That is so awesome! My mom is in the middle of quitting, and she has made it 7 weeks!
I am so proud of her, and you too! Keep it up!
Congrats Congrats Congrats! I haven't had a smoke since January 8!! Feels great doesn't it???
Congratulations to you both. You guys will do great and feel soooo much better. I've been cigarette free since I started dating J 1-1/2 years ago.
@Lindsay12.31.2010: Thanks so much! Tell your mom that even though I don't know her, I'm proud of her for keeping it up!
@Bostonsmom: Congrats to you too! It does feel great. I can do everyday things like climb stairs without getting winded. I love it. Isn't it great that you can smell again? I didn't even realize that things could smell different until I quit.
@DesireeAnne: Good job on quitting over a year ago! :) It's not easy, but it's so worth it.
@LindsayB: Yay! I will tell her! She said for her, the hardest part is the routine. When you have smoked for so long, she said that it's hard to break the habit of WHEN you do it, like before bed, etc. But I am so, so proud of her!
Awesome job! Quitting seems really hard (I have asthma, so I never started), and it's great that you guys are doing it together! :)
Congrats!!! I dont smoke, but i know ppl who have quit and they have said its one of the hardest things to do!!
@LindsayB: Oh, it was the toughest thing ever. My family is full of smokers so they'd all go out and have a cigarette. I felt left out. Silly, right? I'm choosing a healthier lifestyle, but felt left out when they'd all congregate together. Haha. It was also hard when I'd go out to the bar for a few drinks. All I wanted to do was to have just one smoke. Halloween this past year is the first time I drank and hung out with a bunch of smokers and never craved a single cigarette. So, it was a long wait for me, but as you said, it's worth it. Gum has become my best friend.
@Lindsay12.31.2010: The routine is a really difficult part about it for me too. Especially when I'm at work. I was used to going out for a half of a cigarette every hour, on the hour. I still catch myself once in a while checking the clock to see if it's time for a smoke break until I remember that I don't smoke anymore. :P
@DesireeAnne: I can totally relate: My family and FI's family are full of smokers too! It's really tough not having one when I'm visiting them, but instead I pop a hard candy or sip on a glass of ice water. I also feel a little left out when they light up. It was part of my identity for so long...it's almost like part of me isn't related to my family anymore. Also, it sucks leaving their homes smelling like smoke. I still can't get over how bad I must have smelled when I smoked. It burns my nose now!
Thanks everyone! All of your support is so heartwarming and wonderful! :D
@LindsayB: whoa awesome! Good for you - are you quitting cold turkey? My brother smokes and all of my college friends smoke so I know how hard it is to quit!
@LindsayB: Congrats! You should be proud, that's awesome! Such a hard habit to kick. Good for you!!
Congrats! SO has been trying to quit so I know how hard it can be, especially that first month

We've both tried multiple times to quit smoking, but haven't ever made it this far. It's going to stick. Yay for a healthy life! :)
