If something were to happen to my rings and I needed something to fill my bare finger, I would either get something like this (but in YG):

or if we had a higher budget my dream RHR:

paired with a plain rose gold band (the above ring is from etsy with a peach sapphire, the first ring is from jared)
anyone want to play?
To be totally honest with you I don't think I would get something different. I would try and get the same set again or something close to it. I love how unique and classy my set is and it's totally me. I don't think I would want anything else to replace it.
@MrsNerdy: I do like that first picture you posted, very beautiful and unique.
I'm no fun, I'd get the same one. Possibly a bit bigger that my current e-ring, but the same style. I'd also get the same wedding ring but I don't have it yet.

@couawilou: I do agree, my set is still #1 in my heart! However we wouldn't be able to afford to replace it, so the practical side of me would want either the first one shown or just a plain band. But it is always fun to pretend lol. In reality the second one is still my dream RHR, not my dream e-ring.
Oooh, fun thread! I think I would get this one:

Boo. It's not showing the top view. Here it is, though! http://www.bluenile.com/blue-topaz-ring_17210
I'd skip the big rock and opt for a diamond eternity band like this:

A heart attack! ;)
...actually I'd probably get something very similar, but look into Moissanite. Or just take the insurance check and take my time shopping estate sales til I found something I liked. I love my diamond(s) and I think we spent a pretty reasonable amount of money, but I don't see us justifying an upgrade purchase when we're family planning.
There is a set I found in a bridal magazine once, but I can't find it anywhere now!! It was about $8k, which is a lot, but I would love nothing more to have it. I'll have to go do a search again to see if I can find it
ETA: It looks something like this
@MrsNerdy: Well if we couldnt afford the same set again then I wouldn't mind having one of these, I LOVE Amethyst stones.
This one still is swirly and unique

This one I love because of the 2 hearts and it would represent FI and I.

@MrsNerdy: Oh no, is your set not insured?! You should jump on that...
After crying for a while, I would take my time and find a new stone. I really like Laurie Sarah's designs, but I really like solitaires, so I would either find a yellow sapphire ring, a yellow moissanite ring, or a smaller diamond solitaire. Until then, I would wear my stand in ring!
@Aure: well I have a moissy solitare, and a sapphire enhancer. Total my set is probably around $1200, so we never really thought about insuring that. I'm sure we could afford a replacement, but would rather save toward our family and my graduate degree.
@FutureBaker: I love the idea of a yellow moissy ring! I forgot about my love for those! I would search my heart out to find a pear shaped one, but moissaniteco doesn't seem to make pear shaped anything. I also love the yellow sapphires! I pretty much just love yellow jewelry, hense my yellow gold obsession
well im like the rest- i love love my ring.and id want something prolly similar if i could.. however there is 1 tacori ring i LOVE and there is a band im in love with but its too thick to wear with my current ring

I would freak out, cry then buy the first thing I saw then regret it. Then look for days & days straight for hours at a time until I found this:

& This is an actual event that took place, obviously. lol So I went for something totally different. I love marquise & pear shapes, so I kept that in there but changed from white to yellow gold & from a diamond to a gem with diamonds. I also stuck with the same size, nothing to big & still daintly like my lost ring.
@Mrs.Estep: i've loved all of your rings! I am so sorry you lost your first set (I love love marquise cuts) but your new set is fabulous! You have handled it all so well!
Mine were a custom job, so I'd just go back to my jeweller and have him crank out a couple more of the same :)
If I had to get something different, though, I'd go for a super uniquely cut coloured gem solitaire in a split shank or trellis setting.
I'm in love with these:
@Mrs.Estep: LOL, sorry but your description made me laugh.
Since mine is an inexpensive CZ, I'd probably buy the exact same one again to avoid confusion. In a few years, I'll get something a little more custom in palladium to match my will-be wedding band...so if something happened to that I'd probably just buy a bunch of CZ's and call it a day!
@linguo42: those are stunning! what stones are those? I'm such a sucker for gemstones!
I would get a blue moissy. I actually wanted that originally, but they didn't sell blue moissanites at the time I got engaged!
I would probably get a similar setting I have now (Tiffany replica), but I probably would go with a less expensive version than my original e-ring.
@MrsNerdy: The first is a tanzanite, the second is a citrine, and the third is smoky quartz. Swoon!
I would get a big ol' 2ct moissy! asscher is not available in moissy yet, but a girl can always hope.
so if I had to get a new ring today, I'd choose a princess cut. or a 3-stone emerald cut.
I would lose it. My ring was my grandmothers and totally irreplaceable. However, if I did lose my ring, my finger wouldn't be bare because I have my soon-to-be initials under the ring :)
My e-ring is insured so that I can get exactly the same thing again!
If I had to get something different, though, I'd probably get a five-stone or eternity band.
I would pick something like this ring because it combines my love for blue sapphires and my love for vintage erings.

i would be completely heartbroken. my ring is custom...i might be able to have the jeweler remake it, but it just wouldn't be the same. so i don't know what i'd do. i'd probably be ringless for a long, long time thinking about it.
@cardus: & I would totally recommened taking a long time if it ever did happen to anyone! Because you should REALLY look and see what you want if anything else at all. I just found whatever picked it because it looked nice & thought I would learn to love it as much as my marquise ring. I am glad I actually took days looking for my new ring & I mean hours & hours at a time searching high & low. Seeing everything that is out there first before making my finally pick!
I would lose my mind first trying to look for them. Then if all hope is lost, I would probably get another solitaire, with a bigger stone if we can. The band will probably be either plain again or with small diamonds.
Honestly, if something ever happened to my ring, I'd get the same one again. I can't imagine not having this ring. It's the most perfect ring ever for me and I'd want the exact same ring as a replacement. Hopefully that never happens, though!!
@MrsNerdy: I saw the yellow moissy and loved it! I just love the color of yellow sapphires as well. I think I prefer one that is yellowish with a small amount of orange. Not sure though. I love pears and was sad to see that the moissy site didn't have any.
Um, if I could have anything in some magical universe when I lost my e-ring (yea right) I'd get Khloe Kardashian's ring (pre-halo) lol. IT's FREAKING GORGEOUS
Ill play ;) except when i was trying to decide what i would do, i realized the ring i have is absolutely the ring for me, so i would get another 2ct moissy but if the hearts and arrows amora was out...well then i would probably get that instead :)
I actually lost my e-ring at one point. We replaced it with a .5ct round solitaire. I eventually found my old ring, and after having to have it re-set because the band was damaged, I wear it every day. BUT if I lost it again and had to pick another I would get an emerald cut solitaire (hovering around .5ct) because that was the ring I originally wanted, but decided not to get because of financial reasons. Still, I love my princess cut :)
Probably just a diamond eternity band or some stackable eternity rings. I don't know that I'd want a huge rock again?
