If you already have bought your dress, please try to refrain from second-guessing your first choice! We don’t want to cause any brides “Dress Regret” grief here!
I was going through pictures of dresses I didn’t pick and remember what fun times I had! Let’s see everyone’s dresses that didn’t make first choice.
This was an Alfred Angelo dream-in-colour dress I tried a long while back. It was closest to what I was looking at (Maggie Sottero’s Grace Kelly) and customizable sash colour. The reason I didn’t go back to try it on was due to budgetary reasons.
What I ended up picking: completely opposite to all the dresses I’ve tried.

I was tempted by a Jenny Packham ‘Aurora’ dress at the Sample Room in NYC. But in the end I couldn’t justify it for the price (especially considering it was a slightly shopworn sample and would need substantial alterations). So I walked away after agonizing: I even started a thread about it.
In the end I really truly fell in love with the fit and feel of my Modern Trousseau. It’s in pristine condition AND it was over 1k cheaper than the Justice of the Peace.
BUT I’ll always have a little soft spot for that sparkly Justice of the Peace that got away. 🙂

this was my runner up dress. pronovias grecia.
pronovias dresses were my 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices.

Pronovias Duende was my second choice- I ended up with a satin dress- the complete opposite of what I originallly thought I wanted.

This was my second choice dress, the Lazaro 3050. I ended up going with something completely different – the Casablanca 2051 – a beautiful beaded lace a-line gown.

Alfred Angelo Sleeping Beauty – it was the first wedding dress I ever tried on and I fell in love with the style. Unfortunately, it is only available in white or ivory and it cannot be dyed red

I fell in love with the sleek sexiness of the Maggie Sottero Mia but once I tried my dress on (Mary’s Bridal Karelina Sposa) it was a done deal. I love the fun bottom of my dress and how it wasn’t as run of the mill. Plus, my mom said the Maggie looked like a straw wrapper on me.

I loooved Maggie Sottero Desia, but ended up with a different lace fit-and-flare because it had a sweetheart neckline – which I also love. It was a tough choice, but no dress regret here :).

this is the dress i had lusted after and pictured myself in ever since i got engaged. i hunted one down that was in a sample sale and went to try her on.
by this point i had narrowed it down to 1 dress in a local shop and this one (in ivory)…
even in the sale she was bloody expensive – especially to say i would have to have BIG alterations done and have her dry cleaned…
anyway – i went back to try ‘my’ dress on one last time and there was no question!! funny how we end up with something completely different to what we originally picture ourselves in!

This was my runner-up. It really is a beautiful gown and for awhile I did sort of regret not getting it (the train was to die for!). But then I would look at my dress and remember why I chose it. (and this one was tight around my ribs and that’s a huge issue for me)

This was my runner up. I loved the lace at the top, but the skirt was taffeta and I’m having an outdoor wedding in August… I also felt like the movement of the skirt at the bottom was weird. I showed it to Fiance and he couldn’t stand the eyelash edging on the lace. I ended up with an organza ballgown.

The dress I got:
I went back and forth on this one for a loooong time but it was ultimately a no.

This was my runner up, Enzoani Blue Edson:
I ended up choosing a Demetrios gown. totally different! I loved the Enzoani, but it didn’t have enough bling and the bottom of the dress didn’t have any appliques or lace design that I wanted. So here is the dress!

This was my runner up dress:
I loved the sleeves and I thought the fit made my curves look fantastic but I ultimately decided on a tea length dress because I didn’t want to shred that fine lace on the bottom at our backyard reception.

My runner-up. I still think about it sometimes, but definitely feel like I made the right chocie. I loved the fit and color. Maggie Sottero Cleo.
