Curious who’s waiting to use their shower gifts till after the wedding. I never knew people waited to use their gifts. FIs siblings did, now I feel like we should follow suit. I just got my first one in the mail! Super exciting, but for some reason I feel guilty about using it.. So it’s sitting in my computer room in the corner all alone..
So who’s using and who’s waiting??

@soon2beMRSgq: I used them! I had no idea you were supposed to wait.

Depends on what the gift is because we are moving so I’ll hold off till we are moved. If we werent moving though I’d open them up the first chance I got

We waited. It was kind of fun to wait. We set some stuff up so that we could use it as soon as we got back though. I’m not exactly supersitious, but I don’t see the point in not keeping to traditions that are fairly easy to keep with and that aren’t that inconvenient. It’s not like my life was more difficult because I waited 2 months to change my flatware or everyday out or start using my burr coffee grinder instead of a blade grinder.

I felt weird using them before we got married, but I’m pretty sure we did!

We had them all unwrapped and sitting in a pile in the living room. I’ll be honest I still haven’t used some of them and it’s been 2 months!
It was easy not using the shower gifts since that was the day before the wedding. 🙂

It never occurred to me to wait. In fact, my Nespresso came 5 months before the wedding with a note from my girlfriends that they wanted me to enjoy an extra 5 months of espresso!
That said, we live in a tiny apartment, so we are saving certain gifts (such as our beautiful dinnerware) for our first home together. I am really looking forward to setting up a real home as a married couple.

I used them! I was pretty sure we were going through with the wedding… 😉

I’ll use them! We already got a lovely engagement gift–a framed picture commemorating our wedding date–and that’s hanging up already. My rule is just that you can’t use them until you’ve sent the thank you note.

You guys mean I have to wait 2 months to play with my new toys?! Haha. I actually never thought about this. I have a feeling that Fiance is going to want to dig in right away.

I’m undecided, lol. More than likely no unless we move in together before.

My Mom and Mother-In-Law would KILL me if we even tried to use them before the wedding. Old italian tradition that the MOB stores all the gifts until after the wedding. So I guess since they won’t be in my place until then, I really don’t have the temptation.

We have started using them. Everyone kept asking if we liked ‘xyz’ so I wasn’t even aware of waiting until after the wedding.

We just remodeled and painted the master bedroom, so I know we’re going to definitely use the sheets we got…most of the other things will probably stay in their boxes for now — my fiance is just excited to get rid of the green and blue sheets that don’t match with the new purple and grey bedroom.

We’re waiting, but not for the wedding! The house we live in now has TERRIBLE well water. All of our other dishes and things are stained. We’re moving next month and once we’re in the new place you’d better believe I’m busting all of it out!
