Yep, I did. It's pretty standard to have some sort of planner around here. This is a popular place for DC brides to get married, so our prices are probably higher than in your area. The least expensive DOC are about $850 and they go up to $2500. Partial planning help is obviously much more.
Yes, the venue I chose has one. I feel much better knowing someone else is helping me get things done. She will also direct the rehearsal.
Said from the perspective of being on the other side already: OUR DOC was the BEST money I spent in the entire wedding! She stepped in a month before our wedding to start pulling every last detail out of my head. We had weekly skype calls, frequent e-mails, and tons of collaboration. On the day of our wedding, when my venue decided to not have the tables ready for the florist at 1pm as promised, our DOC handled a full re-schedule of the plan. When I forgot the crochet hook to fasten my buttons at home (90 minutes away), our DOC was on top of it and found me another one to use. She set out all of our decor and generally was a rockstar. I got to be the bride and just enjoy the day because I knew all of the decisionmaking was in good hands. Get a good DOC. He/she will be worth his/her weight in gold!
I also have hired one to not have to worry about the last minute questions, etc. to have a point person to answer all questions. Mine only ran $400.
I've hired one, since I don't want to be stressed about anything on my wedding day. She will handle all the vendors, the rehearsal, directing guests and any problems that arise. I feel so much more relaxed already! She was only $450, which I think is a good price for peace of mind.

Hi Bees,
Disclaimer: I am a type A, kind of neurotic, detailed oriented person by nature!
Originally, FW and I didn't plan on hiring a wedding planner at all. We knew exactly what we wanted for our wedding and didn't think we needed to hire a planner.
However, in the last month or so, my anxiety over the rehearsal and day of logistics has increased exponentially (this may be due to the fact that I'm now working for a floral designer and it's high wedding season). I've started interviewing for a day of coordinator and am hoping to get a good deal, especially because we are having a morning ceremony and reception.
Has anyone else hired a DOC? How much did they cost? What has been most stressful for you so far? Anybody else feel overwhelmed already? Am I just crazy??
