Post a picture (or a few, if you’re like me and can’t decide on just one!) of you and your dad!
My dad and I dancing at the wedding – love this pic.
My biological father has been out of my life since I was about two years old, and my dad (Fred, pictured) has been in my life as long as I can remember.
My mother told me a story that when I was about 3 or 4, I came to her and said that I wanted to call him “daddy” – and she said “of course you can.” I looked at her, very matter-of-fact and said “but I already have a daddy… so I don’t know what to do… Can I call him Daddy Fred?” The name has stuck – to this day, he’s Daddy Fred!
Here’s another of me and Daddy Fred on my wedding day:

He had me crying and laughing all day. We were actually in the space where they held the cocktail hour before the ceremony and he walked around to the back side of the bar and poured us each a shot of tequilla. It sounds so silly, but it was one of the best parts of the day. “Honey we’re both shameful cry babies, let’s hope this helps. Cheers to an amazing daughter to who chose a great man whose just like her Daddy.” I actually wrote that down the night of the wedding so I wouldn’t forget it 🙂

@7SEVENJ9: Mine too. And my “Dad’s” name is Fred too. He came into my life when I was two years old and has been there every since.
This is an old pic circa 1998. My junior prom.

Awww! I can’t find the picture I love digitally from my first wedding of me and my stepdad dancing…
the weird part – his name is Terry, but somehow along the way, he started calling me George….. and I call him FRED!
It’s totally stuck, even his daughter does it sometime. Last winter she and her girlfriend flew out and were having lunch with my mom and I. We were all talking and telling a story and later, the girlfriend said ‘I just have one question – who’s Fred?’
So funny 🙂
It must be a good man’s name I guess!

I too don’t have a relationship with my real father, but my grandpa is the bestest man I’ve ever had in my life. He came into my mama’s life when she was 13, and he’s been there with our family ever since.
And also, my mama. She is so strong and wonderful that not having a father in my life seems like a non-issue. We have been through a lot together and I couldn’t ask for a better mama.
(Sorry for the HUGE pictures!)

My Dad and I have been the closest I think out of the rest of my siblings. It helps that I’m the baby of the family. 🙂
My Dad is a huge fan of Motown music, so when I was little, we used to secretly do the “Temptations Walk” during church when everyone was singing hymns. Lol. So naturally, I chose to have “My Girl” as our Father/Daughter Dance at my wedding. Suddenly, in the middle of the dance, he’s like, “Are you ready?? Let’s do the Walk!”
I was like, “No! I don’t remember how!”
He said, “C’mon, just follow me!” LOL
This is another favorite picture of mine! My daddy is so cute. 🙂
