A design I am thinking of ordering for our inviations has an RSVP card option that doesn’t allow for much customization, yet everything else in the invitation suite allows it. So, I plan on making my own using the enclosure cards. Doing it this way, it won’t include envelopes for people to return the RSVPs in.
I mentioned this to my FI yesterday and he asked if we’d just be able to put our address on the back of the 5X4 RSVP card with a stamp, and have people mail it back like a postcard. I told him that I didn’t know, but that is a good idea. Otherwise, I can hit up Office Depot/Max and get envelopes that fit.
Can you just mail a 5X4 size card, even if it’s not a postcard, with a stamp on it? Or would I need the envelope?

Kacie209: If you live in the USA, USPS gives the minimum size for personal mailing on their website.
I assume other countries’ postal services have minimums also.
You will need to ensure that you have a return address and your address printed like a postcard.

Good question.. i really have no idea! But you could order postcards from Vistaprint and customize those online. They usually have good prices!

julies1949: Thanks for the suggestion to check the USPS Website for this information! I shoudl have known, ha. 🙂
MissHockey: Good idea on the separate postcards… that may be an option! I am OK with them not matchign the invitations at all, so that could work too. We figure it’ll be easier, too.

I literally got one just like this today. It’s a response card with the couple’s name on the back and a stamp. I guess we will see if that works!

I don’t know about the postcard requirements dimension wise, but postcards cost less for postage!

I am leaning towards the postcard route now, as they seem WAY easier and will save some money stamp-wise. Nothing matches any inviations, but I am not too picky with that stuff.

Yes, you can mail your 5×4 card as a postcard! I can tell you for a fact it works because my work just printed out some invitations postcard style (they were pretty flimsy, too) and we were able to stick a stamp on it and mail it out. Just make sure the postcard is:
- At least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inch thick
- No more than 4-1/4 inches high x 6 inches long x 0.016 inches thick
We made the mistake of making the card over 6 inches long so we had to pay regular postage prices. As long as you stay within those dimensions, you’ll only have to pay the postcard rate which is $.34 instead of $.49.
