Good luck! I hope he gets the job!! I'm sure that would make everything go smoother....and faster :)
@luckyprincess: Thank you so much!!! I do too, it would be a dream come true for us financially and emotionally for him. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but aaahhh how exciting it would be!
Oy, I know how that goes!! I'm hoping for this spring or summer also.. a week before Christmas he told me "within a year" but I also know that he's not really into holiday proposals, so he wouldn't wait that long. Unfortunately no tax returns from California for us (last year, idk about this year yet). Just need to figure out how to convince him to stop spending money on hockey equipment..
I'm definitely hoping for your bf to get into the union.. Does that open up more and better-paying jobs for him? That would be so great for both of you! Your boy cracks me up with his idea about an "outdoor proposal" - men and their strange priorities!!
@kirabee: I definitely have a man like that too, I know for sure it wouldn't be a holiday proposal. Ick about the tax returns! That stinks :/ We're in IL, so it's not much better. His federal return was good, but broke even with the state. I'm getting a whopping $21 back, lol.
And my boy used to play hockey too!! He played for over 10 years. He's thinking about getting back into a recrelational team... but then I would prob. be in the same boat as you with him spending all the $, haha.
The union would guarantee him work for the rest of his life, pretty much. Great benefits, great pay. And upon retirement, he would be making 80% of his ending pay which is awesome.
I hope he gets the job!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for him!! and for you getting your engagement and ring!!! : )
Thank you ladies! :) It's nice to know we're getting good mojo sent our way :)
We just found out the interview is Feb 5th! We should find out in Mid-April. Talk about the longest 2 months EVERRRRR.

I know it's going to happen this spring or summer. I'm 99.9% sure. If it doesn't, I will seriously have to re-evaluate this relationship. (I'm half-joking.. I think. haha)
Last year, he kind of implied that his tax refund was going towards a ring. Well, I'm pretty sure that was spent a loooong time ago, and not on a ring.
This year, I did his taxes and he's getting enough to pay for the ring in full plus a whopping $10 left over ;) Last night, we were discussing what the money might go towards -- a vacation, a new camera lens... and I said Or.. you could get me something I reeeeally want! :)
He replied, "Now I don't even wanna take the money out of the bank because you'll be wondering every day" I wanted to scream... I ALREADY AM!
We talked about the engagement for a few minutes, and he told me what I already knew, the delay is 100% due to where he's at in his job/career. He makes half as much as me and it really gets to him. CROSS YOUR FINGERS for us please -- he's interviewing for the electrical union for the 3rd year and it would be the BIGGEST blessing if he would get in. If he doesn't, I'm afraid it might delay the engagement even more, and I'm really hoping for a 2012 wedding. We're not getting any younger!!!!
So yeah, here I am in the dead of winter with inches and inches of snow outside just WAITING for it to be warm outside. He's already told me it will "probably" be an outdoor proposal (which means it "will").
So I know it's not an IF, but a when..... which makes me all the more impatient because I know the decision has already been made in our hearts.
