First off- I’m taking him to the vet tomorrow.
Second off- I don’t know if it’s just because he is nervous or if this is just his nature but I’m getting a little nervous.
He hasn’t really eaten much- I’m probably jumping the gun because I just adopted him yesterday but he also doesn’t do anything- he just sits. He’s very lathargic. I am hoping this is just because he is scared or nervous.
I’m worried he might have heartworms- it’s the only thing I could think of and honestly if he does and they were up front with it and didn’t take a hefty adoption fee I could deal with it.
He is also a little skinny, I know he’s been living in a garage with a fan for the last week but even with a fan that would be unbearable in Texas. Oh they told me he turned 1 in May.
This is him now:
And this is him when he was presumably younger and just groomed:

You can buy some glucose paste and give him a little bit of that if he’s not eating, you don’t want to him to get low blood sugar. He’s probably just adjusting to your home and is scared, maybe take some food in your hand and try to feed him that way or bring him his water so he knows it’s okay. And lots of snuggles 🙂

Aw! Bless his heart!
I agree that he”s probably just nervous with his new environment. Good to take him to the vet for a general checkup though!
I hope he starts to warm up soon!

Aww how cute! When I first brought mine home he didn’t eat for almost 3 days, I put natural chicken broth on the food which helped him finally eat. He was also skinny from not eating regularly, he filled out after a month or so of regular meals.
This is a huge adjustment for him so he’s prob nervous and note quite sure what to think.
Good luck at the vet! Let us know how it goes.

Aw, what a cute little puppy!
I think that he may be nervous and adjusting to his new environment. I’ve had my dog for almost 7 years and when I moved into my apartment with FI, she wouldn’t eat for almost a week. She was a nervous nilly.
I’m hoping he comes home with a clean bill of health tomorrow. Please keep us updated.

Any news on the lil guy??

He could be just getting used to his surroundings, or depending on where you got him from, he may have picked up kennel cough or pneumonia. Hopefully things are looking better for you!
As far as heart-worm, I don’t think any reputable rescue or shelter would give you a dog with it! Its very serious and the dog would not last long without treatment, and wouldn’t be let out of an animal hospital until given the okay.
