8 months feels like forever to me! I have only been engaged 1.5 months though so I am still in "oh my gosh is this real" phase.
I am having the name change sadness too... it's been my name for 24 years! Cursive E's are fun though.
Yeay for March 27th by the way!
our total engagement time is going to be over 1.5 years so it's really weird to find ourselves under a year. anybody planning on doing save the dates in the next few months?
Same boat as lavenderpug... a very long engagement. ;) We have already started sending save the dates, but we're a little early about these things!
We ordered our save the dates from vista print about a week ago. We're going to be collecting addresses shortly and sending these out before we hit the seven month mark.
We've been engaged since December -- March 2010 seemed rather far away at that point. It's weird to see the six month mark approaching...
I am the same as lavenderpug and marigold....it will be over 2 yrs of being engaged by the time March rolls around! I am very ready and I am very ready to become Mrs. C as well. I think because it has taken so long to get to the point of actually being married I am really starting to feel that, "Wow, this is it" feeling. FI and I have been together for 6 years, we have a house together and otherwise pretty much live like a married couple. However, there is just something about that idea of pledging the rest of your life to this person in front of friends and family that brings butterflies to my stomach when I think of it (in a good way). In our 6 years I feel like our relationship really has grown and I just cannot wait what the next few years will bring and for the day to come when I can call him my husband. So, at the 8 month mark I am really feeling that "This is real" feeling. :)
We sent out our Save-the-dates last month and I am looking in to invitations now. Maybe a bit early, but I don't want to be rushing when it comes time. I want to be full aware of my vision and start assembling so I can take my time and make them just as I want them.

I just sent out our STDs via e-mail today, and got our wedding website going. I could not get things organized fast enought to order paper ones, and I needed to get them out because we're having a destination wedding. I'll definitely be more on the ball about invitations.
Now that the major decisions have been made, contracts signed, deposits paid, it definitely seems real.
We sent out save the dates almost immediately after setting venue and date since it is at least a 12 hour drive for both of our families. A lot of them are looking into renting houses on the beach together & making it a huge family reunion! I am so excited! I was a little relaxed after I sent out the save the dates until I saw someone post Mrs. Bee's time line for her March 5th wedding and she sent invites in January, and ordered her dress in September! It's almost August!!! That's a month away! Eeeh... it's going to go fast!
I am really excited but I am in the middle of moving so for the next month my planning has pretty much come to a halt. Its driving me crazy I want to get things done but its really not possible. UGH

@Mrs. Starfish - I think that was me. Haha Seeing her timeline actually made me feel better about my own. The only thing I am kind of nervous abotu rigth now is that I have NOT ordered my dress yet! Has everyone done this already?!
I went today and tried on dresses to try to figure out what I want (pictures I cut out were all over the board). I found the most perfect dress... it would look good if I don't drop any weight! Only problem... twice my budget for a dress... back to square one.
Yes, I have found my dress. Only because we'll be out of town as of February 1, and I need to take the dress with me for our destination wedding. I started shopping at the end of May and tried on 40+ dresses. Part of that was just because I really loved trying on dresses. It's something I'll never get to do again (knock on wood). I'm happy with my final decision.
@Mrs. Starfish. Just keep shopping until you find "the one." You might be surprised. If not, you might want to look into having your dream dress copied by a talented seamstress.
Luckily I only tried on four so I know I have plenty of other options & now I know what styles look good on me and what to look for!
@ EricaR we are moving at the end of October so I am expecting planning to halt around that time. Funny how much you aquire in a year! We moved down here so quickly neither of us got rid of anything just packed, put in the car, and drove! I am not doing that this time!
@Miss Hot Sauce- I am glad you posted the time line the ones in books are unrealistic. It was good to know dresses take so long to ship I hadn't even thought of it! My goal is to order by the end of September now.
I had planned to order my dress by August and now I am giving myself a deadline of no later than September. I wanted to loose some weight but that just hasn't happened yet.
I found a great dress a few weeks ago shopping with my mom. We were going to get a good deal on it (and it was couture) but it had to be that dress which was 2 sizes too small. I felt like you, back to square one, but I really had my eye on a different dress in the first place. But now, especially after going to the bridal show this weekend, I find myself looking at other dresses wanting to find something similar to the couture dress I could not have, so my list of dresses keeps getting bigger and bigger.
I'm going to Atlanta in a week and a half to dress shop with my FMIL, Mom and MOH. Should be a good time and I'm hoping to order the dress that day! I'm not too picky and I'm not going to look at anything out of my budget (thus keeping me from becoming smitten with a dress I can't actually have)! We're also going to finalize BM dress color. I'll have the MOH there with me to help me make the final decision. Maybe she'll even be able to try on a few BM dresses while we're there.
@ DC Anna - I share the same philosophy of not looking at anything out of my budget. That's why when anyone says couture I say "Nevermind" and walk the other way. LOL I started to do that with the dress I tried on but the owner was like, "Wait, I can cut you a deal in your price range!" I knew trying on that size was a long shot but I did anyway. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be.
I haven't ordered my dress yet, either, but I will in about 3 and a half weeks. I still don't know what I'm getting. ;)

I got an email from the knot this morning reminding me that today is 8 months from my wedding! Eeep!
I can't believe it's only eight months to go. The first 8 have flown by, I can only imagine what it will be like from now until the wedding!
On a side note -- does anyone else have name change sadness? I'm oddly sentimental and when I got the 8 months email, I thought: Oh, only 8 more months of being Anna C_____ T______. I suppose I should start practicing cursive H's (FI's last name start with H) since I've always been AWFUL at them.
