@Carolyn72: I don't think having a pro photographer makes a perfect wedding.
It's all about the EDITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I are photographers and we are editing our own pics. If you want, you can send me a few of your pics and I can edit them for you! Let me know!!
"It's all about the editing!"
Spoken by a true non-photographer. :)
@Donnica22: Awww, thank you that is so sweet! I might take you up on that :D
@Donnica22: LOL, I had my reception the day you got married! I have been asking the guests for pics and they are being so weird about coughing them up :( But I did get some decent ones from the beach.
I had a "pro" photographer and I am still jealous of all the gorgeous pics I see. I am editing mine myself so I can understand how you feel. We had the cameras on the table so we are hoping that there are some items on there that the photographer missed.
Editing is just a bandaid, an image needs to be as correct as possible in camera, lighting, exposure, composition. Also, no photographer should be editing another photographers images, as a pro, you should know this.
@USER876: why shouldn't a photographer edit someone's pictures? They are just mine, taken by family. Interesting...
@Carolyn72: As long as your family members give proper permission, that isn't an issue, but a true professional will require a release in writing.
Your dad takes a picture, by law owns the copyright because he is the creator
Your photographer edits it and submits it to a contest
Photographer wins a million dollars
Your dad is pissed, it's his image!
See where I am going?
Need to formalize things....and a pro knows this.
@USER876: I don't think there is anything wrong with editing some of the pics that their guest took at their wedding! And I wouldn't edit an out of focus shot. Obviously we choose some of the best and edit those!
I won't be using any in a contest. Just trying to help a fellow bride. I wouldn't want to feel as though I had no wonderful pictures from my day!

So, with the four months of wedding planning, I always wanted a PRO photographer, but obviously knew I had NO budget for it. Zero, zilch, nada. I tried to get a student photographer, but that didn't work out. Don't get me wrong, I got some okay pics of my special day, but I do get irritated when I see Recaps, and I see "only non-pro" waiting for PRO pics.
Yes I am jealous, but everytime I see this I wanna SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAM!
Not everyone can have the perfect wedding, so yeah, I am pretty much done now, just wanted to get that out......................
