@mylittleviolett:  My colors since I was a kid have always been, blue and pink. The inspiration is a friends shirt, and one of the kimonos in Memoir of a Geisha. The blue and pink are very specifc shade. The blue is a pale aqua. The pink is coral/peach. Coral/peach flowers have always been my favorite, and it is the only color flowers I could imagine at my wedding. Now I see the blue/pink combo everywhere but the blue is more of a mint or turquoise.

@mylittleviolett:  I’m curious to see your dress now- it sounds really pretty!

I started off trying to match colors to the venue so we wouldn’t have to decorate as much. I picked burgundy and gold. But then every time I was looking online for things the gold version seemed so tacky compared to the silver, so I switched. Then we went bridesmaid dress shopping and the burgundy just wasn’t for me… so I needed a whole new direction. I love pink, but I didn’t think it could go with our venue. Then I saw these two colors together somewhere… voila!

My colors are black, blush, cream and gold. Our wedding is black tie and I knew I wanted our bridal party in black. I love gold so thats why I added that in, but I also love neutrals – cream and really pale blush are two of my favorite colors. So I just put them all together.

BM dress (but it’ll be in black):

Blush flowers:

Cake will be just like this one, but the ribbon will be light gold and the flowers will be blush. Same gold cake stand

Cream linens on all of the tables other than the dinner table

Small gold vases with flowers

Gold rimmed or beaded chargers

FI looks good in blue and black and white goes with everything.  My cake totally doesn’t match, but I want a fun, nerdy cake dammit!

My favorite color is purple, it gets out of hand at times, like half my wardrobe is purple, most of the blankets I own are purple, all my purses are purple, basically if it comes in purple that is what I get.  So how could purple not be a color in my wedding???? HAHA  FI said it can’t all be purple so I told him to pick a second color.  He picked torquoise because it looks so pretty with purple and it isn’t super girly.  And that is how we got our colors 🙂

Oddly enough my shoes.  I am not a shoe person, but I fell in love with a pair of shoes that I could dye and loved a bright blue color for them.  I had my heart set on a dark purple, but my OCD came out and I couldn’t have shoes that were blue and a wedding that was purple (and purple shoes are out of the question for some reason). That and we’ve moved our wedding to the coast so blue is natural.

When I first started thinking about colors, I was in love with the color Tiffany Blue. I had found a great pair of shoes in that color and was all set to order them…DH had given me a sky blue topaz and diamond bracelet, so it seemed perfect.

Then I found a picture of these shoes in my absolute favorite color. The search was then on to find them, because I wanted them so bad. I had a heck of a time finding them, but once I did, they completely changed our wedding colors. It went from Tiffany Blue to pink.

Of course, looking back, I realize that I should have gone with pink from the very beginning. It has been my favorite color for my entire life.  Although I love the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Audrey Hepburn, and I think the Tiffany Blue would have been very classic, the pink was more me.
