I think that 99% of police men and women are amazing people who choose that career path to selflessly serve their communities.

I have nothing but the utmost respect. Thanks for sharing.

@MrsPaulsBabyBallerina:  I totally agree with you. My FI is a police officer and I hate hearing other people talk badly about them.

I think the majority of people who bad mouth cops only do so because they have committed a crime at some point in their lives and not gotten away with it.

Unfortunately, many people have bad experiences with police officers, especially minorities. I dated a police officer who was a classic example of someone who should NOT have power, a gun, etc., but he worked with many, many wonderful guys who were glad that I left him.

@MrsPaulsBabyBallerina:  So sorry for the loss. As with all people, in all professions, there are good people and bad people. That is the same in the military, in the police force, and in hospitals. It’s the same in schools and in churches. It just is what it is. 🙁 Sorry your friend and your husband get flack because there are some very very bad cops out there. 🙁

@vorpalette:  I understand what you mean. It doesn’t make ALL cops bad guys, but there is a HUGE appeal for 1) the firearm and 2) the authority. A lot of really really messed up people with crazy issues go for those types of jobs because they like feeling like the big man in town. 🙁 And you’re right about minorities.

I’m also a policeman’s wife, and we are both ex-army. I get it. I really do.

I’m not going to watch, but I just wanted to say I really have a lot of respect for people who are cops and firemen… and nurses. Well lots of peope. But people who serve others, there’s something humbling that there are people out there willing to give their lives just to keep you safe and help you.

@dicapriosimaginarywife:  Never had one treat me that way. Even then, when you serve the public it’s hard not to have bitter days. Some nights I have a hard time not resenting my patients. People really don’t like being told they are doing something wrong and really don’t like being given tickets and being arrested. These people choose to break the law and endanger other people, but they have their head to far up their butt to realize it. So they get all mad at cops who are doing their job.

Like others have said, some people are just rude. Of course there are going to be some rude cops. There’s going to be some rude neruosurgeons, waitresses and entomologists too. Jerks infiltrate every industry.
