Just engaged but ring is too big – can I still wear it?

@JustAnotherBee:  It’s hard but I wouldn’t wear it. What if you lose a stone or (eek!) the whole ring falls off? I would maybe go grab a cheap stand-in for you to wear right now.

Just FYI, a lot of people’s fingers are smaller in the winter and warmer in the summer. Did you measure your finger when it was warmer out? Maybe you could go just a little bit smaller?

Look into sizing beads. They are awesome.

@JustAnotherBee:

If it is not falling off of your finger (e.g. it gets caught nicely on your knuckle and the only trouble is the ring spinning), I wouldn’t get it resized for now.

When I got my ring, it wa size 3.5 and it was literally flying off of my finger – but I kept it because I figured winter was keeping my fingers smaller.

Then summer came around and it still flew off of my finger, so that’s when I decided to get it resized to size 3.  The ring fit very snug and nicely throughout the summer as size 3.

Now that it’s winter again, my ring spins around a lot as if it’s too big, but doesn’t fall off of my finger as before.  If I were to get my ring fitted to my current “winter finger”, it would have to be size 2.75 – but once summer comes around, I highly doubt it’ll fit at all.

TL;DR:

If it’s falling off of your finger easily, get it resized. If it still stays on while spinning, don’t. If you are worried that winter is the reason for extra room, you can get a ring noodle on the Internet for around $5 or add beading as OPs suggested (though I find them unnecessary as long as the ring isn’t falling off).

I would for sure not wear it.  How bad would that stink if you wore it and something happened to it between now and when you bring it in…yikes. Congrats on your engagment though!!

I wouldn’t — you could scratch it, or worse, loose it!

I would be careful changing it. California weather is much warmer. My fingers swell in warm temperature and shrink with cold.

If you are going to return it, no, I would not wear it.

Sizing in North America is universal.  😉

Sizing in Canada and US is the same.

I would NOT wear it.. you may damage it and then you’re stuck with it.

Once you get the new ring, insure it immediately.
