I wonder sometimes about what brought everyone here. I know some people have talked about other message boards/communities they were apart of before. But for me, I did not even know message boards and communities like this even existed before i found the bee. I was totally fascinated by the whole concept of it! LOL.
I found it after trying on my Jenna dress for the first time and i started googling it because from a prior dress i had bought and sold i had learned that i could google the dress and find real people wearing them and talking about them (you must think i am from a different era or something for not knowing this!). But before having dress regret, i never really considered at all about finding an online community of brides devoted to wedding planning!
So after googling the Jenna dress, it brought me to a weddingbee thread where another bee had posted a picture of herself and there was a whole discussion with the picture - i was in awe! I then searched the weddingbee search bar for "Jenna" and found more and more threads about it and was just blown away. Then the addiction was born. I started lurking, but ONLY on the dress boards for like a week or two, then i joined and got help deciding on my dress once and for all and then started using the other boards and have never left since! It serisouly changed the course of my wedding planning. I only wish i knew about it before i got engaged, i would have made so many decisions differently about very important/key things, but oh well, what was done was done and i am now a happily married woman!
So, how did you find the bee and why did you join/stay??
I was searching for pictures of other women's engagement rings. I stay for the enagement ring pictures. Kind of crazy, I know. I just like rings that much.
I googled. "I hate my Mother In Law" and bingo, google brought me to the Bee! I was looking for a blog or some advice about how to deal with her crazy butt and i am so glad that I did. I was actually mostly done planning my wedding, but getting opinions on my DIY projects is what kept me here. Now that I'm married, it's a great support system for all different issues, plus it's a good way to keep myself busy when I'm traveling or home by myself at night (DH works 2nd shift). Plus since I started a wedding planning business it's a great place to get my creative juices flowing.
I was doing a Google search on something. I think it was how to make a cupcake stand. I'm not sure but it was something wedding related. I started reading a post and the rest is history. It just sucked me right in. But, I have to say I was an occasional user prior to my wedding. Since my wedding, WB has become a full blown habit!
Everytime I googled a wedding-related question, whether it was the best type of glue for my invitations or other couples' experiences with Engaged Encounter - the best results always came from the Bee. I too lurked for a while before posting. And I also wish I'd found it sooner - we've been engaged for over two years, but I've only been on since April. It would have been a big help for earlier decisions as well!
But now I love the Bee and I plan to stay!
I honestly can't remember for sure, but I think something happened on theknot that really upset me, so I decided to not go back, but I needed my wedding fix somewhere! I think I just googled "wedding forum" or something like that! And I've loved it here ever since!
Thanks ladies, you're wonderful!
I would google wedding related things, and this website would always come up! I stayed because everyone is so nice, and I wanted to participate in conversations
I honestly have no idea what I googled that brought me here... probably a DIY of some kind. That was over a year ago..... way to many searches, googles to pinpoint "the one" lol
I've stayed b/c I really enjoy the community and I feel like it's a way for me to give back from things that I've learned... whether through the planning process or dealing with family <-- dun dun dun.. lol
I really like it here though and don't see "leaving" anytime soon.
I was just googling something and came across the bee.
And I stay because I don't really have close friends in real life to talk about girly stuff with.
I never knew about blogs or message boards until WB. I was in crisis over the blush White by Vera and had nowhere to go for help. My mom gave some advice, but was 2,000 miles away. My FI couldn't help me with this decision and I felt guilty about dress regret and didn't want to admit it to my girls.
So I posted my very 1st thread about my dress dilemma. One of the early comments was to check with FI about wearing color. Very useful advice! From there, I knew I was in a place of support and comfort...where I could be wedding obsessed and not feel isolated or alone :)
So far, it seems Google ftw! I was googling "why hasn't he proposed yet", and it brought me to the waiting boards threads. I was amazed that there were so many others out there that were in the same boat as me. Made me feel a little less crazy :) I've been hooked ever since. And I'm sure I'll stick around loooooong after our big day comes.
I googled something wedding related but i don't remember what exactly. After browsing through a few different threads i was totally mesmerized and couldn't stop reading, like" OMG, this board is the most awesome place on earth!!!" and i'm addicted ever since.
I googled Manuel Mota's Selena dress when I was first considering that option, and it brought me to the classifieds section. I then discovered the boards and posted a few questions, never thinking that I would ever become as attached/addicted as I have!!
I actually found the bee though another wedding forum, where someone on there made a board about how some girl who belonged to both forums was bashing all of us on said forum. Well I got curious what this other forum was and it was the bee! Well now I'm in luff with the bee, and hardly go on the other forum now.
I found it googling wedding stuff back in november when I first got engaged. The ring boards hooked me in. The blog, DIY stuff & pretty much everything else kept me here.
I dont' remember exactly what it was, but I was doing a google search on something for the wedding and Bingo! I found the Bee, I just wish I had found it sooner, and before the Knot, but oh well!
looks like the majority of us are the same: google wedding-something, then we get reeled in and hooked!
