Hay lovelies! I actually remember the very first time I saw one of these bouquets and I was mesmerised! There was no way I wanted anything else. So I started to aske for quotes and was gobsmacked at the $600 price tag for some. So I decided to make my own. I purchased my brooches from eBay from around $1.80-$7 USD per brooch. I used about 30 on mine and about 15 on my daughters. Keep an eye out for bulk sales. I managed to win an auction for 50 assorted brooches for $20USD plus $15 shipping. SCORE! I also purchased silk touch roses in white, off white and ivory. Florist wire in various sizes and thicknesses, satin to wrap my handle and to tuck up under the “umbrella” of flowers and brooches, florist pins, and just about any other blingy embellishment I could out wire into hahaha. The handle was so thick I actually used two toilet rolls (empty) and cut them length way to cover all the messy wire. I hot glue gunned in place and then wrapped in satin, ribbon and pins. The odd glue drop here and there to keep everything in place.
Honestly it took me DAYS to put this sucker together! The whole process is amazingly time consuming and I can now appreciate why professionals charge $600! They deserve it. My fingers were tore to spreads at the end lol. BUT….. I loved every single moment. It was something I could sit down with my 9 up daughter and do together. It was so lovely to create something with her. She picked out her brooches and together we designed and shaped her smaller version.
These things are HEAVY! I wouldn’t want to be in the receiving end of this bouquet toss hahaha. I’ve decided to keep mine as a keep sake and possibly an heirloom piece. My daughter has already laid claim to it for her wedding. 🙂
i could not tell you how happy I am with these. They are exactly how I in visioned. If not better. I hope you like them. Let me know your thoughts xx
