@mari892: Ditto! It sounds like it's going to be extremely romantic and personal! Congrats, and have fun!
congrats!!!
have you already seen this?

maybe her posts can help w/planning details.
@MrsTCB: No I had not seen her post. Thanks for that! I'll have to ask where she got the vehicle!
Thanks everyone! I am very excited! I was going for a romantic and intimate wedding from the begining and I'm glad I get it now!
It sounds fun! I can see why people do this. I told my boyfriend that instead of getting married we should just elope and travel. He thought it was a good diea too.
The money spent on a wedding can go far when you put it into airfares!
OMG First off Congratulatoins. It sounds amazing! Thank you so much! We are seriously considering this! Will you exchange vows in a church or somewhere else and what will the both of you be wearing?
Congrats! That sounds amazing! I just got engaged in December and my FI and I have definitely considered the exact same thing. I know it would definitely keep down the cost of a "real" wedding and most importantly, be a memorable, intimate experience without all the stress! I wasn't sure how do-able or realistic this idea was at first. I kept thinking about how difficult it would be to book a photographer and the other little details that come with getting married, but it seems that your plans came together and you are making this a reality! You definitely give me confidence in going forward with this idea (if I can get past feeling bad about not having my family/close friends with us!) Good Luck to you both!
Congrats. Kind of wish I went this route. But it's hard when you've already put so much money down! Haha.
@Mrs McCain 2012: there's a garden behind Notre Dame that we are using for the ceremony. My dress is from the Vera Wang White collection and I think he's just going to wear a black suit/black tie.
@bellaharo: Honestly, planning this has been very easy and stress free. I saw the idea to elope to Paris on Intimate Weddings. I just looked through what vendors the couples on there used and googled them! There's also several wedding coordinator services to use that will book everything. If you do it yourself it's a lot cheaper. I started out talking to Stephen Zezza and he was helpful at first and then he just stopped e-mailing me out of nowhere. I also got a price quote from One and Only Paris, they were cheaper than SZ, but I wanted to keep looking. i finally just googled "english speaking photographers" and stumbled upon Juliane (she is half the cost of SZ). She's been very helpful in giving me recommendations (ceremony locations, photo ops, driving service, restaurants, etc). Also, the ceremony is stricly symbolic so you do not have to hire a celebrant to officiate. I asked Juliane if she has any english speaking friends to do it and we're going to pay them $50-$100 to do it and write everything ourselves.
I'm still not quite decided about the chauffer for the day but i will likely be going with Paris Authentic. We also haven't fully decided on where we're eating in the evening, we want something private, but i found out Lapérouse has private rooms so I'm going to look more into it.
I put the links in there so you can have some resources if you decide to do this option! I say if you want to go for it!!
@arielle Thank You for all the resources! I will definitely keep them in mind as it gets closer to the actual planning and if we decide to go that route. It's definitely my #1 choice!
Yay! Congrats!
We are doing the same thing in 2013!
So glad you posted your photog as we were struggling to find one we loved. We were dead set against using One and Only Paris because they use the exact same ten shots for every shoot they do. I also thought their photos lacked feeling and warmth. So thank you.
Please keep us updated! Maybe we can swap ideas as we go! I have had a blast pulling together thoughts, vendors and other sources so far!
Congrats again!
How exciting !! Congratulations dear ! I'm so glad that you could get away from all the drama and just be happy that you are getting married !! I went to Paris in November, its so awesomely romantic :)
@andilovesjosh: I agree about One and Only. I would contact Juliane she has been AWESOME. She e-mailed me some beautiful photos of possible ceremony sites and I was sold. She's even been sending me restaurant ideas and today she sent me some chaffeur ideas. She suggested this company and they have vinatage cars which is what I was really hoping for. At this point, I only have good things to say about Juliane. She only charges 500€ for 2 hours and then 250€ for each additional hour for elopements (bigger weddings she charges more for).

When I get more ideas I will certainly post what vendors I'm using. I would love to help in any way I can. I'm considering starting an elopement website featuring weddings and vendor contacts.
I spent a fair amount of time reading her blog late last night.
Honestly, I'm partial to someone having connections to LA and Paris (I'm from LA and obviously have a deep love affair with Paris.) and I thought her photos were stunning.
We are also wanting to do a trash the dress session in Paris so we are thinking on that, and her prices are great.
We looked at having a coordinator but outside of two of them I wasn't terribly impressed and felt like I could do all of it myself. The only things I'm worried about are hair and make up (I'm a salon owner so this is a biggie!) and florist. We considered going to the market day of and getting fresh flowers to make our own.
You are going to have such a great time!
@andilovesjosh: I'm doing my own hair and makeup so I wasn't really worrying about that part. I don't think in France they do updos the same as we think of here. If you booked Juliane I'm sure she would have some recommendations though. For flowers, it sounds like many brides who do this just go to the local florist. I made my bouquet out of silk flowers so I can use it in Paris and for the civil ceremony.
I liked Juliane for the same reasons. Honestly I think it is possible to do it all yourself. I wasn't impressed with the coordinators either and I heard they are quite expensive. I also didn't feel like I needed someone else to plan this since it's just the two of us.
Wow that sounds so amazing and romantic!! congrats!!! I went to paris for my honeymoon and how I wished I could have gotten married in Paris. Such a beautiful place!!
That is so awesome! I love Paris - hence my avatar :)
I would have loved to do it but could not get away with it with my family; so we are doing a small destination wedding, the next best thing.
I can't wait to see your pics.
Paris was our second choice for an elopement because of these weddings I saw:
(I've never been more envious of a wedding in my LIFE): http://www.intimateweddings.com/blog/real-weddings-tiffany-brians-paris-wedding/
And these are drool-worthy as well:

Congratulations and good luck!!! Your wedding is going to be so romantic! The photographer you listed looks incredible. If New Zealand doesn't work out, I might just be contacting her. ;P

My FI and I were planning a big formal wedding for August. After being completely miserable from planning (and family dramz) we decided to cancel it all and elope to Paris at the end of April. We just booked the flights tonight and we even decided to spend a couple of days in Rome! I am SO excited and happy with this decision! Since our wedding in Paris will be symbolic (you can't legally get married there, lots of rules) we are having a "legal" ceremony here that our parents and grandparents will be invited to.
For anyone else considering this I found a reasonably priced english speaking photographer. Here is her site. Any other questions about eloping to Paris I would be happy to answer too!
Any other bees eloping to unique places? (BTW doing it this way cut our wedding expeditures in half!!)