Well this is an addicting place, I mean I'm still here even after the wedding. I love hanging out here and getting to know everyone better, and being able to offer advice and input on wedding stuff, and I'm starting to venture out into the NWR boards as well.
Found it googling my wedding dress too! :) And stayed due to needing emotional support during wedding planning that i just could never ever have got from my current friends
I found it a couple of differnt ways: 1) through another community/board I posted on, and 2) through a Google search of "aqua and red weddings". I stayed because of all the fabulous ideas other Bees have shared, and because everyone seemed so friendly, and open with comments/advice/critiques.
I was searching for articles about "waiting for a proposal" and Wedding Bee popped up on the first page. I liked that I was able to read actual real life stories from other women suffering through the waiting game. I chose to stick around because there is a wealth of knowledge here and I will need it as I plan my wedding.
Another bride mentioned Wedding Bee, so that's how I found it.
I love Wedding Bee because you can ask any question, no matter how stupid, and people will give you good, honest advice. All friends and family likely get tired of hearing about wedding planning and the thousands of questions and details that exist. I love that there's a place for people to talk who are going through the same thing. Makes you feel not alone.
Wow. Just about everyone found it through google, including me. I was googling rings and BAM found the bee! So glad I did. I love this place. It's been down all morning and I nearly had a panic attack. lol
Yep, another googler here. And I haven't wanted to leave.
I followed Mrs. Bee's original blog, then followed her wedding planning blog when she created it for her wedding. This was the original "Wedding Bee" and after her wedding, she realized she wanted to make a career out of it so she launched THIS Wedding Bee and I just naturally followed her over here to see how it took off. I read on and off for a few years just depending on how much I liked the current bloggers, then really started reading and posting on the boards once I started planning my own wedding.
@Wonderwoman217: Same here--I was Googling "Why hasn't he proposed"
The bee got me through a really tough waiting period!
I googled "DIY invitations" and found the bee.
I joined so that I could post questions and get advice about decor, flowers, invitations, and all wedding issues.
I stayed because I am so in love with weddings & it is a source of entertainment when I need a break from work.
I was doing research for work (as in my actual job!) about candy buffets for a trade show and I landed here, thank you Google! I'm not engaged but I really enjoy reading & blogging and well, the rest is history!
I got fed up with the knot, and googled wedding boards and found the bee. I joined after lurking for a while. You ladies are so inspiring, so talented with all the DIY projects and just plain nicer. I mean everyone has their moments I know. BUT generally speaking this is a much better environment!! I love the bee!!!
Haha...google again. I googled DIY wedding stuff and ended up staying to find other DIY stuff and because it has been a long time since I posted on Boards.
A recently married co-worker of mine told me about the Bee! She said she found it right at the end of her planning and really wished she knew about the site sooner -- thank goodness for her b/c I've used WB a TON in the last year+. :)
I was googling for reviews on local venues, this board kept popping up! Ended up getting addicted, LOL.
I fell in love with Maggie Sottero's Kendra gown, and hardly anyone felt the same way I did - so I went googling for photos of other brides in the dress, and it brought me to FutureMrs.BDP's thread about Kendra. I since fell in love with another dress that everyone has agreed is the best choice for me! :)
I found The Bee while looking for advice on encore grooms. The encore bride thread popped up and I've been here ever since.
I came here looking for Jeff Liu reviews since I was giong to order a dress from him. I ended up ordering it and posting it on here. I stayed here because after I ordered it I found some really really bad reviews and I was scared shitless and one member gave me a lot of reassurance (even though hers that she ordered from him did not turn out well, I felt so bad). ANd I also stayed because I don't really have ANY close girl friends and the ones I do have are quite obviously insane (as you can read from my posts) and I need help damnit! :P. I stay to get feedback on my plans because my guys (friends and FI) just aren't that into all this stuff....
I was on another wedding board with Tiffinapit and Vagabondgurl and they suggested so many times to look here for things, so finally I did. I loved the site immediatly and started posting. The clincher for me was the wonderful welcome PM that I got from cebre80. She had this wonderful way of sending you warm welcoming hugs thru her words and I felt right at home right away.
With my wedding so close, I still don't plan on going anywhere any time soon. There are so many weddings that I have been following that there is no way I could leave until those are done and with newbees starting everyday I am always finding more to follow. It is a viciously fun and wonderful cycle, guess you ladies are stuck with me for awhile.
My boyfriend had given me the ok for looking at engagement ring styles so I Google'd looking for an emerald cut ring, and found Wedding bee. Became addicted to the ring threads, and there ya have it
My friend who got married in 2009 suggested it to me shortly after my DH and I got engaged. I haven't really been on since the wedding (5/7/11), mainly because I am having some post-wedding-blues. I think I miss being a bride/fiance!
I was really into healthy living blogs, mainly Healthy Tipping Point by Caitlin. I think she linked to Mrs. Avocado's Post-Bee blog (That Wife) and then I wound up finding a couple other "mom blogs" that used to be Bees. I would poke around the Bee and read Avocado and Dumpling's re-caps, and then started getting involved in the Waiting Boards before I got engaged.
One more vote from someone who didn't find it via Google!
