back after the ceremony, though).
We paid off the ceremony muscians, photographers, and florist when I was home for a planning trip a couple weeks ago, and our DJ, transportation company, caterer and photobooth don’t require the rest of their money until a week before.
Anyone else writing out final checks? It’s kinda scary/sad to see the bank account go from $xxxxxxxxx to, like….$.0x, ha!

StL.Ashley: Most of ours aren’t due until 7 days prior and our photog. doesn’t take final payment until we receive the disc with our photos on it and are happy with them. So we haven’t reached that point yet but man, 39 days away!

You’re reminding me that I need to check my due dates 😉 I think I have some due mid-late May but most of mine are due the week before the wedding or day of wedding so not yet! But can’t believe we are almost to May!!! crazy!

I’m actually kind of jealous! Lol, not that I am looking forward to spending all this money, but like PPs, all of our due dates are the week of the wedding. I’d rather they be spaced out so that I don’t drain our account all at once – it would soften the blow if we could do it gradually haha.
We’ve already paid our florist in full and did that back in October. We also paid our baker in full, but our biggest one will be the venue because it’s all inclusive. That’s going to be a tough check to let go of!

Our final payments are due on the day of the wedding, (Officiant, and wedding venue which include everything including cake and flowrs). While I am not writing up checks right now I am quite stressed as the money is still not there 100%, I know I will have it all ready by the day of the wedding but its very stressful!! The officiant is halfpaid-we owe $225 and the venue we’ve paid a $500 deposit and have $1657 to go 🙁 I’ve bought my dress and shoes yesterday! My veil will be a present from my best friend. We also ordered FI wedding band which came to about $350 and I’ll have to pay that at the end of May when the ring is ready to picked up. I also have to get my wedding band sized which will be antoher $45 I think. Plus my FI birthday is next saturday! VERY STRESSFULLLLL

jaykwellan: Yeah, we paid everyone in full who would give us a discount – which really wasn’t too many things. Our florist gave us a discount for paying in cash, and they’re a very reputable, well-known design company in the area so I had no problem doing that. I would have rather paid everything off months ago, but we figured this way we’re earning the interest, not them.
I couldn’t stand waiting that long to pay everything off. I think I’m going to pay everyone early except our photobooth lady because I don’t really know her (I only contacted her via email – I’ve never seen her in person, ha!).

StL.Ashley: Yep!! We paid in full our florist last week! It was quite exciting. The other due dates are later this month! The time is flying by!!

Ours are due between 7-14 days before, need to look and write them down. Thankfully I just hand the list over to dad to write the checks! Still haven’t met my DJ or hair or make up artist or the photobooth people, florist never sent a contract, haven’t talked to my photographer in over a year, still need to find a videographer, don’t have shoes or jewlery, they let my dress OUT instead of IN, so I’m a bit behind lol Hopefully after graduation I can get it all done. Ah less than 6 weeks!

We have paid all but the florist, Venue and photographer. The florist will be paid this week at some stage once i get the full quote back. I actually quite like paying everyone. Feels like i have done something and can tick it off my list lol.

I just had an “oh shit” moment a little over a week ago when I realized that our venue required something sort of like a second deposit…we paid $500 a year ago and another $500 was due 60 before the wedding, and then the rest is due about a week before the wedding.
I guess I should check my contract with my photographer to see if I owe her anytime soon!

- Wedding: June 2014 - Garden ceremony and Conservatory reception
Many of ours are due about 7-14 prior to the wedding date, but we did have a photography installment and we owe the balance on our venue shortly. Our bank account is definitely starting to feel it!
The worst for me is all of the smaller items that add up so quickly; marriage licence, facials, spray tan trial, lingerie, etc. I’m so excited to get married and officially call my man my husband, but I cannot wait for our finances and budget to turn back into “normal” life!

Our florist, photographer and DJ are all paid off. My parents are paying for the caterer and rentals, so the only big bill we have left is the alcohol. I had a bit of a rude awakening on Saturday at my final fitting. I was getting in the car to go to the salon and just suddently remembered – shit, I have to pay the second half of the alterations today!! It’s the little things though – marriage license, tanning minutes (I refuse to burn on our honeymoon) and the full colour/cut I plan on getting the week before the wedding…but little by little, the list is getting smaller 🙂

Anyone else having minor panic over what their wedding is costing?
FI put together a spreadsheet yesterday of the major amounts, tracking what we have already paid and what is left to pay – & it doesn’t include a few thousand of what I have put out. Minor panic attack on my part. We are lucky to not have had to stick to a tight budget (bonus of being professionals in our 40s, that have long set up home), but also knowing we are paying for the whole thing ourselves has freaked me out too. Next year it’s going to feel like we have won the lottery!

StL.Ashley: FI’s been paying the big things to earn credit card points on his gold card, plus he has a lot more savings than I do.

I just paid my cake off today! It feels nice to have one less thing to worry about.
