About 120. It is only an hour or two flight for most people and the FI lives there already, so some of his friends are locals.
My wedding isn't an out of country destination wedding. Its in Seattle but the majority of our guests are flying from NY, NJ, PA, OH, and FL. We have some flying from TX and CA too - haahaahaa
EDIT - - duh I forgot to tell you I just voted...About 80-100 are attending and we are inviting (invites haven't been sent yet) 160.
About 55 people will be attending ours in Aruba!
@ beachbrideamy: How many will be going to yours and can I ask where your DW is?
Like @Jackie-O, our wedding is a domestic DW for about 85% of our guests. We'll have expecting 70 of our 75 guests attending (the 5 I'm excluding have already RSVPed "no" on our website, based solely on STDs) & we've already sent out "B-list" invites with our "A-list" invites for those 5 slots, so it could still be 75.
Our is in Vegas. We invited 120, have about 55 attending. Flight prices certainly didn't help anything! Super expensive lately.
We had a domestic destination wedding where all the guests had to travel at least 5 hours by car or a plane ride. We had 220 people attend! I thought we'd have around 180 so the numbers surprised us!
@jackie-o I'm headed to Seatle for a wedding next month for a friend. Can't wait, I've never been there!
Mine is in Hilton Head, South Carolina. We are inviting 100, but expecting 50 or so to attend
We invited 120 and 60 came. From the looks of this thread, a 50% rate is about the average.
Okay, this is helpful. I keep vacillating back and forth between "OMG everyone is gonna come and bring a guest!" and "OMG no-one is gonna come and our venue will look sparse". Paranoia has become me.
@beachbrideamy - oh I totally know how you feel!! I went through that myself.
We invited around 60 and 36 came to Cancun for our wedding. Our guests flew in from US, Canada, Taiwan and Japan.
We are from KY and I have some family in FL , where we will have our DW , and I dont think many people will be coming because of the expense but that okay! we are having a reception when we return home!! so probably 25-30 people!
We're inviting around 65, and estimating about 20-24 attending- just based off of what people have been saying so far. Of course, I definitely hope more will make the trip, but I am super happy and excited with the number we have!
mishelleez,
i envy you. terribly. i wish i only had 8 invites. i really really do.
Haha! We're totally not mushy couple and i think it would be REALLY weird getting married infront of a lot of people. I would only have 2 friends there if i thought my mom & dad wouldnt take me out of the will!
But we are having a hometown reception! Which will be more like a big christmas party!
We invited 100 and 85 are coming. It's a local DW (an hour from our hometown) and we only have four or five faimilies coming from out of state.
We invited about 100 people and have about 65 so far for our October wedding in Cancun. We were surprised we had so many people that replied yes, but are very excited. Aout 20 are my family (huge & Italian:) and our nearest and dearest. We feel very blessed as we know times are tough for many!
Ours is "pseudo"-destination. We're getting married in Bar Harbor Maine, and most guests are in the Boston area (a 5-hour drive). The rest of our guests will be flying in from a variety of locations both in the U.S. and internationally. We're actually surprised that we're getting a really high turnout. Out of 124 guests invited, it looke like we'll have at least 100 guests, and maybe even a few more. I guess coastal Maine in the summer appeals to pretty much everyone, despite the long drive / flight. The high turnout is definitely stretching our budget a bit, but we feel blessed that so many of our friends and family members are going to be able to make it :-)
Mine is not a destination for a lot of my family, so we're still planning on a wedding with about 100 or 130 people. But, for those traveling from the US to Brazil (about 100 of them invited), we're expecting about 30-40 or so people to come. Hopefully more!
So far about 17 people have booked their flights.
Ours is a destination wedding in Bald Head Island, NC. Most of the familes/friends are coming from the Pittsburgh or DC area. The distance is drivable for a roadtrip or long weekend. We invited about 100 and are expecting about 50 but who knows. I also get paranoid that no one is going to come. We just sent out our invitations on Monday so let's see.
We had 50 guests attend our wedding. It was a great week in the sun with everyone!
One thing I'm noticing with my DW is that people tend to come in clumps. Like my college roommates. If one comes, then all three will come. But if one or two don't come, the other won't either. Same with families. If my aunt and uncle come, then my cousin (their son) and his wife and their kid will come too. Otherwise, none of them will come. It's like I will have 6 people or none from each cluster.
How to plan for that????
We invited 24 and it looks like we will have 17 not counting us. We are getting married in FL and our family is in PA. Small and intimate, just like we wanted :)

How many people are attending your (or are you expecting to attend) your destination wedding?
